~ This -N- That ~

Hello Girls, Have you ever bought something and then got it home and it took you months to do anything with it....When I was a young wife I could get something new and I had to redo the whole house before I went to bed...Now that I'm olden I still love my stuff...But keeping it real here I will buy it and it will sit in my DR in the bags for months ha ha!! These are just a few things that have been taking up space in my DR for months now... Got this 3 piece cake plates at Ross...I was going to use them for my Granddaughter's baby shower in Aug...But I reserved the tea room in town for the shower instead....Always did say the best way to have a party is Book it ha ha!! This gives me time to do my hair and make-up ha ha!!

I put all 3 of them on my kitchen table....Added some of my beloved blues to them and of course a tea pot light....And my sweet Birds that Shelia from "The Quintessential Magpie" send me...Thanks Shelia your the best....

This is a napkin holder...But I made a plate stand out of it...Love the sweet spoon and fork...

I got cord covers a few months back also...again sat in the bag in my DR...Good Grief I'm a Bag Lady lol!!...Finally stood on the arm of my sofa and got one up... Still have another one to do...Hey baby steps here folks...

I really like not having a "Naked Chain"

Another thing I had in my DR...this beauty shop light ca.1930

This globe is a real beauty...Well it's time I got it hung in my Beauty shop bathroom...I told you I have an "outhouse Bathroom" a Barber shop one and an Garden one and a Beauty shop one.... Do your bathroom have themes...of course they do...

I think this will be beautiful when I get it hung and lit...don't you??? People tell me they would love to shop my house...well girls come on up to my mountain...everything is already bagged in my DR for you ha ha!!Last week while in Reno, I found this great Antique mall and I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I walked Thur the door...I kid you not they had real Antiques...So many of the shop now days have just plain junk that they call Antiques...When I was a young bride we called them second hand stores...This shop use to be the local "Mercantile Store" and it still had allot of the old general store furniture in it....Well moving right along now folks...I found a cabinet almost like this one that SCREAMED my name as soon I as walked Thur the door...Don't you hate when that happens ha ha!!....But hold everything I didn't buy it and for a few reasons...

1. The price

2. No place to put it (without getting rid of something in the kitchen)

3. We didn't have our Big truck that day

But it's been in my head since I seen it last week....Now I'm going back to Reno on Friday and if they still have it and will meet my price...I'm bringing that puppy home ha ha!! I do have to get rid of my kitchen table and chairs...which means I have to get a smaller set ( don't you hate when that happens) But I do have an old Ice cream parlor set in the barn( oh yes I have a 3000 foot barn also packed) that I can bring in....see how my mind works when it SCREAM's my name??? I just know it will look great with my Old General store Bin counter and I do so love my Old general store kitchen....Of course it will shoot my Antique budget for the year...But hey I'm leaving some great stuff to my daughters...That's another one of my reasoning when I buy Antiques I'm just thinking about what my daughters would like ha ha!!

Daughter Dawna was here last weekend...And she always ask the same thing " Mom what's going to happen to all this stuff when you die"? and I always say the same thing "Not my Problem then" ha ha!!! ( love you Dawna)
OK after all of This-N-That I better do what I do best and sit in my old red robe with my feet up and think about the other bags of stuff I still need to unpack ha ha!! I could have my own TV show called Mini-Hoarders ha ha!!

May all of you have a GREAT day...Thanks for coming by my silly blog and seeing what I'm up to...

Until next time from my mountain to yours,

Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria

Hi Gloria...you made me laugh out loud on your comment...hey that works for me too!!~ I love your stuff, that has been sitting in bags....I am the opposite, I tear into it, use it for awhile, grow tired of it, then Hoard it my closets....don't open a closet around here:) I love how you displayed those pretty plates with the silverware, so cute!

Hi Gloria,
I love your post today. I have been smiling from start to finish.
You are so right about the new thing in the bag. I guess we just don't get as excited as when we were young and didn't have much money. I leave stuff sitting in bags around the house and sometimes I forget that I bought something new! LOL

You have such a love for antiques and I love that you share that with us. I would also love to see that barn of yours. I bet it's just full of treasures.

hugs
Sissie

Oh my! That pattern cabinet took my breath away. Get back over there with your checkbook (or whatever) and bring that beauty home. At least, I'll know it has found its way to an appreciative home. Have a joyous 4th. Sally

Gloria, my dear friend... your blues are the most beautiful I've ever seen... I adore the toile lampshade.. my lamp like that is screaming for a new shade... would love to find one like that as a replacement..Now, about that napkin ring turned into a plateholder.. girfriend, that also has my name on it... if I had the money I would be on the first plane out to grow through your bags... gosh I'm still drooling... I hope when you get to Reno your find is still there and you get to take it home.. nothing better than satisfying a whim that sticks in our head and becomes an obsession.. that's the way my purchase from Nell Hill's turned out...lol... I've got to try and call you sometime this w/k.... just let me know when would be the best time...miss the heck out of you... lots and lots of hugs ~lynne~

Ha Ha! At least you know what's sitting around in your dinning room! I was looking around the kitchen thinking about how to reorganize my it tonight. I opened a cabinet high above the stove and to my surprise I saw a tied up plastic grocery bag with something large wrapped in newspaper. I had no idea what it was and couldn't remember putting it there. It was like Christmas! I got it down and it turned out to be a pretty white canister with a fruit motif with lots of great colors. It really pays to go through those bags once in awhile huh? We should start a group therapy for bag ladies!
Good luck in Reno!

I hope you are doing well and that you are planning a fun and relaxing holiday this weekend. I see that your pedicure is done!! lol! ;-D Love ya!

Ohmigosh! I'm so happy to meet someone else with a DR full of bags!

Loved this post, and am still smiling after reading it. Gotta say, though, when I saw that awesome cabinet, I thought, "OK. You are NOT going to tell me that was in a bag in the DR!"

I'll be back--off to hit the Follow button now!

Too funny. I feel right @ home w/ you, Gloria. I have my own 'bag lady problem'. My oldest daughter wonders the same thing, but she will get over it. I love finding stuff. My husband just told me last night, in a kind way, that I have a problem. My only problem, is that he and my mom, keep finding me stuff @ thrift stores when added with the stuff I find, becomes 'clutter'. LOL! Have yourself a great 4th weekend. Nice manicure btw.

Hi, Gl♥ria! The other Gloria here! Well, if you are the "Bag" lady, I am the "Box" lady -- I, too, have things I haven't put up and are still in the boxes they came in, just like you! We have the same name, so we might as well hoard together! Ha!I have to get my act in order though. If I finally put up all my stuff, I would be so happy and will take pics for my blog. I will let you know when I finally get some energy to do so! In the meantime, please post when you put up that red light -- LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing your treasures. Love ya!
Best,
Gloria
