~Victorian Silver and Side Board~

Hello guys, I hope you had a great New years....I got up Wednesday morning with a cold to beat all colds and had to stay in bed and eat Truffles and rest ha ha!! Can I hear a Poor Gloria !! I didn't even see the New year in.....I know most of you that come by my blog know how much I love Victorian Antiques and I really have not shared alot of them with you....So today I did want to show you some my Victorian Silver and my side board and spoon rack....I have decided that in the next few weeks I will show you the whole dining room...as I have only shown bit and pieces of it so far.... A crystal and silver cruet set....I know it looks like pewter ha ha!! But that's one of my New year Resolution's is to polish all my silver which I hate doing...This is from ca.1870

A coffee Tipper also ca.1870 this I had to have many years ago because of the sweet cherub's on it....

A Master Salt Cellar with the individual ones you would set your table settings with...this set has 6 of these swans and the silver salt spoons to go with them....

Close up of the coffee tipper....

One of my Cherubs silver lamps....

Craved Griffiths on the side board....

I know some of you are thinking what's with the wall paper...well I'm one of those nuts that love wall paper

Now this is my spoon rack that hangs above the side board....

My late Husband had this made for me....the Lions on each end however came off of an old china cabinet and he had the cabinet maker add them to each end of the cabinet so it would match the side board

All the china plates I have hanging in the dining room are R.S. Prussia or R.S. Germany all are before ca.1880

At Christmas I had a few say they would like to see the front of this side board....well here it is...It's all quarter sawed oak ca.1880 I am only the second owner of this dining room set....This set has 2 china cabinets, an Ice Box and table and six chairs to match....

These are all things you would have seen on a side board year's ago....

This set took over a year to hand crave or so I was told when I bought it....came from an estate sale in upper New York....I had wanted a Oak table and chairs and a Antique dealer friend of mine was at the estate sale and called me about this set....I bought it with only a polaroid picture he send me and could hardly wait for it to get to California...

As you can see even the handles on the drawer are craved and look at the Lions feet on it...

I bought this set in 1980 and so it was 100 years old when I got it....

I think the cabinet maker did an awesome job matching the spoon rack to the side board for me....Spoon rack was made in 1980

The 2 Lions you see in the front are the back of the chairs that match the side board....I hope I didn't bore you too much today girls...May all of you have a Great day...and now that I can stay up for awhile I hope to get back to everyone that left comments on Kyra's first Birthday post....I know I am so far behind again story of my life a day late and a dollar short ha ha!!

Until Next time From my Mountain to yours....

What amazing treasures you have there, Gloria! I enjoyed hearing the story on all of them, and that piece you had made just matches the other piece to perfection. Loved seeing your wonderful antique silver, too, and it looks like the spoon I sent is in perfect company! :-) YEA!

Thank you for sharing your lovely DR with us. I loved the tour!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Wow Gloria, this is beautiful. The craftsmanship of the furniture is amazing. And the cabinet maker did such a beautiful job of matching the spoon cabinet to the set. Love all of your silver, but seeing it reminds me of why I don't collect it - you have to polish it - ugh! Hope that you have a wonderful New Year! Hugs, Kathy

Gloria, I hope you're feeling much better by now! This sideboard is just amazing to look at. Thinking back over 100 years ago with the tools they had to use then, you can just imagine all the work that went into it. I absolutely love the coffee tipper.... but why is it called a "tipper"? I love these posts of yours! I can't wait to see the rest of the room!

Good Morning Gloria!
First my dear, you may want to wipe the drool off the computer as I am sure it's going to come through! What an amazing side board, spoon rack and silver collection! The silver alone is just amazing but add in the antique furniture and OMG, it's gorgeous! I am so glad to hear your getting over your cold, I was starting to wonder about you. Oh, and I love wallpaper and plan on getting some in this house soon! It's coming back in style of course! I am having my bloggy anniversary come by when you can and say hi, miss ya! Hugs, Cindy

Good morning darling, from a very "snowy" Missouri. Your silver collection is out of this world. I love the patina. Your spoon collection and the cabinet is gorgeous. Your late hubby did an excellent job of having the cabinet made to hold your beautiful spoons. The cabinet maker was a wizard for sure. We have a "small" collection of spoons that Mr. P picked up during his trucking years. I haven't had them out in years. You always inspire me to retrieve some of my treasures and use them again. I so enjoyed seeing this part of your beautiful room.. looking forward to more.... hugs to ya darling.. ~lynne~

Oh Gloria...I'm afraid I'm going to warp the wood with all the drooling I have going on over here over your furniture! The spoon rack looks like it was made at the very same time as the sideboard! Perfection done by an excellent craftsman. It's no secret that I love oak and the beautiful things that it can be made into. The silver brought back a memory of when I was in college and working as a housekeeper for people in the valley. One was a very well to do woman who would pay me to polish her silver. She thought I loved doing it bz I'd remark how beautiful it was. I didn't like the actual polishing but I loved how the silver looked when it was all shiny and clean! I can't believe that there's more to show us in the dining room bz I've already seen so many beautiful treasures! I'm anxiously awaiting your next installment. Cindy

OMG Gloria. What treasures! The silver - I especially love the swan salt cellars w/ MASTER - (I didn't know they had a master! DUH) What wonderful wonderful pieces. And the furniture is just a true work of art. You must just be so happy every time you walk by it! Very cool. I mean - it is just gorgeous.
Well, I'm sorry you were sick on New Years Day - but hey! A day in bed eating Truffles - I can think of worse things :)

When it is polished I think silver is just stunning!
Such a dining room, Gloria! BEAUTIFUL!!
And...thank you for your precious comment on my post this morning. :)

Gloria,

Your sideboard cabinet is gorgeous and what a beautiful find. I adore you spoon collection and the case matches perfectly. Both have exceptional workmanship.
I am glad I spent a moment blogging today (I have to kneel as I can't sit at my desk;) and happened on your blog...to see sweet Kyra's 1st birthday. What a true miracle and blessing from the Lord she is. She is so adorable and sweet. The Lord must have an important mission for her to acomplish in her little life.
I hope you continue to feel better!

Want to know what I tell people about my tarnished siver? I just tell them its character, and antiques must have character, or there not a good antique!I hope you are feeling better. Take care of yourself.
Talk Soon, looking forward to seeing the rest of that room.

Child, I know about dropping phones (and I'm famous for dropping cameras). I have finished the books but I have to spit polish them. Lots of spit! You have the most gorgeous things! The tiger striped credenza is stunning. I love the ornate silver pieces. They remind me of the ones used in Kimberly's tablescaping book. I hope you have a fabulous 2010!

Being the most popular city in the entire country, New York offers you an experience of a lifetime to have some quality services with some of the gorgeous ladies on earth.
Escorts http://bijouescorts
It is not always possible to take friends and relatives along with you, for the sake of having a good company, because everyone is busy in his own life. Most people simply don't have enough time because of their busy life style. Building a relationship needs time and many people in high profile careers don't have enough time to invest in a relationship.
Choosing the best personal escort service is not an easy task. Check the previous record of the service provider, there should not be any criminal case registered against the provider. Doing research on the internet and then personally visiting the place is the best way to get all the desired information. Reading client reviews is very important because it gives information about the escort service from the point of view of clients. Going through New York escort directory can also help in making a right decision.
Another important thing is quality of service and escorts. If you are spending so much money, you are entitled to get high level of services. Make sure that the girls they are showing in their website really work for them. Maintaining privacy is also very important. Make sure that the agency takes your right of privacy very seriously. For some people privacy is very important. If some information gets out, it can ruin your personal and professional life, especially if you are a married man.
