~ This -N- That ~

Hello Girls, Have you ever bought something and then got it home and it took you months to do anything with it....When I was a young wife I could get something new and I had to redo the whole house before I went to bed...Now that I'm olden I still love my stuff...But keeping it real here I will buy it and it will sit in my DR in the bags for months ha ha!! These are just a few things that have been taking up space in my DR for months now... Got this 3 piece cake plates at Ross...I was going to use them for my Granddaughter's baby shower in Aug...But I reserved the tea room in town for the shower instead....Always did say the best way to have a party is Book it ha ha!! This gives me time to do my hair and make-up ha ha!!

I put all 3 of them on my kitchen table....Added some of my beloved blues to them and of course a tea pot light....And my sweet Birds that Shelia from "The Quintessential Magpie" send me...Thanks Shelia your the best....

This is a napkin holder...But I made a plate stand out of it...Love the sweet spoon and fork...

I got cord covers a few months back also...again sat in the bag in my DR...Good Grief I'm a Bag Lady lol!!...Finally stood on the arm of my sofa and got one up... Still have another one to do...Hey baby steps here folks...

I really like not having a "Naked Chain"

Another thing I had in my DR...this beauty shop light ca.1930

This globe is a real beauty...Well it's time I got it hung in my Beauty shop bathroom...I told you I have an "outhouse Bathroom" a Barber shop one and an Garden one and a Beauty shop one.... Do your bathroom have themes...of course they do...

I think this will be beautiful when I get it hung and lit...don't you??? People tell me they would love to shop my house...well girls come on up to my mountain...everything is already bagged in my DR for you ha ha!!Last week while in Reno, I found this great Antique mall and I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I walked Thur the door...I kid you not they had real Antiques...So many of the shop now days have just plain junk that they call Antiques...When I was a young bride we called them second hand stores...This shop use to be the local "Mercantile Store" and it still had allot of the old general store furniture in it....Well moving right along now folks...I found a cabinet almost like this one that SCREAMED my name as soon I as walked Thur the door...Don't you hate when that happens ha ha!!....But hold everything I didn't buy it and for a few reasons...

1. The price

2. No place to put it (without getting rid of something in the kitchen)

3. We didn't have our Big truck that day

But it's been in my head since I seen it last week....Now I'm going back to Reno on Friday and if they still have it and will meet my price...I'm bringing that puppy home ha ha!! I do have to get rid of my kitchen table and chairs...which means I have to get a smaller set ( don't you hate when that happens) But I do have an old Ice cream parlor set in the barn( oh yes I have a 3000 foot barn also packed) that I can bring in....see how my mind works when it SCREAM's my name??? I just know it will look great with my Old General store Bin counter and I do so love my Old general store kitchen....Of course it will shoot my Antique budget for the year...But hey I'm leaving some great stuff to my daughters...That's another one of my reasoning when I buy Antiques I'm just thinking about what my daughters would like ha ha!!

Daughter Dawna was here last weekend...And she always ask the same thing " Mom what's going to happen to all this stuff when you die"? and I always say the same thing "Not my Problem then" ha ha!!! ( love you Dawna)
OK after all of This-N-That I better do what I do best and sit in my old red robe with my feet up and think about the other bags of stuff I still need to unpack ha ha!! I could have my own TV show called Mini-Hoarders ha ha!!

May all of you have a GREAT day...Thanks for coming by my silly blog and seeing what I'm up to...

Until next time from my mountain to yours,

~What time is it~

Why it's Marty's at "A Stroll Thur Life" table top tuesday time.... It seem's all over blogland I see everyone into this new French look...Well today I wanted to show you one of my oldest Railroad station clocks this clock is 2 faced....This clock hangs down from the ceiling in my laundry room ( hey Marty a ceiling is just a tabletop turned upside down Right lol!!) ....Oh and speaking of Laundry rooms I have been wallpapering and painting mine...I still have to finish all the little things like decorating it the way I want to and putting up my fret work at the door ways......But thought I would give you a sneak peek of some of my olden things I'm working with...
Found this shelf about 2 months ago...Did I tell you I love wood craving??

Also found this old frame about the same time took some Rub -n- buff in antique gold to the corners of it...and knew it would work great for my 1950 "Life Magazine" advertisment of Duz Soap.... I bet a few of you in blogland remember the Old saying "Duz's does everything" This picture covers up the circuit box in my laundry room

One of my Coal Iron's....

A gas Iron....

A feather duster...these were use to hit Pillows with to get out the winter dust....Look you can see my new wall color which is Mocha Tan and new beadboard wall paper and trim...Len did a wonderful job painting and trimming...I did all the wall paper...will show it all to you when I get it all fancy up... You would think I was redoing the Golden gate bridge it has taken me so long ha ha!!

These Duster's are rattan...they also made metal ones but those were used for beating rugs..

1 of my Ball Fruit jars turned lamp...and of course I have it filled with old clothes pins....It sits in an old blue/white granite pan.... The red iron is also a coal one...

I found this shade many years ago at a country shop I worked at...I know it's not laundry looking...But just loved what it says on the front of it...Can you see it ? It says God Bless our Home...

My child's ironing board sits at the end of my washer...And no laundry room would be complete without a pair of doll bloomers and scrub board ha ha!! See that little iron well I found it many years ago yard sale'n and its a tape measure...is it not too cute...I just love old children things....

I love my soap boxes...and you know why after all these years there still full never been opened...It's very hard to find ones that aren't empty....

You see the "Bon Ami" bar soap...well years ago that's what you would clean mirrors , windows, and Chrome with...You would get it wet and rub it on with a rag waited until it dried and wipe it off...I remember as a kid my mama using it....Took forever...so glad we have Windex now ha ha!!
Len finally got my window all done...I just love it...I hung my sock stretcher's and sat a shoe last in the window...Hung my old tin sign above it...Len just got the framing at Lowe's last night for the sign so he can frame it for me in Black...I think it will make it stand out even more...don't you??

This old wringer sits on top of my dryer...love it I still have the original box for it....This iron is a stove top iron...years ago you would have a t least 2 of these...while you were using one the other would be getting heated on the stove....

What did you do with those Wet boots year ago...well you hunged them up to dry....

I use this to hang my clothes hangers on.....I hope you enjoyed my sneak peek today of my olden stuff in my dreaded room...I love all this olden stuff...But sure am glad all I have to do is push a button to do my laundry ha ha!! Now if only I could find a machine to fold and put away the clothes afterwards....

Thank you for taking the time to visit me...Now be sure and go see Marty for some great tabletops today...And Please don't forget Marty is having her Cloche Party on July 16th so girls dust off those cloche's and get ready...I just love this party and all the wonderful things you girls do that inspire me....

Until next time from my mountain to yours...

~Let there be light~

I thought I would show you my Biggest lamp in my house....This is my French torch lamp and she's all bronze and stands 7 1/2 tall...I found this beauty about 3 years ago and just knew I would find a place for her.... She is from ca. 1850 and weights a ton...
Oh and in case your wondering they did use my "Body" for the mold ha ha!!

Just look at her face...is she not pretty...

Now this beauty does not have a name...I'm looking to name her do you have any suggestions...Please let me know...It's a shame to be so old and not have a name yet...
Now as this is one of my favorite lights in my house I'm linking this up to Laurie at " Bargain Hunting and chatting" Please pay her a visit....
I hope all of you have a GREAT weekend...
Until next time from my mountain to yours,

~JUST THIS -N- THAT~

Hey my Sweet friends...Today I thought I would just show you some random shots of some of my table tops....This is one one my all time favorite pieces of advertisement...it sits on top of my frig with a few of my butter churns....Is it not too cute....I love the sweet looking bear on it...It's from the Hamm's beer company ca. 1950 I don't really care for beer but loved what it said on it...So it SCREAMED my name when I found it many years ago and I have had it in my kitchen ever since ha ha!!

One of my many cloche's with a Cobalt blue depression glass creamer with some on my olden silver ware in it....

I love the Chevron pattern on this creamer...Oh yes another collection I have is Depression glass...lots of pink and green...but the blue is the hardest to find...

One of my gum ball machines...This one is from ca. 1900 and a few of my Planters Peanut jars...These I use for storage love them and there peanut shaped handle...

A De Laval Cream separator cabinet from ca. 1910 the front is all tin and it also shows you what a cream separator looked like...I also have the cream separator to match it...I use to have it out on my front porch and one time I raised chickens ( ostrich's, and Emus ) here and I had a hen that layed her eggs inside the bowl....Every time I would go out my front door she would have a fit with me...she hatched 5 little chicks and one night about 2 AM I heard her having a fit outside...well all her chicks had gotten out of the bowl and she was busy trying to gather them all up...I got a paper bag and caught them all put them back in the bowl and mama hen was happy and so was I as I got to go back to sleep ha ha!!

I have a few of my Olden cook books on it and a fruit jar turned lamp...See I even have the old tin sign to match it....

My old Blacksmith bellows turned coffee table in my family room...another one of my favorite pieces of furniture....The legs came off of an old dining room table

Another coffee table with a flower arrangement I made last week with Golden hydrangeas...Hope you enjoyed some of my random shots of my olden stuff...I am hooking up with Marty at a " Stroll Thur life" Please take the time to go by and see this sweet Lady and all the others that have taken time to be apart of her Party....Thanks Marty for being the wonderful hostess you are..

ps...guys I will be in Reno for 2 days while Len gets his check up from his heart doctor so hope to get back to you all then....Thank you so much for taking the time to come by and see me...You guys really do complete me!!!

Until next time from my mountain to yours,

~ Knock Knock~

Good morning guys, I just thought I would show you what Len and I have been up to...Now I told you how I found this Bead board wall paper last year that looks just like wood and even feels like it...Well I ordered it from Home Depot online and it sat in the box in my Dining room since last year...Oh Yes another project in the making for me to do ha ha!! I know I said if I ever think about wall paper again to Slap me silly lol!! Well here it is Father's day weekend and I started this project on Mother's day...tearing off all the old wall paper (mess) and painting...and repairing walls what a mess I got myself into once again...ha ha!! This is my laundry room/ hallway / bathroom from my kitchen into my living room

YES it's an outhouse door lol!! doesn't every body have one?? I had this made in 1990 as I wanted an old outhouse door at this bathroom...I know weird to some...But hey it's me were talking about here and I love things that I don't ever have to see in other people's houses...told you I march to a guitar with a few strings missing...Len just got the trim up around it on Friday...Oh I just love the way it looks now...kinda fancy for an outhouse ha ha!!

It comes complete with the moon window !!! Now I wanted to show you a few of my old door knockers I have on this door...As everyone knows you better knock before entering an Outhouse ha ha!! you see that Red in the little window...well those are Long johns hanging inside the bathroom door ha ha!! One day soon I will show you the inside of my Outhouse bathroom...it really does look like an old outhouse ha ha!! But hey it's so me!!!

A sweet basket of flowers...

A Kissing couple...

A sweet doggie...

A sweet Parrot... All of these door Knocker's are from ca. 1930

This is the window that Len is working on right now...Oh I just love it...it lets in so much needed light in this laundry room...

Of course with a redo you always have a mess to live with until your done ha ha!! to Len when he is working every flat surface is fair game to toss his tools on....

My washer and dryer became a tool station....

Even my kitchen table had trim pieces put on it ha ha!! Anyway this is just a peak at to what we have been up to and why I have not been posting like I should be doing...I have been busy fighting back all this mess and trying to live around it ha ha!! I hope to show you the finished project if and when we ever get it done....ha ha!!

May all of you have a great day...now I need to run and find my clothes hangers so I can do my laundry...wonder where I put them ??? I know somewhere in my dining room they are living there right now ha ha!!

Until next time from my mountain to yours...
Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
