~Luck of the Irish~

Hello !!! Well I am Irish and Yesterday was also Friday the 13th....Well Yesterday I was having a pretty good day going around and trying to visit everyone. Go get me another cup of coffee and I hear something in the other room....Well I am home alone !! I just know something had fell off the wall but couldn't find a thing wrong or so I thought...

Get my coffee go to sit back down at my desk and what do I see but a Black screen in front of me... Well I see my printer is on, my monitor light is on, the fax is on...so why is my screen Black ??? now mine you I just got this new 24 in monitor after Christmas...So right away I am cussing out Staples that they sold me a bad monitor...Well I look at my computer and the light is off...I tried to turn it on NOTHING, Unplugged it and tried again NOTHING ...unhooked everything from it took the hard drive in another room plugged it in and you GUESSED IT NOTHING!!!

Well you can only guess the panic attack I had at this time..its like 4pm so can I call and its a Friday...I have a laptop in the kitchen..but all my files and pictures I keep on my desktop....so there goes my PINK Saturday post I was doing . So then I thought not a big deal I still have the laptop and at least I can comment and email until Monday when I get my hard drive in for repair.

WRONG !! I can receive mail on my laptop but it won't send its struck in the OUTBOX...Now my Internet provider works until 4pm on Saturday, so first thing this morning I am calling and calling and no answer...I then take my laptop down to them and tell them the problem...and get this the guy tell me I can't help you here, you have to call us and will try and help you !! Its like WHAT!! If I call you don't answer the phone and I am here right now but you can only help me on the phone?? Told him to hang on called him from my cell phone and asked him then to help walk me through this problem. So here I am standing there with my laptop on the counter talking to this man right in front of me on the phone..Its seem they can do only phone help cannot touch your equipment...Its blew me away...

Anyway we did everything to get this laptop to send mail and it won't its stuck in the out box...So now I have one desk top that has a power box out that I can't get fixed until Monday and a Laptop that won't send mail..So Girls if it can't happen on Friday the 13th it will happen to me!!!

So if you email me and I don't answer its because I am struck in the OUT BOX... I guess it could be worse I could be struck in an OUTHOUSE for 2 days...

May all of you have a great weekend !!! Me I am going to eat a box of chocolate's now to ease my pain... ps that noise I heard was my power box blowing up!!

Hugs and smiles Gloria

Sorry to hear it Gloria!

Two things to try

1)You Are Working Offline- To change the Work Offline command:
1. On the File menu, click Work Offline.
2. On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive, and then click the name of the account from which you want to send the message

2)Send Options- To make sure that you have selected the correct send options:

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. On the Send tab, click to select both the Send messages immediately and Save copy of sent messages in the 'Sent Items' folder check boxes.
3. On the Connection tab, click Change under Internet Connection Settings, and then make sure that the correct dial-up or local area network (LAN) settings are in the list.
4. Click OK, click OK, open the message in your Outbox, and then click Send.

Since you seem to have an internet connection..it is probably a setting in your email account... in the outgoing messages...

you could look in Tools>email accounts and view existing setup and see what is entered

example of POP3 settings
incoming mailserver: pop.secureserver.net

outgoing mailserver: smptout.securesever.net

Not sure if this is any help for you... but might be worth a try (I usually end of figuring out our computer issues..I like the challenge!)

well isn't that just a fine mess!
so I guess I will see you when you get back-so to speak.
The power went out here last night at 9pm and didn't come back until after 1am....didn't think to turn off anything when I finally went to bed at midnight...so when it finally came back on....it scared the heck out of me..the t.v. and all the lights blazing...how's that for a shock! especially since I had FINALLY fallen asleep for the first time in days!

Wow, this is really a fine mess! Now who in the world would have to only help you on the phone. It's funny but I can't believe you called the guy on your cell phone. That just cracks me up. Sorry you can't get it fixed until Monday, but I'll be thinking of you. Hugs, Marty

Yikes Gloria! I know the frustration all too well. Funny how we are all used to having instant access to the outside world - what DID we do before the internet????
But you are absolutely right - it could always be worse. A poor old lady from my neck of the woods got stuck in a bucket for 2 whole days last week!!! If that doesn't ease your pain (or make you pee your pants laughing!) I don't know what will!! HA! ~Kim

Oh my! At least you're not stuck in the outhouse like you said! I'd be lost without my computer.....and to think a little over 10 years ago I didn't even have one or know how to run one!!

Four Paws and Co said...

OMG, Gloria, this could only happen to you! You had to talk to the guy on the phone while you stood in front of him?!? Oh my... Yep, you're very lucky to not be stuck in the outhouse for 2 days.

Sorry, I'm still giggling! ♥ Diane

PS HAPPY PINK SATURDAY MY FRIEND!!!

I hate computor problems and feel for you all the way. What a pain, but Happy Pink Saturday anyway! Enjoy your day, Char

Hey grandma hope you get your computer up and back running again. I know you can't send anything out. Thank you for the outfit again. We love you.

Josh

P.S.
look into getting an external hard drive just incase your computer goes down for good. Atleast you'll have your files on you external hard drive.

Jannie Funster said...

I hate computer problems like that. Which reminds me to hook up that external hard-drive and do that backing up.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Cheers.

Well Sweetie, so sorry that you're having computer problems...I sure hope you can get them fixed or figured out soon! I'll talk to you tomorrow, honey!

My goodness you sure did have a day! I hope tuesday bring you some better luck... you had me cracking up with the outhouse line!! Nope I wouldn't want to be stuck in one of those... especially in the woods on Friday the 13th!

Hi Gloria...I think you are a genius...thinking to call the guy right then & there with your cell phone...I'd probably have left grumbling & mumbling a few choice words...LOL...I enjoyed seeing precious Kyra's sidebar pics where she's dressed in such cute outfits, so that could be your Pink Saturday post! ;-) Bo

Kat said...

Gloria, sorry you are having computer problems, and both computers at once! That stinks. I'm picturing you on your cell phone talking to the guy because he can't talk to you in person - now if that doesn't sound like a Monty Python skit I don't know what does! This has to be a new level of absurdity in customer service (and I use that term loosely here) lol. Have a great weekend and enjoy your chocolate. Kathy

Yes, I would panic, too. You sounded so calm...Happy Pink Saturday!

I'm glad you're not stuck in the outhouse for days~ but it seems like I recall you blogging from the bathroom once upon a time? Pc issues have increasingly become my biggest fear. Isn't that terrible...lol. Hope all gets fixed soon.

Gloria! I literally spit a spray of coffee on my pooter when I read that you whipped out your cell phone and called the guy that was standing right in front of you!!!!!! OMG, this was just hysterical! Well, not the fact that you're having pooter issues, but the story was fantastic!

Oh, that's not good! Get it fixed soon! I been thinking where is she? Well I been off the blog world some, keep grandchildren. I am hoping to get more done, this week. You have a great weekend and just think of all the post you can think of doing. lol The sun is shining, after several days of rain. Went shopping last night, unbelieveable! I bought Nothing! Hubby like to have fainted! Well if he'd take me to my favorite stores, I probably loaded up. lol Hear from you soon!

Oh so sorry about all your computer problems, Gloria. I have one too. Took my laptop to have keyboard replaced (Brendan played with it and pulled A key loose). I took it home and turned it on last Friday for the first time since I took it home and it won't boot. There was nothing wrong with it when I took it to have keyboard replace. So we had to drive 2.5 hrs. to take it back to Best Buy and left it there. Hope you have better luck this week. I thought it was so funny with you on the phone right talking right in front of the service guy.LOL!...Christine

Stuck in the outbox is the better of the two options if you ask me.

Perhaps when you get unstuck and I stop laughing long enough, I will continue to read and post here.

Hey Dearheart...

THURSDAY!!! Ohhhh noooo!!! Oh my goodness, what would we do without our computers? Even though your email is messed up at least you still can blog and comment! Girl, I'm so sorry to hear about all of your photos...I hear ya, if I were to lose all of mine...well, I'd just hate having to start over! Girl, we have an external hard drive...they're fairly inexpensive...every so often we back up everything we have on our computer! The reason we do this...because we lost all of our wedding photos because the computer crashed that they were on and we couldn't retrieve them...lesson learned and lots of tears over that one!!! Like I said yesterday, technology is great but when there is a problem it really stinks!!! I hope that your computer will be as good as new when you get it back Thursday! Thank the Lord that you've been blogging, at least you have all of the photos that you've used here still!

Well honey, I'm movin' slow here lately...so fatiqued again, and I hate that! But I keep goin'...have to! We've been having some beautiful weather, I actually had the windows and doors open today...was soooo nice, fresh air! hehe!!! Russell got his Dad's 53 Ford...he cleaned it all up yesterday and drove it to work today...to show off to his buds! It was so cute! It won't be long till all the car shows start...Russell is already talking car shows..hehe! Well honey, you have a good night and we'll talk tomorrow!

Love ya!
Chari

I can't lie and tell you I'm not scared though...

Thanks for your sweet words.

Gloria, you just crack me up! I don't mean to laugh at your misery. Girl, there is nothing more frustrating than computer problems. I had my post ready last night except for two pictures.
