~Junk-N-Stuff~

Hello girls...Yes I have been MIA for a few days...will tell you why at the end of this post...But just wanted to Share with you my new wreath I just got Yesterday...I had seen this at Shanda Blog and it was one of the things that just screamed my name..said she got it from QVC so I had to order one...Just look at the little bike on it...its all metal so cute...

Here's a close up look at it...Oh girl I just did my "Happy Dance" when I got this...love the little basket with flowers and flags...

Now this is my old Schwinn Bike that I have had for many years...just gave it a new coat of Red paint last week added a basket of flowers and flags and put it on my front porch...Now last year Len and I were at Lowe's and I found these window shelf's brackets and had to have them...I have always loved window boxes...just something that says WELCOME to me about them...

Now this is my little ole carport with some of my tractors wheels...And you see that pink flower pot hanging there...well 3 weeks ago a Mama Blue Jay made a nest and laid 4 eggs in it and on Monday she hatched all 4 of them..So now I have Mama and Daddy flying in and out all day feeding these naked little babies...I have taken a ton of pictures of them....

Another wagon wheel that hangs on my house and a 2 man saw...

This is an Old scale I have ivy in hanging from the up stairs desk... Now I know this kind of junk is not for everyone...but I do love my Antiques inside and outside...

Now Wally made this wind chimes years ago for me...its all brass tubing and has a boat spinner on the end of it...weights a ton...but when it goes off it sounds like the Bells of St. Mary's...

Now this is the basket I did for my bike...

Remember me telling you my entry way was in a Barn Silo...of course you do...well this is the top of the Silo where my stairs are and my front doors...its all round...it really was hard for my contractor to put square doors in a round frame...but he did it...

Just a few jugs I have at the door...and an old Ice cream Parlor chair that the bottom fell out of...so I painted it and made it into a planter...

My Guard Bear...this was made by a local guy using nothing but a Chain Saw....

An old mop bucket I also use as a planter...

Hand pump...this all sits on an old school desk...

2 old crocks and that stick thingy is a Branding Iron...this all sits on the right side of my doors...

I am flying our colors....Not only because I am a proud American...But also for my Grand son Jacob...which brings me to why I have been MIA....Its hard to type when you can't see because you have been crying....You see my Jacob didn't not get his extended leave...so He left today by train to go to Texas...as he have to be there no later than Monday to check into Ft. Hood...and report to duty by May 20, And his wife due on May 22nd..Left with him...So that's means my Dawna won't be able to see her first born grand child being born...Oh I just pray we don't have an Amtrak baby ha ha!! I am worried sick about these kids traveling by train to Texas and her due at any time...

Any hoo I had to drop everything Yesterday to make a trip to go see him before he left...We went to Olive Garden for dinner and I had a Hugh lump in my throat just looking at him and wondering when would be the next time I got to see my boy...Dawna didn't even get to see her Son and say Good bye...so she is just heart broken...we all tried to tell Morgan his wife to wait until she had the baby and he had housing for them...but said after him being gone to boot camp for 4 months she wanted to go with him now...Oh to be young again and not think beyond today...Like I said hope we don't have an Amtrak baby also pray there a Doctor riding the rails with them if we do...Take care Jacob Grandma is so proud of you !!!

Thanks guy for coming by and seeing me with my swollen eyes....You guys are the best...

May all of you have a safe and great day....

Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria

I'm sorry to hear Jacob didn't get to have an extended leave! I certainly appreciate his service to our country.

The wreath and your schwinn are gorgeous! I'd love to find an old bike.

Your train story reminded me of my train story. I was a few weeks old, when my mother and I boarded a train to Texas. I wasn't even 6 weeks old. Mother was trying to get to Texas before my father left for the South Pacific. Anyway...during the train ride which was 8 or 10 hours, I think. Those were the good ol' days when trains didn't move fast. This was during WWII. Mother was nursing me and the milk dried up. I was starving. I don't know where they found a bottle, but the cook on the train mixed up that old standby formula of carnation milk and karo syrup. Do you remember that? Anyway, we made it to Texas and I continued to do fine with carnation and karo. We missed daddy, though. We didn't see each other until I was over 2 years old

Oh Gloria, I have tears in my eyes! Just thinking of them leaving on the train and you being so sad. Hopefully, she will make it through the train ride, and I will say that I think military doctors are wonderful. I can't wait to hear how it all comes out!! (Pun intended)! Your wreath is just too cute, but I LOVE the way you decorated your bike to match it! You are such a smartie. If I came for a visit, I probably would never make it inside the door-I'd be too busy admiring all of your treasures outside. laurie

Gloria,

My heart just goes out to you and Dawna with Jacob & Morgan leaving. I guess there is nothing you can do about it and I would be crying my eyes out too. Hang in there if you can. ;-)

It was so nice to see all of your outdoor things. I love the look of the old wagon wheels and the saw. And your bike is incredible!! The basket is just gorgeous and it all looks so retro leaning against your house (which I love!)

I could go on and on! All of your flowers are wonderful and I LOVE the window boxes!

I'll hush up now. You are just a sweet lady to take the time to make a post when you have so much going on. You and your whole family are in my prayers. Keep us posted sweetie...

Gloria, I just love all your red white and blue! And all of your yard and porch treasures are just great. I especially like the scale with the ivy. I'm so sorry that Jacob didn't get his extended leave. I know that you are worried sick about them on that train ride, but God will watch over them. I will certainly keep them all in my prayers. Just hope baby boy waits till he gets to Texas to be born - yippee! Seriously, will they be at Ft. Hood for awhile before they go to his permanent station? Let me know when that baby is born, at the very least I'd love to send them some flowers or something - sort of like extended bloggy family you know? Take care of yourself, and let me know if I can do anything for them. Hugs, Kathy

Oh Gloria, I'm so sorry Jacob didn't get the extended leave he was hoping for. I can't say I blame Morgan for wanting to go with him. First baby and all, she wants to be with her man when it's born! I'm glad you at least got to spend some time saying goodbye to him. I feel bad for Dawna though. She must be heartbroken!

Okay, that ice cream parlor chair made into a planter is the coolest idea, and I love the basket on your old bike! That bear is incredible! I've said it before and I'll say it again, I would LOVE to stroll through all the rooms of your house and just soak up the history!

I had to laugh when you said Amtrack baby:) I love the bike wreath and what you did to your old bike. I love all the American flags. I am sure it will all work with the baby in Texas. My son is army so I know how those leaves go. Take care and think about how cute that new baby will be when it decides to make its stage debut but just not at the Amtrack station!

You are one of the warmest and kindest hearted ladies in Blogland. Everyone is touched by your honesty and wonderful posts. Delete your blog? Hmmm....I think I would have flown out to CA looking for ya. LOL!

My father was in the AF while I was growing so I'm familiar with all the branches in our extended family. The rivalry thing cracks me up for sure. In the end your right they are all amazing individuls who sacrifice for us. I'm proud of all of them. :)

Let us see those new baby pics when the time comes!
Have a relaxing weekend my friend.

Gloria,
Nothing is more important then family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with your grandson his wife and their baby on the way. Young love concurs all and where there is a will there is a way. I was 9 months pregnant when my husband and I were transferred across the country so I can sure relate to what they are going through. Changing doctors and leaving loved one’s was not easy, but we did ok and 25 years later are still going strong. Oh, yes, I loved, loved, loved seeing the outside of your home. The red bike, adorable wreath, bear carving, crocks and flags are so cute I am ready to move in. ~Cathy~
