~IT"S ALL ABOUT LOVE~

It seems like every year at this time I start thinking about life...what I have done with mine...what I still want to do with mine...and how I wished we could all just live together and offer each other our comfort and support...We as females all seem to have the same thing in common...to be able to care and share...this is what I have most enjoyed about blogging...Oh yes!! its great to see all the YUMMY recipes, the BEAUTIFUL Tablescapes, the WONDERFUL decorated homes....but it really is all about the CARING and SHARING of LOVE that I feel here in Blogland..I have truly met some of the most amazing women here...and my wish for 2009 is to meet many more....
In a zoo in California , a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, died shortly after birth. The mother tiger, after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically, she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve. After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only 'orphans' that could be found quickly, were a litter of weanling pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger. Would they become cubs or pork chops ??? Now take a Look !!!

Now, please tell me one more time ........? Why can't the rest of the world get along??
Maybe the rest of the world needs to start a blog....

May all of you have a safe and blessed Year to come...I truly know God has blessed me with my family and my Blog Friends....
until next Year....hugs and smiles Gloria

~ 100 YEARS ~

What a difference 100 years make.... 1908- 2008

THE YEAR 1908 This will boggle your mind, I know it did mine! The year is 1908. One hundred years ago. What a difference a century makes! Here are some statistics for the Year 1908 :
************ ********* ********* ****** The average life expectancy was 47 years.
Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.

Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.

There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles
of paved roads.

The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.

The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!

The average wage in 1908 was 22 cents per hour.

The average worker made between $200 and $400 per year .
A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year,
A dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year,
and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.

More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME .

Ninety percent of all doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION!
Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which
Were condemned in the press AND the government as 'substandard. '

Sugar cost four cents a pound.

Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.

Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.

Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used
Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.

Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from
Entering into their country for any reason.

Five leading causes of death were:
1. Pneumonia and influenza 2. Tuberculosis 3. Diarrhea 4. Heart disease 5. Stroke

The American flag had 45 stars.

The population of Las Vegas , Nevada, was only 30!!!!

Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and ice tea
hadn't been invented yet.

There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.

Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write.

Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.

Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at the local corner drugstores. Back then pharmacists said, 'Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health'

Eighteen percent of households had at least
One full-time servant or domestic help.

There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE ! U.S.A. !

Just some fun facts I wanted to share with you today....hope all of you have a safe and blessed Sunday....

~EVERYTHING SUNDAY~

Hey guys...Sorry I have been MIA this last couple of days....But this was also my Family every thing Sunday..which started on Saturday, My Daughter's Gina and Barbra and family came then...so we had Christmas and Dinner until 2 am...got up at 5am to start all over again..with cooking, and waiting for my Grandson Jacob who is 21 to come with his Mom ,daughter Dawna and her family...and my grand daughter Candace and her life's love and husband Branden.. You see Jacob is going into the Army..and we wanted to have a send off for him..and what a day it was...We had a Birthday party for my son-in-law, Christmas party , going away party , and a proposal all in one day...tell me I wasn't tired..and my house we won't even talk about how you can eat off my floors right now..grab a fork girls whatever you want to eat is on them !!!!

Isn't this Banner the coolest thing...says it all...We will miss you Jacob....

The Big will you marry me Morgan ??? I just thought this was the coolest thing of Jacob to do right in my dining room...life does go on.. oops sorry Morgan I didn't get your head...what a great surprise that was as no one knew he was going to do this !!!I can so remember this little guy on his knees playing with toys in that dining room and now he is going into the Army and asking Morgan to marry him..or the memories I have when my family gets together...

The Happy couple...see Morgan Granny girl got your head in this shot...they will be getting married this Tuesday in city hall and not a day to soon..as you can tell Morgan is also pregnant...this baby is due in May...so I will have another Great Granddaughter..that will be named Olivia Gloria..Grandson also knows I am a sucker if he named the baby after me..there will always be lots of cookies and candy waiting for it at great granny house..oh and lets not forget birthdays and Christmas...way to go Jacob...your Mama didn't raise a fool...

This is the proud Mom and Grandma to be..my Daughter Dawna and her son Jacob...and of course my Dawna's baby Missy...this dog has paws but never use them to walk...as Dawna carry her all the time..told her she could sell this Dog and advertise it as "feet never used" The first picture is of Molly her other dog...we call them M&M .....and if you invite Dawna its a given that M&M will be there also...she won't leave home without her fur babies...

Now my new Great Grand daughter Kyra Shea...is in Children Hospital in Dallas, Texas...she will be having her surgery this morning some time..her proud Mom and Dad are staying at Ronald Mc Donald house and will probably be there a month while Kyra is recovering...all her vitals sound real good and Doctor said it will be a piece of cake for her..they will go into her side to do the surgery so they don't have to cut through the breast bone...never heard of this...I am so proud of my daughters and my grand kids...they all grew up to be so strong and really loving and caring people...and I pray that I also had just a little something to do with that..I know my heart was about to bust with all the pride I felted looking at them this past 2 days and how my grandson Josh is handling all he has to with his new daughter and being so strong and trying to comfort me...I can fly air planes, bungee jump, run my own business and take on the world if I have to...but when it comes to my kids and their family I just fall apart..when they hurt, I hurt and my heart just breaks every time one of them have a problem...and there is not one day in my life that I don't ask God to take care of them and thank him for giving them to me to love !!!!

Hope all of you have a safe and blessed day...I know I am very blessed...

~ IT"S ARRIVED SNOW AND BABY ~

Well girls....the snow has arrived to my mountain top...this is my driveway this is Sunny California ??? well not where I live no laying on the beach for me here girls !!! Today is also a great day for birthdays in my family...My oldest daughter Barbra is 49 today...don't tell her I gave her age away tho..but I so remember that great day back in 1959 as I was scared and only 15 years old..and had not a clue as to how to be a Mama...Seems like I had just packed away my "Tiny Tears" doll and now I had one with real Tears and messy diapers (before pampers) to play with for the rest of my life...and this one I couldn't just thrown in my toy box when I got tired of playing with it...OH for the "Tiny Tears" days when I wanted to sleep and she wanted to eat every 2 hours...and I would be trying to feed her and falling asleep on the job!!! and we won't even get into all those diapers...that had to be rinsed out and washed every day and hung on the clothes line to dry...I called it "White sails in the wind" just waiting to dry so I could fold them all...nowadays new Mama's have not a clue about washing diapers making formula from scratch. sterilizing all those baby bottles...and rinsing out poo diapers.. Which brings me to the other great birthday today... My Great Grand daughter Kyra Shea...finally decided at 12;49 am that it was time for her to made her appearance into our world YAHOO!!! she weight in at 6 lbs 12 ozs and is 20 1/2 inches long...She and her mama Heather are doing great and she is already nursing like a little Pig...My daughter Gina (grandma) has pictures on her cell phone and promised to send them to me when she gets off work today...and she better or I'll put Coal in her Christmas stocking this year...and Yes I still make Christmas stockings for my girls...talk about being spoiled rotten..that's still the one thing they still love from Mom at Christmas...I'll be in a nursing home still doing this for my girls... I bet Heather will have those Pamper thing with Kyra..
Hope all of you have a great and blessed day as for me its been great so far...what a Christmas present God has given me !!!

~ LIONS IN WINTER ~

Hey Guys...well My Grand Great Daughter has not been born yet...Mother is now schedule for 7 am tomorrow for delivery... Her name will be Kyra Shea...and as of December 4 th she was 7 lbs 12 ozs...I can't hardly wait for her to come...What a wonderful Christmas present my Grand son and his wife Heather are giving me for Christmas...YAHOO !!! Thought I would share my love of Lions with you today...I am a Leo and was a member of the Lions club for many years...So when I found this Dining Room set in 1980 it just SCREAMED my name....This set came from an estate sale in upper New york City and I am the second owner of it ca. 1880 .... Now this is the side board and it all tiger oak and very heavy...just wanted you to see all the detail of work that was put into it...as it all hand craved....
This is the front of it...it is over 6 ft long...and can you see all the Lions on it??? the 2 on the top are called Griffiths because they are winged Lions...

Now here a look at the side of the top...with the winged Lions...

This is not a very good shot of the table top...but the table has 3 leafs and 6 chairs that go to it and it opens up to 11 ft...

This is one of the chairs and it has all the original Horse hair stuffing and upholstery on it...its never been recovered since it was made...

Now this is the base of the table....its has 4 winged Lions holding it up and it also has a fifth leg that hide when there are no leafs in the table...right now I have 1 leaf in it...even the sides of the table are craved...love the claw feet on it also...

Now you can see the fifth leg... and let me tell you this table is hard to pull apart....without the leaf these half column will close and become one column...and you can't see the fifth leg at all...

This is just a shot of the end of the table base...see how beautiful those winged Lions are..they even has teeth....I was told it took over a year to hand crave this complete set and it was a special order item.....

This is the Lions on the china Cabinet... this set has 2 China cabinets with it...someone years ago must of loved Dish's like Gollum does to have 2 of them made...

this is just a shot of the top of china cabinet...and yes I have junk on top of it... I also collect dolls so this was a good place for me to put a couple old buggy and stroller...all the crystal here was my Grand mothers and Mama's... Hope I didn't bore you to death with my Dining room set...but just wanted to show you some of the pieces that came with it...there is also an Ice Box that match's it and High Chair...I will show those one day when I have more time...and not waiting for baby...

Hope all of you have a safe and Blessed day...only one more week to go and the BIG BOY will be up on my roof !!! and with the snow we have right now he should feel right at home !!!

Hugs and smiles Gloria
