~WELL GROOMED MAN~

Hello guys...well today is our fun day where we get to do a do-over of one on our past post....Like if you didn't get it right the first time you get to do it again ha ha!!...This is a post I did an January 07, 2009...Now please go by and see our great Hostess Chari at Happy To Design to see all the great gals having a Re-Do today...Thanks Chari for starting this fun day for us....
Hey!! girls don't you just love a well groomed man?? Today I thought I would share some on my manly stuff with you...I started collecting manly stuff about 11 years ago..when my late husband Wally and I were doing yet another addition on to our mountain cabin..I really wanted a his and her bathroom..so I did mine all in old vintage Beauty shop and his in Barber shop...Now this is the brass sign on one of my oldest pieces of furniture...I just love how it says Clinton, Ohio home of the west...that was way before Calif was the west girls...this Barber chair is very Victorian and really pretty...it all walnut and has a copper foot rest on it....ca. 1740 Now here is a picture of the chair itself...I just loved the swan arms on it...and it adjust to 3 positions....

Now this frame I got out yard sailing and my late DH made a shadow box out of it so I could showcase from of my straight edge razors and grooming brushes....see the naked lady brush?? even back then men were men!!!

Now the corners on this frame I found in an antique shop and just knew I could add them to my shadow box to give it an added look....Now girls those are not aspirins tins you are seeing there...they are prophylactics tins and they are from World War 1 and they still have the condoms in them...hey!! I told you I was a weird collector and yes I also have a frame with those in them...But this is a family friendly blog so can't show them...

Now this is just a shaving mirror, straight razors, razor strap, and that bull dog is an electric Mustache curler...and a set of razors...

this is the box of razors and what so special about them is that there is one for each day of the week...look real close and you will see they are engraved with the day...these are from England and this is the only set that I ever found that was complete in the box...

I just love this bottle of scalp tonic and hair clippers and look at the old Gillette Razor blades..

Do any of you Remember "Wildroot"" all men at one time used this to slick there hair back..this is just an old sign I have hanging...

Just another shot of the same stuff...didn't mean to show this twice...oh well too late now !!!

This is a Barber pole I have and a few things hanging on the wall...and yes Justine I have a Pink bathroom...

A comb and brush holder with a tin mirror on it...

Well guys I hope you enjoyed some of my Manly stuff today...and in the near future I will show you the Beauty shop bathroom...I also have an outhouse bathroom...Yes!! you heard me right...it even has an "outhouse" door on it...I just love all things that are different...Told you I march to a guitar instead of a drum...or as my Wally use to say " the Redhead is not a dead Head"

May all of you have a safe and blessed day...

Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria

Hi Sis...

Oooh...so glad that you made Sunday Favorites this week!!! What a perfect post to republish (but then...I would just love to reread any of your posts!!!)

Ohhh my, I just can't get over that fabulous barber's chair...it was pretty fancy wasn't it? And it just cracks me up...that Ohio was once considered the West...that chair is really old, my friend!!!

Of course, I always enlarge your photos so I can see all the details...but I just love that beautiful frame that Wally used to make the shadow box! And...I was admiring all of the beautiful, ornate handles on all of the straight razors!!! That red one is really pretty!!! Girl, I just cracked up when I read what was in those little tins...Hehe!!! You are definitely a serious collector!!! I love it!!!

Ohhh yes, and I just love your bulldog mustache curler!!! It just goes to show...that men even back in the olden days...primped!!! Hehe!!! Sis...I loved seeing this collection...so glad that you chose this post!!!

So you're thinking about a blog change huh? I really am liking the stretch minima template...so I can have nice large photos on my blog. You know, unless people click on your photos to enlarge them...they miss all of the details...which I just hate! Did you figure out how to enlarge the photos? It took me awhile to get it through my blonde head!!! Hehe!!! Well Sis...I hope that you're having a great weekend! We just got back from town...grocery shopping and going out to eat. It was such a beautiful day today, I enjoyed it!!!

Love ya honey!

Isn't it amazing all the stuff and gadgets gentlemen used to use? Now if I see young men whose boxer shorts are NOT sticking up higher than their pants, I think they took time to groom. (Have you ever seen one of these guys with the waist of their pants belted right underneath their butt? Ridiculous!

Have you been having a good weekend. Its been so pretty here.
Too bad I spent most the day inside doing laundry. ugh! :-)

Gloria, I learned so much from this post the first time, but I didn't recall the prophylatic tins. I enlarged the picture so I could get a better look at them, and those are so neat. (guys must not have used those things so fast back then if they had to keep them in a tin!). Did each tin have just one, or are there more than one in it? Yep, The Red Head is not a dead head, but she is one amazing lady! laurie

Here I was wanting to wind down from a long busy day and just take a moment to visit my dear sweet friend...hoping to see one of her soothing post maybe an antique churn or coffee grinder...

I am just so tired and wore out and I know just visiting my sweet friend would be the perfect soother before calling it a day...so I muster up the strength to turn on the computer..my eyelids are so heavy almost shut....but I just must say a quick hello to her..

Oh joy she is showing some of her beautiful antiques...she just always has the neatest stuff...just takes you back in time to a simple life..ahhhh yes ...this is the perfect end of a day...oh a shadow box with..with...with PROPHY... WHATS IN THOSE TINS!!!!!!!! OH MY WORD!!!!! My eyelids had flapped wide open like a runaway windowshade!!!!!!

It's all been a lie...my sweet innocent Gloria is a brassy woman...the next thing I know you'll be telling me you do pole dancing for Len on that Barber's Pole!!!!! Oh the horror....I'm wide awake now...might as well go me some chocolate....I need medication after this! lol lol

Lordy sis...I screamed outloud! You are such a doodlehead...I loved the antiques but never in my life have I heard of anyone displaying such...uh sis you don't have to feel obligated to leave that to me in your will! lol lol Love ya sis! lol

Wow, I enjoyed seeing your collections in both posts.
I buy black Jack Gum from World Market...it brings back a flood of memories from childhood every time I chew it.
You've got some wonderful treasures. I can see the necessity for creating more storage. You never know what antique you'll find next that needs a home. ;D

Sweet wishes,
Sara

Now Gloria, the only thing in that MANLY bathroom this is NOT manly is the color on the walls. You gotta do something 'bout that.
