~WILD HAIR DAY~

Happy Monday to every one...Now we all know what today is Susan's At Between Naps on the Porch http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ Met Monday...Please go by and see all the great Butterflies today...and Thanks Susan for hosting a fun day.. Now the first thing I had to do for this fun PROJECT was get out my "Honey do whistle " and get Len's attention...Now have you ever had a Wild Hair Day...of course you have !!!

Last March I am sitting in my old RED robe drinking my morning coffee in my living room and thinking how I don't like this room its too big and I wanted a office, So I used the "Honey Do Whistle" got Len's attention and told him lets put up a wall and make this 2 room's....So off to Lowe's I send him with his list... and that day he started framing in the wall....

Now here Is Len with his helper...hammering , sawing and fogging up the Air with their mouths !!! ( think soap in mouth )

Now the next day we had it sheet rocked and muddied....you do notice how I keep saying we?? well I am the Go-fer and the Picker-upper...the sandwich makers and the soda getter...so this is a WE project around our house...plus I have to then tell him for days after he does something what a wonderful job he did...pat his back...high five him !!! Oh the list goes on and on well you get the picture...

Now this is the new Wall....Of course the project that only took 3 days then...took a month waiting for new carpet to come in , new drapes, new paint job, new ceiling lite, new wall lites, and crown moulding...kinda like buying a new lamp shade and then redoing the whole room around it Ha Ha !! now we have all been there!!!

Now this is what it looks like now....I just love having a smaller and more cozy living room and also around that wall is my very own office now....

Now I hope all of you have a Great day and if anyone needs any information on where to get a Honey Do Whistle let me know !!! I buy them by the case because Len keeps breaking and hiding them!!

Hugs and smiles Glria

That is funny. Yes, they do like the great jobs and high fives don't they? I can totally redo a room and hubs will say, that looks good. He takes out the garbage and I need to praise him for a job well done!! Whatever. But your man did do a wonderful job and that was a great idea.
Oh yah...how in the world did you get it to start it that day. At my home, it would have taken at least 6 months. I have been working on crown molding for 2 years this coming April!

Linda (Nina's Nest) said...

Hey, you got 2 rooms for the price (sort of) of 1 - way to go. You are right - it is cozier - very inviting. I love the whistle! Linda

Let me get this straight--you mentioned splitting the room in two and that very same day your husband ran out bought and wood and went to work? I thought I had the best husband...but I think you win on this one! Great idea. Do you love both spaces? Your blog always makes me smile. It is a great place to visit anytime! Love, Paula

Well, hey, where do you get one of those Honey Do Whistles? More importantly, where do you get a honey who can build a wall?

I missed out on that particular lottery!
Great makeover; what a good idea you had. Terrific story!

What a great addition the wall made in your room! Isn't is amazing what a huge change a seemingly small project in a room can make? We added a wall too and it changed the entire room. Great Meta!

I definitely need a whistle to get DH's attention. He says at times he doesn't hear me and that could be true. He has aids in both ears due to hearing loss, results of ear infections as a child. With a whistle, he wouldn't have any excuse. To be fair though, he is more than willing, as a rule, to help me with any project I dream up. Tracy's right. I've got the man, just need the whistle. At times the problem is just getting his attention. I think your idea was a splendid one, and I know you will enjoy the office space.

What a great project.. and the walls only took 3 days?? And I'm still waiting on the insurance company to finish up?? There is something wrong with this picture..lol.. I can' wait to see what beautiful things lie on the other side of this wall.. after all you've got some mighty fine eye candy right here my friend.. I could sit here for days and visit with you... hugs ~lynne~

Gloria in this age of "tear down walls" It's wonderful to see someone putting them up! As a lover of old houses myself, I am not an open concept kinda gal! Alas I do live in an open concept house....And I would LOVE to put up some walls!! Maybe I could show these to DH and inspire him to get crackin'!.....I might just need to borrow that whistle girl!*winks* Anyhoo it looks great! Vanna
