~Fire Side Chat~

Hello guys, I thought today I would show you what I was up to last week....Thanks Susan for giving us this fun day to show-n-tell...Go by and see our Hostess to see all the fun things that have been going on this week in Bloggerville....

Now I hate this oak corner fireplace and have from day one...But I had a pellet stove that use to sit here and then we put in central heating and air...so I needed some thing to fill a hole ha ha!! I got this insert 2 years ago at Lowe's for only a $100.00 as no one really wants a corner fireplace...I found this great screen last year at an antique shop going out of business...but it still didn't make this thing look any better...

So what to do...well I got out my can of pecan minwax stain added some wooden do-dads to the front...

Now I like it much better...Not what I want yet...But it matches my Living room furniture much better now...

My Dear friend Chari at "Happy to Design" said how neat to have a corner fireplace so much room on the mantle to decorate...but I have a brick ledge here so its really hard to try and decorate around...I just covered it up with a scarf ha ha!!

set my marble box in the corner and put one of my many french clocks on it....

Added some old books on the brick ledge....

Hope you enjoyed my little make over....I have a secret...I'm trying to get my whole house done by Aug 7th as my daughter Dawna and I am going to be having a Baby shower on that day....You see I had the best Valentine's day present ever my Granddaughter Candace told me she is pregnant YAHOO!!! My whole family is so excited over this news as she lost a baby last year and it was so hard on her and our family..

So those that came by and seen the mess I have got myself into in this house this is the reason why...I want everything to be as perfect for this day as her precious baby will be to my family...We are so blessed...Please keep her in your prayers that all goes well this time....Thank you,

Until next time from my mountain top to yours,

You did a beautiful job my friend! If you can't delete it, then do the best you can, huh? :-) That is very exciting about Candace! I didn't know which girl was expecting. Will hold her in prayer and look forward to a healthy, happy pregnancy for her.

Don't overdo it with this house updating, ok? :-)

That is the most wonderful news about the baby! I really like the corner fireplace too. I miss having a fireplace so much. We had one in our last home. Was that a Tootsie crown I saw in the one picture? I'm so jealous!

Your fruitwood chair is awesome and perhaps, (and just take this as a suggestion,) is why you hate your fireplace is because it's oak? I love fruitwood, but don't care for oak. We've seen so much all over the place? Anyway! It's just an opinion and we've all got those!

Be sure to stop by AtticMag this week for a tour of my home.

You did a great job adding the do-dads and having them look as if they came with the fireplace. We don't have a fireplace in this house, we've always had one. I really miss having one and having the mantel to decorate!

I'll keep that baby and Candace in my prayers.

Girl, you did a fabulous job staining your fireplace...I love the new darker color!!! I think you got it matched perfectly to your furniture! I love the pretty wood embellishments that you added to the front...when you sent me photos the other day, I figured that the fireplace came that way! Very pretty...they add alot of interest to the fireplace front! Oooh...Sis, I love your little antique screen...it's gorgeous! Well you did it, Darlin'!!! Your fireplace looks fabulous! I love how you draped that gorgeous scarf over the back ledge and put your pretties on it!!! GRAND idea! I love, love, LOVE your marble box and french clock!!! It just makes that entire vignette, Gloria! Hey Girlfriend...maybe you can do a post on your french clocks??? I have seen a few of them but I would love to see more...and I bet everyone else would too!!! Just a suggestion...wink! Hehe!

Anyway, I love how the fireplace turned out...beautifully done, Girlfriend! Ohhh my goodness...Girl, you have been a busy little bee! Did you get all the trim stained in your bed/bath then? I just love the look of wood around the windows...soooo pretty!!! Girl, I just giggled and shook my head when I read your last post and seen the photo of your gorgeous display cabinet all torn apart!!! Eeekks...have you even had time to sleep lately? Hehe! Well...I know how it is...bet you feel great getting all of this stuff accomplished and all for the most GRAND occasion! You know that I'm just sooo excited for Candice and all of you!!! I'd like to cancel it because of all the snow. It snowed here all weekend...I think we got about 8in. But I cancelled it last time so better make this one. I'll talk with you later, sweet girl!!!

Everything is going to go beautifully for your daughter. I promise.
A baby shower! I love those! You will have it all together by then. You have lots of time. Just don't try to empty the entire place into the garage and patio and ...well..you know what I mean.
How could your home be anything else but stunning!

And yes, I have made HORRIBLE messes in my house, when I've been trying to clean it. As they say, you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs!

First off let me say a huge congratulations to you for the upcoming wonderful event of a new baby! YeeHaw!

I love your corner fireplace. I would gladly in a heartbeat trade my real one that takes up an entire wall for yours. LOL. I seen one of those crowns (like you have on your mantel) today at Hobby Lobby on sale for $2.00. I passed it up because I couldn't figure out what to do with it. Now I could kick myself right in the behind.
