God love her,
I surely do
Senior Patriot Moment
Here's a quote from a government employee who witnessed a recent inter-action between an elderly woman and an antiwar protester in a Metro station in DC.
There were protesters on the train platform handing out pamphlets, on the evils of America . I politely declined to take one..
The elderly woman was behind me getting off the escalator and a young (20-ish) female protester offered her a pamphlet, which she politely declined.
The young protester put her hand on the old woman's shoulder as a gesture of friendship and in a very soft voice the young lady said, "Lady, don't you care about the children of Iraq ?"
The old woman looked up at her and said, "Honey, my father died in France during World War II, I lost my husband in Korea , and a son in Vietnam.
All three died so you could have the right to stand here and badmouth our country.
If you touch me again, I'll stick this umbrella up your ass and open it."

Good Morning Gloria,
First of all thank you for your sweet comment on my blog :)
I just saw the film "Hurt Locker" last night and went to bed thinking what a sacrifice these young men and women make every day and how their lives are never the same. Your post today was so timely for me...I agree with you whole heartedly.
God Bless you sweet Gloria for never forgetting the gift of freedom...and at the hands of our very brave men and women.

Loved this, Gloria! And I hope and pray that my precious John gets the same type of ovation when he comes home from there! He's been twice.
XO,
Sheila :-)
LOVE IT!!
Great post. Some just don't get we need to support our military men and women.
Between my husband, step-dad, Dad, 2 Uncles, 1 Great-Uncle, nearly 100 years given to this country. I can even go all the way back to the American Revolution. Maybe being raised a military brat, I have a better appreciation...I don't know. It boggles my mind the disrespect shown our military men and women, even here in San Diego. A place I consider a military "town".
I could not do what they do. All the family members above served in a war, or two. My hats off also to the military families behind holding "down the fort" at home.
Blessings to all,
Jilly
Great post Gloria. And I love the video. As you know, we are very close to Ft. Hood, so we are used to seeing these brave men and women on a regular basis. I wish each one of them would get an ovation when they walk down the street. Hugs, Kathy
This is wonderful....thanks for sharing....GOD BLESS AMERICA...

Thank you for the support of our men who are sent to die, sometimes for reason they don't even understand. This is a subject I should not even try to comment on as my feelings go very deep.
When Patrick returned from Viet Nam, he was spit on at the airport in San Francisco. I'm not over that one yet.
The service was part of my life for most of my life. Thanks for the support. I wish our Viet Nam vets had had such support. I was at home with seven little ones and treated like dirt. Yep..not over it.
Hugs to you, my sweet friend.

God Bless America!! Well said. Some folks don't have a clue, do they? So many really don't appreciate the freedom we share. You're a doll and I hope you're doing well on your side of the mountain and the storms are far from you!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
