~ Give me Light~

Hello Guys, I don't know about you...But during the winter months I live in a dark cave...I sit here on my sofa and never have enough light to read by..

Think Gloria!! Thinks what can you do...well I have a barn full of stuff lamps included so I ventured out into it and got one of them..This is an Art Nouveau wall hanging lamp...Art Nouveau is French for "New Art" and was very popular from 1890-1905
Of course the shade is one I already had and was Nekked...I got these beads for .50 and just knew they would work great on this shade..
Just gives me a nice glow to read by now...
Now I think all of us at one time or another had these Can lights in our house...I have 2 of them in my kitchen..

I also have a Sky lite...But will tell you with all the trees up here on my mountain I don't have good light at all during the winter months...

One of my favorite signs in my sky lite doesn't everyone hang pictures in their skylights ha ha!!
Any hoo I found these at Lowe's and the price was only $20.00...Can you say love it..
Takes an ordinary Can lite and makes a hanging lamp out of them...all you do is screw it in..Can you say Love it...

Just gives me so much more light here at my island now..Can you say Love it..

I'm now no longer in the Dark ha ha!!
I'm joining Susan at "Between Naps of the Porch" for Met Monday as this is a Mini-Met ha ha!!
Thanks for stopping by my mountain and seeing me...

Until next time from my mountain to yours,
Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria

Gloria, you are so smart and so funny. I love your little wall light, how cute is that, and the hanging light over the island is fabulous. What a wonderful find. I have those awful track lights in my kitchen. Sure wish they were something else. You lighting problems are solved. Great job. Hugs, Marty

Hi Gloria! How are you? I've been away from blogger world but i'm slowly coming back. :D Love what you did! Oh gosh, we need some lighting in our living room. It's so dark during the evening hours. I may have to coax hubby that we need to go to Lowes. :D I hope you have a wonderful day.

Hi Gloria Sweetie...
What a beautiful share today. I love what you did with your little naked shade. How beautiful it looks with the trim. I love the way the light filters through the little crystals. So very pretty.

Now that kitchen conversion is awesome. I love it, and it solved your problem over the island. Speaking of your island, oh sweetie, be still my little heart. I love your island, especially all those drawers. Lovin the handles as well. I can also see quite a few beautiful glass jars in the background. Oh how beautiful it is Gloria. I hope you will provide a few more glimpses of your Kitchen in Heaven. Just beautiful.

Hope you are having a glorious Sunday sweetie. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Gloria, I love your little Art Nouveau light! It's funny that you've posted about lamps today...I was looking at photos of your beautiful Victorian lampshades this morning. Then later after that, I was going through a box of stuff I had packed up to take to the thrift store. There was a lamp in it that I had no shade for...well, you've inspired me! I pulled the lamp out of the box and I'm going to try making a Victorian lampshade for it.

Now for the foo-foo-shee-shee part, I love that little lamp and you did a great job on it. I live in a "mountain home" too and it can get a bit dark at times so this was a great solution.

Very clever...it feels dark in my house this year. We aren't having much sunshine and I have no northern windows except in the bedrooms. I think it is depressing. I changed the shades on my lamps to a lighter color to let more light come through.

Now, that conversion light from Lowe's is an excellent idea! I wish I'd known about it when I lived in South Florida. I used to always complain that I couldn't read at night in that house.

Have a nice week, Gloria, and stay warm!

Hi Sis...

Girl, I'm just coming from your "Dear Diary" post! Ohhh my gosh!!! Honey, I'm sending lots of prayer your way!!! Hope you're still praying for me too...still sneezing and fighting this allergy crap too!

Well sweet Sis, I just love your Art Nouveau lamp! Oooh...and I have to be honest...all I could think of while I was reading about you making that trip out to your barn was...how much I would have loved to have been with you! Girl, I just know that you have soooo many awesome things out in that barn...and I want to see! Hehe! Anyway, I really do love your new reading lamp and the dangling beaded trim is just what that pretty lamp shade needed! It turned out beautifully! Sooo happy that you have some good reading light now!!! Ohhh...and I love your new hanging light that you put in the kitchen! I didn't even know that they made those...where you could replace the can light! AWESOME!!! It looks fabulous! My kitchen and living room has can lighting...it really does offer nice light but it's not the prettiest...that's for sure! Sis, I didn't know that you had a skylight in your kitchen or at least I didn't remember (which may be more the case...hehe!) Ohhh...I love that! Girl, that moulding that you have up there is GORGEOUS!!! Love, love, Love IT!!! Ohhh...and I love your sign to...sooo cute! Hehe! Well Sis, so happy that you're "lighting up your corner of the mountain"...you're doing an awesome job!

I'm not doing much today...not feeling the best but I'm okay! Just same ol'...same ol'! We had a "northern" move into our area last night! It's snowing lightly but really, really cold! Supposed to get down to -20 tonight...brrr! So I'll just be concentrating on staying warm! Hehe! So happy to get a note from you, Darlin'! I'll talk with you later!!!

Love ya, honey!

OH how I covet all your wonderful lighting! My kitchen is just so dark!! They offered to put in the canned lighting when they put in the AC but ..I was afraid to ask hubby...he already spent so much and was getting a little edgy...so I opted to stay in the dark. :)
LOVE your lights, Gloria... :) *HEAVY sigh!!
