~SECOND SUNDAY DISHES~

Hello Friends...Well here it is our favorite day of the week where we get to play with our dishes....Now last month I show you the dishes I got from Second Sunday swap meet...See here

This china is from ca. 1940 it's Royal Ducal Horentine pattern...just loved it when I seen it...services for eight....I didn't have time to play dishes before my trip to Texas ha ha!!

But I'm back and playing again...as a rule I like to use a lace table cloth...but these dishes don't need a dress...

Oh Guys I love the cream soup bowls... with there own plates

Remember I also got these six Fostoria fluted glasses from the same booth I got the china from...Still can't find this pattern...BILL Help me please you know about all this fancy stem ware....Oh and girls if you have not been to Bill's blog " Affordable Accoutrements"
You need to do yourself a Huge favor and go see the wonderful tables this man can do...It a real drool on your keyboard moment...

Oh Look at these plates !! Love the gold trim on them...even if I have to hand wash them...

Coffee cup and saucer

Creamer and sugar...Oh yes this set came with serving bowls and 2 sizes of platters...

One of the serving bowls...

These were my Mama's they are also from ca.1940 Royal Doulton Company...

This one is called " Elegance " just seemed fitting to use them on this table with the china from the same time period...

One of the fruit bowls and saucers...Oh Yes each piece has it own saucer, Added little S/P at each place sitting...

Gold flatware...was my Hospice find for $ 10.00 services for 8 with the candle sticks, Napkin rings, and 8 S/P and the cutlery box...Not Bad...I just gave this to my Daughter Gina along with my Chintz China...But she have not picked it up yet so I played with it once again ha ha!! Napkins I got from Home Goods a few months back with aqua blue place mats for $ 9.99....

I Added 2 lace place mats to the center for my centerpiece and a basket from Italy...That I can't never remember the name of it starts with a C...does anyone know what this ceramic is called...I got it at an estate sale in 1998 and I think I paid like $25.00 for it then...

One of the serving Platters...

Bird's eye view...of the table for 4...

Now I just wanted to show you the base of my DR table, I Love the "Griffith's " or winged Lions, I got this table, 2 China cabinets , Sideboard and a matching Ice Box all from an Estate sale in upper New York in 1980...even the chairs have the original horsehair stuffing...the table has 3 leaves and extends to 11 feet its from ca. 1880 and I am only the second owner of it...If you would like to see more of this furniture pieces click here...

And I won't even tell you what I paid for this whole set....Lets just say it was my trip to Europe ha ha!!

So how do you like my tablescape from Second Sunday swap meet...total cost for china and stem ware $50.00 playing with the dishes again PRICELESS...

Now go by and see Susan and see all the great eye candy waiting for you today...I'm heading that way myself...

May all of you have a great day...And thanks for coming by and seeing little ole me!!

Hugs and Smiles Glria

Gloria...you always find the best goodies at Second Sunday...your china is exquisite! The gold flatware really picks up the gold in the china. I love your Mom's beautiful Royal Doulton figurines...they are lovely! Now I know where you get your love for beautiful treasures. :-) Your table is just amazing...can you even imagine the time and craftsmanship it took to make it...with all that gorgeous carving! Thanks so much for playing in the dishes for this TT! I always love seeing your wonderful tables! Susan

Awww, Gloria. You were so sweet to mention me in your beautiful post!

I think I commented on that gorgeous china the first time you showed it to us .. what a DEAL!
I don't recognize the crystal, but I'll see what I can figure out. If you send a picture to Replacements.com, they offer a free identification service (wouldn't hurt to hint that you might like to buy more of it sometime ... from them ... lol).

I almost lost it when you moved back and showed us that fantastic table of yours! Is it OK if I'm just a little bit jealous!

Thank you for your fun and thoughtful comment on my "Aluminum" post. It was very special ... I loved the part about SOS ... I wondered who'd be the one to say that ...

I might have known it would be the grand dame of this group!!! Hope it's OK if I call you that .. Your hubby might not like it if I said the hottest chick around! ;)

Bye for now ...
Bill

I'm still just green with envy over that fabulous set of china...and to think that you got a service for 8 with all the extras for under $50! The place settings are so beautiful...and I'm like you...love that pretty handled soup bowl...oooh, so dainty! You know, I really love the look of this china against that beautiful oak table...that beautiful wood really showcases the ivory china...so, sooo pretty! Sis, I love what you did for the centerpiece...your mama's pretty lady figurines and those gorgeous glass flowers...they're perfect together!!! This is really an elegant table, my friend!!! Ohhh yes...I just adore your dining room set...it really is the prettiest antique dining furniture that I've ever seen!!! It's just amazing that you have all the pieces of it...FABULOUS!!!

I'm wanting to play dishes soooo bad...especially since I have new lacy charger plates! Hehe! Maybe after my celebration giveaway. I've got too many irons in the fire right now...hehe! Girl, you would love that "Art of Accessorizing" book...I have gotten so much use out of it...so many great ideas! Are you crossin' your fingers? your toes? and even your eyes? Hehe!

Well Darlin'...I'll talk to you tomorrow! I really need to get some sleep tonight...just haven't been able to sleep lately. Only getting about 3 hrs a night and then it makes me feel bad all the next day. Pray for me, Sis!

Love you, Sweetie!

Hi Gloria!

Okay... I want the dishes, the stemware, the silverware, the centerpiece, (I wont take your Mama's ladies, that just wouldn't be right), and the table... YES the table!! It's all so beautiful girl! How do stand to live in such beauty??
I started drooling all over my keyboard when I saw the first pic of the dishes. I'm gonna need a BIG sponge to clean up my desk.

Big hugs, sherry

Hey Gloria, I love that china on the table with no table cloth. The gold really brings out the rich tones of the wood. The whole thing is so pretty. I'd give up a trip to Europe for that table, I don't like to fly anyway!
Can't wait for Oct.'s Second Sunday, I'm keeping the calendar clear!

I adore this china! The raised flowers, the gold trim is just so special. I agree that they don't need anything to make a beautiful table.

Your beautiful centerpiece is Italian--Capodimonte--and just lovely.
