~FROM A BUTTERFLY to A PRINCESS~

Hello!! Guys, Well here we are the last day of the month...Boy this month has gone by fast for me...I couldn't let this day past without remembering The People's Princess Diane...I still have a hard time believing Diane has been dead now 12 years today...

To say I admired this woman and what she tried to do is an understatement...I watched this sweet young thing at age 20 on July 29,1981 Marry her Prince Charming...I had to stay up all night to watch this ceremony...We had VCR's at that time but had just came out on the market and were like $1000.00 to have a home one...well just a wee bit out of my budget at that time..You see I just knew that young Princess was going to make a differ in the world...And she did not disappoint me...

I Love all things Diane....here is just a few things from my collection over the years that I wanted to share with you today...

I have Princess Diane Dolls....

Some of my plates...

These ones play music...

Black and white ones...

I have magazines from when she died...

I have paper dolls...

I have lots of newspaper's...

You see I have a very strong admiration for any one that will take their money and fame to try and help those less fortunate...This sweet young Princess didn't care if you had aids or was disfigured she would reach out and touch not just you but your heart...She could have choose to walk around with just a Royal wave and an empty purse hanging from her arm...But she choose to walk around with a BIG Hug and a Huge Heart and touched all she met...Like Elton John said she Lived her life like a "Candle in the wind"....Gone but not forgotten...She will always be a Flame in my heart...Princess Diane 1961-1997...

Now please go by Susan's at Between Naps on the Porch and see all the Great Met's posted for the day...

Thanks for coming by and seeing me....

May you all have a GREAT day...

Hugs and smiles Glria

hey mom! great post. Diana was a very special lady indeed...the world needed more like her.
and still does!
Your collection is just huge!!! I didn't know you had any of that stuff!!! you have hidden secrets all over the place!
I remember watching her wedding to Prince Charles...and thinking about how beautiful the dress was...and how she was so pretty! My sis and I played wedding for weeks after that!
Okay...well that's it for me...been building new beds and re-planting some old ones...I need a shower soooooo bad!
I am one dirty girl...and it feels good!
love you

Princess Diana on Aug.3,1997 and then John Denver on October 12. The world seemed strange and unstable to me...a feeling of dread...and then Patrick was gone. He was fine, out working then suddenly within ten days he was gone from me.
Each year the dread starts on this day.
Thank you for your wonderful tribute to Diana. You are right, it seems impossible that she is gone.
The ground now is shaky under my feet. It will never again seem secure and safe. I know how precious each day is.
These are strange times...

Your collection is wonderful! Thank you for sharing it with me.
How wonderful to have a photo of yourself with Diana.

Hugs and love,
Mona

Beautiful post and tribute, Gloria!!

I was working at Famous Barr, now Macy's, the year of her wedding. One of my duties was making silk flower arrangements. The fiance of one of the guys, working there, asked me to replicate Diana's bouquet, for her. I did and it is a happy memory for me.

What a beautiful post Gloria. I remember staying up all night to watch the wedding. And it was the strangest thing, on the night she died I left the tv on when I went to sleep (which I NEVER do) and woke up in the middle of the night to hear the breaking news of her accident. She really was a lovely young woman who did alot for those less fortunate. Thanks for this memorial. Kathy

Oh, Gloria~ Your collections are always so amazing. I love Princess Diana and remember watching the wedding when I was a little girl. The night she passed away they interrupted the tv show I was watching with a 'Breaking News' bulletin. I stayed glued to the tv ALL night. I was devastated. Incredible woman. There will never be another.

Hi Gloria,

How could we ever forget this special Princess? She was such a wonderful Lady. I sat up and watched the Fairytale wedding all those years ago.
I love your collection of beautiful memorabilia and the photo of you and her.
That was one of the saddest things hearing about her death and then watching her funeral.
thanks for sharing.

Hugs
Carolyn

This is a beautiful post! I've always had a great admiration for this beautiful young Princess too.
I took part in a post about Jackie Kennedy Onassis on her birthday and the theme was 'Grace' and I also posted pictures of other women of grace, and of course I included Princess Diana.
You have quite a nice collection.

My favorite picture of Princess Di is one of her when she was expecting one of her boys and she was at a big banquet, I guess she was very tired because a photographer snapped a picture of her in a beautiful blue gown, sitting very properly, but she was asleep! It just melted my heart.
My favorite video clip of her is when she was greeting her sons after being away from them, the love and excitement on her face, with her arms outstretched reaching for them, it was beautiful. And, of course, I love the pictures of her humanitarian works.

There's a hole in the world without her.

Great post! Thanks for sharing all your treasures.
All the best,
Eileen

I never knew this about you. I had a friend serving a mission in England at the time of the wedding so he wrote a ton about it home to me. I didn't keep the letters but I know he was fascinated with it. You have a wonderful collection. Cindy

I remember getting up VERY early in the morning to watch Charles and Diana's wedding. It was so very sad and tragic when she dies so young; my heart especially broke for her sons.

She was a very special Princess, indeed.

Too funny! Gloria, would you believe that I thought that picture of you and Princess Diana was real! I thought...it was actually her. I came back to look at your collection a second time and it hit me that she is WAX! :)

Oh...and Mother Theresa died in early Sept. too I think. We lost a lot in 1997. Patrick was in good company...I miss him!

Gloria, I had no clue about your admiration to the Princess. She WAS a wonderful woman, wasn't she? And although I didn't follow her life much (although I do remember staying up with my friend Diane, watching her wedding... we were 11), I was so shocked and saddened by her death.

I really love all your stuff, but especially the plates. So beautiful.

Justine :o )

What a beautiful post. She was certainly special. It seemed she had it all, every girls' dream. Yet like you said, it wasn't about her royal lifestyl, but about what she could do to ease suffering. Thanks for sharing your collection.

My daughter's surgery has been postponed, I might be able to make Second Sunday in Sept. Will you be going that weekend?

Hi Sis...

So sorry that I'm just now getting by...how have you been Sweetie? Hadn't heard from you in a couple of days so wanted to come by...

Ohhh...I'm so glad that you did a post on Princess Diane...she is one of my favorite celebrities!!! And like you said...I guess she's my favorite because she has such a big heart and did so much to help so many!!! I just think she was the most beautiful woman to have graced God's earth...we were certainly blessed to have her! It's a tragedy that she was taken from us so soon! I remember when we were in Paris...we drove throught the tunnel where that horrendous accident happened...it gave me such an eerie feeling and my heart was so heavy! Your post is such a sweet tribute to this beautiful lady!!! I really enjoyed looking through all of your Princess Diane memoriablia! Of course, I think the dolls are my favorite...but then I'm still just a little girl at heart...wink! My favorite is the Princess Diane doll in the wedding dress...ohhh my, that wedding dress was spectacular..wasn't it? I loved all the plates and especially liked the pretty rose plates with the gold gilded edges...are they the ones that play music? So beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing your fabulous collection with us...it really was such a treat!!!

Love you, Sis!!!

Now Di was a Princess but also a Lady! I love your collection! Now I can see gold chargers with the lovely plates and the dolls as the centerpiece! Now It would have to be just for looks! But it would be great to see, even if you would not dare let anyone eat off them!
