I thought I would share with you my 1 room cabin in the mountains... When we bought this place in 1976 it really was just a Cabin in the woods..This was our weekend get away place...
Now!! here our the Proud owners in 1977 in front of our Hideaway...Now this Cabin didn't even have a bath or shower...just a sink and toilet so when we came up here we really did rough it..I took many PTA baths !!! Oh you are asking what does the PTA stand for?? well its "Powder the Ass" Oh my did I say that?? you bet I did...
Now here we have Aunt Joyce and me out in front...see we have added a Patio and a cover and see that window well that's the shower we added YAHOO!! toss out the powder and give me some soap....1978
Now all of these next Pictures are the same spot in the Kitchen....This one is 1978 and this was the kitchen and that really was all the counter space in here and a 2 burner stove and don't you love my sign ??? that's how I felt when I had to cook in this small space...Now remember this cabin was 350 foot and that included the living room, dining room , bedroom, and kitchen..very cozy...
Now this was in 1988 when we first moved up here...we added a Living room, and bedroom on and then redid the cabin and made it into just a kitchen and dining area...At this time we were just moving in...but look at that BIG smile on my face !!! Now remember this is all the same area you are seeing through the years...
Now in 1996 we added a formal dining room on to this cabin and so again we redid the kitchen and this is what I have today...my Old Fashion kitchen that I always wanted...I had the blue and white tiles made and the Stove is an Elmira that I ordered and waited for 3 months to get..its a re pop of a 1850 Victorian stove...I had wanted this stove for 6 years and one day Wally just said go ahead and order your stove...because we are not going to redo this kitchen again... So now my little 1 room cabin in the woods is now almost 4000 sq ft...When people ask me how old is this house I tell them 1969, 1978, 1988, 1996, 1999, and 2005 Pick a year ha ha!!! Hope you enjoyed seeing my 1 room Cabin...I have done 5 additions onto this little cabin in 27 years....
Thanks Chari for giving us this day to do a do-over...
May all of you have a Great and Blessed day...
Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria

Gloria, I remember this post of the first cabin, I did not realize you are living in it with all those big lovely rooms! What wonders you have done. I still love that stove! lol I guess I shall never get it! I'll just admire yours! I loved your note about the washing machine! I had to laugh, I can see all those diapers sailing in the wind. I was hanging out clothes for my family back then, but Mama did get her first updated washer then. My hubby loved hearing about your experience with the washer. I going to use it as decoration in the laundry room! Hope it fits. lol Love your little big Cabin in the woods!
Hi Gloria,
I loved seeing your cabin in the woods. How neat that you were able to add on to it and make it a lovely home. I laughed at the PTA.
Also love your stove ~

Hi G! Just stopped in to say Hi! I remember this post...it's amazing the vision that you and Wally had and then the determination to carry out your dreams to create the oasis that you've got now! Hope little Kyra is feeling better!

Hi Sis...
Ahhh...I just love this post!!! I know that it's such a sweet walk down memory lane for you, Sweetie! I still find it so amazing that your big, beautiful house started out as a itty-bitty cabin...but that itty-bitty cabin was just the cutest thing ever!!! Ohhh my...and it grew up to be such a beautiful thing!!! Hehe!!! I loved seeing you in all the photos...Darlin', you are such a beautiful woman!!!
I giggled when I was looking at the photo taken in the 80's...had noticed those "ever so popular" white geese...I had some of those exact same pieces at my place!!! Hehe!!! Well Darlin'...thank you so much for sharing this post with us today...I'm just elated that you joined in with Sunday Favorites...thank you!!!
Have a super Sunday, Sis!
Love ya,
Chari
Ooops...just me again. Wanted to tell you that I just love your new header mosaic...Girl, it's gorgeous!!! As soon as I seen it...I was thinking that it could be an ad for a beautiful Bed & Breakfast!!! Your home is fabulous!!! Love you...Chari
What a great make over, since I am new to you blog, this is my first time to see the Cabin in the Woods.

Gloria,
I loved this post and I love it again! You are so cute in all those pics and what an amazing place to have! I am so in love with your home, it is a treasure for sure~ Hugs, Cindy
Hi Gloria!
What a darling cabin! I love the photo of you in 1978! I looked that thin in 1978 too!! I'm alot fluffier now though... but I still remember that thin time of my life. I want to see MORE of your cabin! Are you going to do more posts on it?? I hope!
The swan tassel from Melissa was so adorable. And such a perfect place to hang it. Such a place of honor. It's so wonderful to "adopt" young gals that need a special mom isn't it? I know you mean so much to her.
Have a blessed Sunday!
Hugs, Sherry
Enjoyed the repost of your cabin's metamorphosis. Is it hard to remember what it once was? We just knocked out a closet, and already I can hardly remember what it looked like before! Have a great week. Sally
Good Morning Gloria, I never tire of looking at all your beautiful pictures of your home... Have a blessed Sunday my friend!

Wow that really is a metamorphosis. The stove is really a showpiece. I love it.
You have great vision.
I'm loving it. I loved it as one room too!
Oh Gloria, How I loved reading this post and seeing the changes through the years - both of you and the cabin. You have BOTH gotten better with age!! You were beautiful then, and you are just as beautiful now!
Love ya, Kim
Love that stove and kitchen. You did a great job on the house. I just love your blog, and the fact we both love antiques.
Sandy
Oh I just absolutely loved that little time travel. :) Thanks for sharing. You know what's neat? You showed us your Elmira stove and... I live in Elmira! Yes, THAT Elmira, in Ontario Canada. I always smile when I see stoves from this teeny little town all over the world. :)
Nice place with inspiring photos. Your newest follower here. :)
