I just love this post. My dad worked for newspapers as a reporter for many years, so we have always had a special interest in them. The ads are just fascinating to me--a real window into another way of life, almost like being able to get in a time machine for a little while.
Interesting post g, thanks for sharing. vickydarnell
What a great post and what awesome papers!! How do you manage to find them? What a keepsake - love it.
Thanks for sharing them with us.
Have a good weekend.

Morning girl..I love seeing old newspapers like that...and I love the way they really played up those advertisements...man look at those deals..but then again back then that would have been top dollar! lol lol Great post girl...have a beautiful Friday!
What treasures you have. My son, Travis has saved all the papers from the Olympics that were here in Utah. I keep wanting to throw them out but he keeps them. He tells me that right now they sell on ebay for about $35.00 for the set so maybe someday they'll be worth a lot of money. I just don't want a fire hazard! LOL! However, when they get this old they are certainly a treasure and so much fun to look at!
Morning, Gloria! Oh, I just love looking at old newspapers and the ads. Now honey, I want me some of that perfect woman stuff!! Mr. Precious wouldn't know what to do with me then!! lol
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Hey Gloria, just wanted to stop by and say Hi, finally made it here. Enjoyed the old newspapers. Love ya! Sasha

Love the old newspapers! I bought my hubby a box of clay pigeons and they were all individually wrapped up in old newspaper- had a blast reading them!
blessings to you!

What a wonderful step back in time.. I love the fashion of the day.. abit on the tailored side with some spark with the hats...and I would sure love to have that gorgeous sideboard..not quite sure where I would fit it in..I'm sure I could if I could find one today at that price..lol.. hope all is well on the mountain..hugs ~lynne~
This was fun...and I sure would buy that $29 sideboard! ;-) Bo
I love looking at old newspapers. I had to really discipline myself when I was tearing up my kitchen floor to just put the newspaper between the layers of linoleum aside to read later otherwise my floor would still not be done. If you get a chance I posted some pictures in progress of the different floorings I uncovered clear down to the original wood floor when the kitchen was built. The first linoleum was put down in the 40's judging from the newspapers and it looks like it was pieces left over from a job, the man that lived in the house at that time would have been a carpenter. I really like the blue and white stuff though.
Have a great weekend.

Gloria, I have always LOVED old newspapers. Some of the old ones I found in the attic at my parents house are so brittle, I'm afraid to touch them. Yours are so wonderful! Do you have a secret for saving them? The ads are always so interesting and funny. I wonder if people in the future will look at ads in our newspapers and say, "I can't believe they had to buy that gasoline for their automobiles. That sounds like a lot of money for 'back then'!" Thanks for sharing these wonderful relics. laurie
Oh girl!! Aren't they fun?!!!! And what prices!! Like you said, how fun would it be to go back then and go shopping with $100! I have a huge stack of wills from the very early 1800's where people have listed all their worldly goods and their value. It's sooo interesting to take that step back in time. I LOVE your sharing all your wonderful treasures from the pasdt with us!! Makes me HappytoSee!!! *winks* Vanna
I wished we could still buy that sideboard for $ 29.00 ; sigh .LOL

oh, gosh...I love those prices but, wouldn't it be hard living to go back to those times? What would we do without tv, microwaves, CELL PHONES!! LOL
I will add your name to my sidebar under my prayers for people with cancer and the blessed survivors, if it is ok.
Sure enjoyed looking at the old papers and, yes, the sinking of the Titanic was such a terrible shame and never should have happened....

A very enjoyable post. The prices are unbelievable. Don't think I would be willing to give up my indoor toilet, to live back then, however.
