~~EXTRA ..EXTRA..READ ALL ABOUT IT !! ~~~

This is real world making news....1906 San Francisco Earthquake and fire... I love all antiques even old new papers, these are just a few I wanted to share with you...So lets all take a step back in time. I love the fact that everything was Illustrated at that time...

WOW !!! how time consuming was that?? They earned their money then...

The Fashion of the day!!! and look at the prices...what am I saying LOOK at the style's

Oh and you too can be a PERFECT woman just by drinking this stuff ??? sounds like a V8 juice to me !!! and check out the furniture..we now pay top dollar for this stuff and most paint it white and call it Shabby Chic...

1912 and who doesn't remember the sinking of the Titanic!!! what a great lost that was...too many people aboard and not enough life rafts...how very afraid and brave these people must have been...the unsinkable Molly Brown was even aboard and that how she got her name..Also one of the riches men in the world John Aster lost his life..he gave up his seat in life raft so his young new pregnant wife could be saved...so many men did this...huh!! wonder what they do now days ?? Speaking of MEN I love this advertisement for weak , worn- out Men..see girls they had a cure then back in 1912...Wished I could find this and see if it would give my Len a jump start, he has no disease but claim he Worn out ha ha!!!

Furniture of the day ... can you believe those prices?? I have that side board in my guest bathroom and I wished I only paid $29.00 for it....its a great piece for keeping guest towels and soap and extra toilet paper in...Also have one of these Bedroom sets in my Guest room...Oh to go back with just a $100.00 and do some shopping now...wouldn't I have a ball and a house full of great Furniture...

Well Guys I hope you all enjoyed this step back in time...Hope all of you have a safe and happy weekend ..I'll see you all on Monday and show you more !!! Hugs and Smiles Gloria

I just love this post. My dad worked for newspapers as a reporter for many years, so we have always had a special interest in them. The ads are just fascinating to me--a real window into another way of life, almost like being able to get in a time machine for a little while.

What treasures you have. My son, Travis has saved all the papers from the Olympics that were here in Utah. I keep wanting to throw them out but he keeps them. He tells me that right now they sell on ebay for about $35.00 for the set so maybe someday they'll be worth a lot of money. I just don't want a fire hazard! LOL! However, when they get this old they are certainly a treasure and so much fun to look at!

I love looking at old newspapers. I had to really discipline myself when I was tearing up my kitchen floor to just put the newspaper between the layers of linoleum aside to read later otherwise my floor would still not be done. If you get a chance I posted some pictures in progress of the different floorings I uncovered clear down to the original wood floor when the kitchen was built. The first linoleum was put down in the 40's judging from the newspapers and it looks like it was pieces left over from a job, the man that lived in the house at that time would have been a carpenter. I really like the blue and white stuff though.
Have a great weekend.

Gloria, I have always LOVED old newspapers. Some of the old ones I found in the attic at my parents house are so brittle, I'm afraid to touch them. Yours are so wonderful! Do you have a secret for saving them? The ads are always so interesting and funny. I wonder if people in the future will look at ads in our newspapers and say, "I can't believe they had to buy that gasoline for their automobiles. That sounds like a lot of money for 'back then'!" Thanks for sharing these wonderful relics. laurie

Oh girl!! Aren't they fun?!!!! And what prices!! Like you said, how fun would it be to go back then and go shopping with $100! I have a huge stack of wills from the very early 1800's where people have listed all their worldly goods and their value. It's sooo interesting to take that step back in time. I LOVE your sharing all your wonderful treasures from the pasdt with us!! Makes me HappytoSee!!! *winks* Vanna

oh, gosh...I love those prices but, wouldn't it be hard living to go back to those times? What would we do without tv, microwaves, CELL PHONES!! LOL
I will add your name to my sidebar under my prayers for people with cancer and the blessed survivors, if it is ok.
Sure enjoyed looking at the old papers and, yes, the sinking of the Titanic was such a terrible shame and never should have happened....

A very enjoyable post. The prices are unbelievable. Don't think I would be willing to give up my indoor toilet, to live back then, however.
