~Going Green~

Hello guys, Don't you just love adding plants to your home...I know I sure do..Now that the weather is getting cooler here on my mountain top and all my flowers have died out for the year I still wanted to see something growing in my house besides my butt...ha ha!! I found this beautiful Maiden hair fern and just knew it would be so sweet to see each day...

I sat it on the little table in my entry way...If you want to see my entry Please click Here...
I love my French mantle clock it's from ca.1880 all brass and weights a ton...And girl's did I tell you that if you have antique clocks Please don't move them around...It really hurts the insides of them and clock repairs on antique clocks are very costly...Just dust around them and under them...

I love this little half table with the faux marble top...Underneath is an Art Deco photo stand ca. 1920 and photo album from ca.1890

Love this blue/white planter...just added some color here with the fern..

Love the shell moffit here...

The top of the Mirror...everyone knows you have to have a mirror in an entry to smooth your hair and old Red robe before opening the door... And scare the poor man in the brown truck to death...

My plate holder that hangs next to it...Is this not a fun holder with the candle holder attached...

My picture is a tin type from ca. 1880...and next to it is one of my Yard Long Pictures... It's a Pabst brewing company advertisement 1903 if you want to see all my collections of Yard Longs Please click Here...

Now guys if you have not entered my second year of blogging give away Please take the time to do so...I'm offering a $50.00 gift card from Amazon.com and a Pink 135 piece tool kit just for the lady of the house to use...Enter here and Leave me a comment so I can add your name to the hat ...

Plate is RS Germany...all hand painted Oh I just loved the way they use to do things years ago...so much pride in workmanship then...

I am joining in with Marty at " A Stroll Thru life " for Table top Tuesday Please go by and see all the fun tables today...

Thanks for coming by,

Until next time from my mountain to yours,

Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria

Gloria, I love that maiden hair fern. Great blue and white bowl that it sets in. I don't have an antique clock, but if I ever do that is nice to know about not moving them much.

Gl♥ria, the fern is delicate and lovely in that planter. I never take the time to put indoor plants in pretty planters. Probably because I have not been blogging for that long. hugs♥olive

I always love visiting your home and seeing your collections. It is so rare to see quality antiques in someones home, especially someone who know how to decorate with them like you do. I so appreciate your sharing.

Maidenhair ferns are beautiful...and look good anywhere you put them..but for some reason or another..I cannot grow them. They last...oh...maybe two or three weeks, IF I am lucky..and then suddenly I feel the little leaves...and they are like paper. Deadernadoornail! I finally stopped trying. However..where your's is there is lots of bright light and it just might make it. I have often wondered where they grow these...probably in bright hot houses.

Wsprsweetly Of Cottages said...

I had to go look at your entry again...soooo pretty! No worry about bumping your head there!!

I LOVE maiden hair fern. We used to grow thousands every year. I'm not sure why we stopped cause they are gorgeous!

Hi Gloria,

I loved having a peek around your home today and that is good advice to know about the clocks. I have one and often take it off the mantle to clean.
Your clock is fabulous and the maidenhair fern in the blue and white pot is lovely.
Hope all is well with your family and that you have a great week

Hugs
Carolyn

Hi Gloria, the whole vignette is just lovely and the maidenhair fern is perfect there. That fern is one of my very favorites. Unfortunately, I have a faux one, which can't really hold a candle to the real one. Think I might get a real one, like you did! Linda

What pretties you have, Gloria.
I, too, love live green plants...I brought in my big Boston fern from the front porch. I hope it survives...THEY say that losing leaves is to be expected when you move them inside...just hope they ALL don't fall off.
hugs!!

I know I've promise to call and about the time I do something has come up. so.... now I'll just surprise you and do it. It depends on whether or not Mr. P's daughter comes tonight, she usually comes on Tuesday's while her husband bowls. I know you're enjoying that darling baby boy. Aren't they just the best? ok.. my "short" break is over. I'm trying to get the shop ready for Christmas.. my open house is in 2 short weeks.. yikes.. I'm off to work. All the items in your entryway are just spectacular, Gloria! I'm so fond of that gilded era...it sings to me.
Your plate holder with the candles is most unusual...I was hoping those were your ancestors!

The maiden fern is such a soft spot of natural color...PERFECT accent!

Your entry way looks very elegant, with many loved items. And I have never seen that type of fern before. Love it! Although I have a brown thumb and would kill it in a week! ;)

Every time I see a fern I think of my gran because she had them all over her house:-) I remember this one huge one she had in the dining room that I was fascinated with!

Your entry table is absolutely gorgeous but then I love everything in your house:-) You just have such a knack of knowing what goes with what. xoxo

I bet you have a green thumb, because your plants look so healthy!
I think I entered your giveaway but I will go check to make sure.
I have been so busy helping daughter with the baby that I am getting brain fog.
Or maybe it's just granny's disease!
hehe.

Bee-yoo-tee-ful.

I LOVE the fern in the old blue and white planter. Gorgeous. And I never knew that about antique clocks. I only have one, but maybe I know now why it stops working sometimes!

My Dad used to repair it for me, but he's not up to that anymore, sadly.

Anyway -- gorgeous. And when you answer the door to the UPS guy, remember that you may be wearing your old red robe, but HE is a grown man wearing SHORTS.

Love Cass

Hi Gloria! I'm finally feeling better and had to come see what you've been up to.

Dust? I'm supposed to dust? Makes me sneeze so I just leave it alone till I can chisel it off. It dosen't get airborne that way! Ha!

Hugs,
Dawn

God bless you sweetie and have a spooktaular weekend!!! OOooooooow!

What interesting and unique treasures you shared.. The candle-plate holder caught my eye.. And yes we all need green in our homes. We compliment each other...meaning they give off what we need and we do the same...at least that's what I've been told.
Have a safe weekend
