An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.
One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.
But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.
'The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? ''That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.
'For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.
Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.
'Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.
You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.
SO, to all of my cracked pot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the Mountain.
Hugs and Smiles Gl♥ria

What a sweet story. I'm anxious to see your year anniversary post...I know it will be fun!

Gloria, whatever it is, it looks beautiful, and yes, I am definitely a cracked pot, but hopefully somebody still sees finds something good in me. I love that story, but once, when I emailed it to a friend, he wanted to know why she didn't plant on the other side of the path and switch the pot every other day, so flowers would grow on both sides. Some people just over-analyze everything! laurie
Hi Gloria,
Sure we all love to peek in windows at night, though none of us will admit it. I think it's to look at how it's furnished.....don't you think ?
btw, thanks again.... You are a great friend !!!!!!! You should see my test blog, WOW. your advice worked so well. Now I'm changing the font as I just can't leave well enough alone.
Stay warm.

Oh, Gloria, you are such tease with that giveaway. I'm nearly dead to see what it's going to be! I love the story about the cracked pots. Thanks for sharing, and I'm really looking forward to the 19th!
I haven't thought of this story for years! But how true. We each have our own little idiosyncrasies, and that's what makes us such unique individuals. How fun that you got to meet Dawn. Wouldn't it be such a ball to meet everyone we've come to love on our blog lists?
hugs, Sue
Gloria...I would become a follower, I just don't remember how. I just come over through my Blogroll....so if you remind me how to do this...I will follow you!!

So sweet! Hugs from one of your crack pot friends! ☺
This is a great post, Gloria. I love the story and will remember it forever. And yes, blogging is sort of like looking through windows at night, because we will probably never know one another in the daylight. Oh, that makes me sad...
Congratulations on winning Mrs. Magpie's giveaway. And I still have no clue what you have up your sleeve for yours!!!
xoxo

All of us bloggers must have started around the same time Gloria - my one year is today actually! I think we all migrated over from RMS when it started getting really ugly - I like blogging so much better!!
Come over and enter my giveaway if you get a chance - it's on until the end of the week!
I'm so glad we are all blogging and not trudging through RMS anymore!!
Happy Wednesday Girl -
Gloria, I love that story - really sweet! Linda
Noooo! I'm sorry girl. Being without power is the WORST.
Did you ever get my e-mail about all of this blogging stuff? I sent you a long one after you replied to mine. Hmmm....:)
Take care and don't trip in the dark house. ~Melissa :)
Too cute; how do you come up with this stuff. I can't wait to see what you come up with; that's scary and so close to halloween this is could be interesting. Yes, I guess you have a few cracked pots in blogland.
What a beautiful story that was!!!!
I can't wait to see what you're giving away.
Justine :o )
I'm smelling the flowers. I just want to take a picture of one too!
Brenda
I love that story. The video of the bride and groom was quite entertaining. I have never seen a medley danced to. That was fun. The solo by the groom was so cute. I know you will have a great give-away. I will be having one in early Nov. for my blogaversary also.
You know I can't leave a follower icon either, Google says can't honor my request. I deleted all my cookies and that didn't help either.

You must be getting some of the rain we had yesterday! It rained all day long! Stay dry!
Gloria-my name is Sue! I try to always sign it at the bottom of my comments, but it is easy to miss I guess. When I started the blog, I wanted to focus on the "mom" advice and hints...so, I went with using someone's mom. I'm in too deep now to change it, but I'm not hiding my name. You can call me "girl" anytime you want. At 54, it doesn't happen much:)
I appreciate that you always come visit. Sue
I knew I was cracked for a while now...lol

Oh mom...he's only 10...why do they have to grow so fast!
