~ COOK"S DELIGHT~

Hello Guys, I hope all of you had a great weekend...A few of you months back asked me about my olden stove when I posted my Gingerbread Kitchen...see here So today I thought I would tell you about it...I had wanted this stove for 7 years every time I would see it in Country Living magazine I would drool and dream about owning it...Oh Yes I loved the old looking lines of it...its so reminds me of my Grandma old wood stove that she cooked some of the best meals on.... My grandma lived on a farm in Iowa and they grew everything that she would cook...Every summer as a little girl I would go stay with her and help with the garden and canning...She use to say " We eat what we can, and what we can't we can" This to me was like a trip to Disneyland to spend the summer at my grandma farm...Of course it was also before Disneyland...Oh the great memories I have from being on that farm...Eating fresh corn right off the stalk, breaking watermelons right in the field and trying to eat the whole thing ha ha!! That was until the day I seen a snake !!! Ended my eating like a field hand ha ha!!
Any hoo I really wanted and loved this stove...In 1996 we were again remodeling our kitchen and my Late husband said "Glory this is the last time we will do this" so if you want that stove you best order it now...Well these stoves are custom ordered from Canada from a place called Elmira stove works...I ordered it the way I wanted it...all electric 4 burners with convention oven, self cleaning of course...something my Grandma would probably of loved to have...And each thing you order differ on them cost you more of course...But hey Wally did say this was my last rodeo...so I ordered and ordered ha ha!! all the chrome was extra, the spice rack, the paint job, etc. It took 3 months for it to come...Oh girls I was like a kid at Christmas time waiting for this stove I kid you not...

I could hardly wait for them to hook it all up...I just knew I would have these wonderful smells in no time coming from my kitchen right !! Wrong...You see they forgot at the factory to bake the top of the ceramic on the stove...so as soon as I put a pot on it and turned it on...the whole top cracked like glass...Oh girls I just cried, called the company and the first thing they tell me is that is got to HOT !! well of course I had to remind them this is a Stove and it's suppose to get HOT!! Any hoo after a week of going back and forth with them...they had to make me a new stove...which I had to wait another 3 months for...but I was told to use the old one until then...duh !!

Oh this warming oven...is not a warming oven at all....

You see if you open it up it's the controls for the oven....

Even the inside is painted like an Olden stove...

Now I have had many people that have come here ask me how I can get a turkey into this oven...As you can tell the doors are so little right !! wrong again...

These doors do not open...they are for that olden look only...As you can tell I have a big oven just like you do ha ha!!

So there is my 1850 cook's delight stove that was made in 1996...Now if only I could make the wonderful smells come out of it like my grandma did...sighs...

May all of you have a Great week...as for me I am still trying to get my guestroom done...I know whats taking me so long...Well we have a Indian casino here and I love their buffets...how ever we went there for dinner on Thursday night and as always I ate like no tomorrow with all the shrimp and crab...And about 6 hours later I got so sick with iodine poisoning...Oh guys I spend over 6 hours in the bathroom and the whole weekend I was sick from it...Of course I was find to go to Second Sunday swap meet yesterday...Hey I wasn't dead just green ha ha!! will have to show you the most beautiful china I got from there...and another bust to add to my collection...Does it ever stop ???
