~ IT"S ARRIVED SNOW AND BABY ~

Well girls....the snow has arrived to my mountain top...this is my driveway this is Sunny California ??? well not where I live no laying on the beach for me here girls !!! Today is also a great day for birthdays in my family...My oldest daughter Barbra is 49 today...don't tell her I gave her age away tho..but I so remember that great day back in 1959 as I was scared and only 15 years old..and had not a clue as to how to be a Mama...Seems like I had just packed away my "Tiny Tears" doll and now I had one with real Tears and messy diapers (before pampers) to play with for the rest of my life...and this one I couldn't just thrown in my toy box when I got tired of playing with it...OH for the "Tiny Tears" days when I wanted to sleep and she wanted to eat every 2 hours...and I would be trying to feed her and falling asleep on the job!!! and we won't even get into all those diapers...that had to be rinsed out and washed every day and hung on the clothes line to dry...I called it "White sails in the wind" just waiting to dry so I could fold them all...nowadays new Mama's have not a clue about washing diapers making formula from scratch. sterilizing all those baby bottles...and rinsing out poo diapers.. Which brings me to the other great birthday today... My Great Grand daughter Kyra Shea...finally decided at 12;49 am that it was time for her to made her appearance into our world YAHOO!!! she weight in at 6 lbs 12 ozs and is 20 1/2 inches long...She and her mama Heather are doing great and she is already nursing like a little Pig...My daughter Gina (grandma) has pictures on her cell phone and promised to send them to me when she gets off work today...and she better or I'll put Coal in her Christmas stocking this year...and Yes I still make Christmas stockings for my girls...talk about being spoiled rotten..that's still the one thing they still love from Mom at Christmas...I'll be in a nursing home still doing this for my girls... I bet Heather will have those Pamper thing with Kyra..
Hope all of you have a great and blessed day as for me its been great so far...what a Christmas present God has given me !!!
Hugs and smiles Gloria

Oh Gloria!!!

What a blessed gift and Congrats to all!!! That's neat it's on your oldest daughter's B-day as well.

You are an amazing lady that's having a great life. I'll bet you could write a book to tell us all your interesting stories about it. I'd read it.

The snow is beautiful. Stay warm and enjoy it!

~Warmly, Melissa :)

Well!! Congratulations GREAT Grandmom!! What a thrill, and now we know how you became a Great Gma at so young an age. You got an early start!! These young girls just don't know what it's like to do those diapers day in and day out for years, do they? Hanging wet diapers on the line in freezing weather; being dead tired at night and still needing to fold diapers, sterilize the bottles and make formula. Was it harder for us? I don't know - we just did it, right??? Have a glorious day. Sally

Oh Gloria.. Congrats GreatGramma!! What a wonderful Christmas present. New baby and snow! What more can you ask for? Happy Birthday to daughter Barbra!! Have I ever told you my mother's name was Barbara? Different spelling, but still a great name huh? I believe I'm as anxious to see the those pictures as you are... I loved your story with the tiny tears doll.. Washing out dirty diapers daily and hanging them up to dry sure brings back fresh memories for me as well. We just got our lights back a bit ago after the ice we had last night. Dh even said if they didn't come on soon he would have to hook up a small generator for the computer..lol Oh lots of hugs for you today.. What a special day for you...hugs ~lynne~

Hi Gloria...what a great Christmas present for your family, indeed... I know you are anxious to "meet" her and hold her in your arms. Your diaper days recollection brought back those same memories for me too...Whew, that was work!
Your story about being a mom at 15 reminded me of Loretta Lynn...
LOL ;-) Bo

Gloria... I am so HAPPY for you... Yes you started early but look at how wonderful you did and what you started... Oh my goodness a Great Grandma... I love it and you still so young... Happy Birthday to your new little precious one Kyra and to your daughter... oh to even be 49 again right??? I remember rinsing those cloth diapers and letting them soak in the diaper pail until I had time to wash them... LOL LOL

Loved your snow pictures I wish I was there with you... It is so funny about the Christmas stockings... My girls always want me to do them for them too.... They say no one else can stuff a stocking like their mom... We are so alike you & I girlfriend... Can't wait to get to California and meet you... Love Ya

December is really busy with birthdays. My Mother's was on the 14th, she would have been 84. Daddy's was on the 19th and he would have been 90. Our grandson was born on Christmas day and will be 10 this coming Thursday.

Did you ever have to drape wet diapers over lampshades and the backs of chrome dinette chairs to dry, when it was raining outside or it was so cold the water in the wet diapers would freeze? Remember Desitin, it went on like paint, but did the job. Remember the smell of baby powder, before they decided it wasn't too healthy for baby to inhale the loose particles flying through the air. All good memories and we survived and the children did too. Congrats to you as you journey toward new memories.
