~~~ SHOW ME THE MONEY~~~~
Ok everyone who knows me from RMS knows my passion is antiques... I thought I would share just a few things with you that take money.(besides my husband)This is a slot machine a Jennings from 1948 that takes dimes, next to it is a Mills slot machine 1947 its a nickle machine, also this is a Wurtizler Jukebox its called a 1015 but most people call it a bubble machine or Happy Days Machine..it still plays 5 songs for a quarter..next to it of course is the RCA Victor dog Nipper.Now this slot machine is a Watling quater machine from 1935 my husband just love this one..and why not he gets to keep the Jack pots...This is called the bird of paradise machine or Rol-A-Top
This is a player roller piano I bought out of a bar...must of had too many drinks at the time because this puppy is heavy to move...it takes a quater for one song...so pour a beer and lets have a sing-a- long.... ca. 1910
This is a music box from Germany and its one of the oldest music boxes I have it from ca. 1840 and it called a Symphbonia Musik Automat and it takes a dime for one song.This shows the inside and you can see the disc it plays...I have about 30 music disc for this..This is a Phongraph from England ca. 1880 it take an english dime to play one record rumor has it that these use to be in theaters lobbies...so I guess who could have Pop corn and music. I call this my BIG HORN as I also have RCA Victor and Edison ones...but this is the BIG ONE!!!
Now I know everyone knows what this is... come on we had them in all the diners at one time..put in a quater and get five Elvis tunes...ca. 1950 Oh NO!! the dreaded scale...but hold eveything you also get your fortune this one takes a nickel and I love it because it weights me so LITE!! GREAT SCALE...bet I could sell this one to alot of people...you think??? ca. 1950. Now the thing hanging above it is an Emergery call box you know the ones that use to hang on a pole?? Well I keep Toilet Paper in it in my Husband bathroom haha!! no more screaming at me when he runs out !!! the bull dog on top is a mustache curler but that another collection yet to show you all...
Hope all of you enjoyed my money making stuff... hey I got to get my decorating fund from some place..
Hope all of you have a blessed and safe day....Thanks for coming by...hugs and smiles Gloria OH and Susan I added music so Stop singing now girl !!!
Thanks for showing us all your money making machines, Gloria. Now I know how you can afford to buy all your antiques.:-)You know they still have those little table top jukeboxes at Mel's Diner at the Universal Studios in Florida.
What an amazing collection you have. Have you ever hit the jackpot, or is it always someone else? I never did locate your sunroom on RMS. I don't think it is there any longer.
Congrats on your awards and thank you for your kind words on Laurie's blog. You may not be from Georgia, but you are definitely a peach.
Gloria you just have the best toys and pretties! I do remember those jukeboxes too. My godparents owned a little dinner that I worked in during one of my highschool summers. I just loved to look at those little guys and flip through their song selection.. Thanks for the memories. Love ya Cindy J.
Hey Girl...I'm fine...just taking a day off every now and then. Probably just going to blog 3-4 days a week so I can spend some time reading all the great blogs out there and getting some stuff done in my home. I love this post...you have the most wonderful and facinating antiques. Heck, you could do a whole post on any one of this amazing pieces you've shared today! Do you ever "play" with any of these. My DH bought me a pachinco game for Christmas when we had only been married a few years 'cause we saw one at a friends home and got the biggest kick out of playing. I still have it in the basement...should drag it out for show and tell sometime. Love ya, Susan
Gloria, I've always thought all of these "money-makers" were just fabulous. And how wonderful to have enough room to display them all. I'd just love to come visit you sometime. I'd start up that jukebox first and then I'd go around just playing all the games. When the jukebox ends, I'd try out the piano, but I'd save the best for last - my favorite -the music box. I just love the sound of those. I've only heard them in museums though. Your collection is museum worthy. I'd leave your house broke, but happy. laurie (bargainhunr)
Good Morning Gloria - Thanks for visiting me last night and the sweet comments about my bench that FINALLY arrived. Yes, I'm a RMS'er, but like you said, it has been sooo slow, that I moved on over to blogging!! I have a link on my blog if you ever want to check out my spaces - you can just click on it and the link will take you right there. Your antiques are so lovely and unique! Like Susan said, you could do a spotlight on just one and have enough to say about it to keep us all enthralled for a while.
I'll be back to visit soon. Oh, BTW, I'm going to try to post some better, not washed out pics of the guest BR tonight - I figured out how to turn the flash off of my camera - I read the manual - DUH!!
Have a good day.
