~Going Green~

Hello guys, Don't you just love adding plants to your home...I know I sure do..Now that the weather is getting cooler here on my mountain top and all my flowers have died out for the year I still wanted to see something growing in my house besides my butt...ha ha!! I found this beautiful Maiden hair fern and just knew it would be so sweet to see each day...

I sat it on the little table in my entry way...If you want to see my entry Please click Here...
I love my French mantle clock it's from ca.1880 all brass and weights a ton...And girl's did I tell you that if you have antique clocks Please don't move them around...It really hurts the insides of them and clock repairs on antique clocks are very costly...Just dust around them and under them...

I love this little half table with the faux marble top...Underneath is an Art Deco photo stand ca. 1920 and photo album from ca.1890

Love this blue/white planter...just added some color here with the fern..

Love the shell moffit here...

The top of the Mirror...everyone knows you have to have a mirror in an entry to smooth your hair and old Red robe before opening the door... And scare the poor man in the brown truck to death...

My plate holder that hangs next to it...Is this not a fun holder with the candle holder attached...

My picture is a tin type from ca. 1880...and next to it is one of my Yard Long Pictures... It's a Pabst brewing company advertisement 1903 if you want to see all my collections of Yard Longs Please click Here...

Now guys if you have not entered my second year of blogging give away Please take the time to do so...I'm offering a $50.00 gift card from Amazon.com and a Pink 135 piece tool kit just for the lady of the house to use...Enter here and Leave me a comment so I can add your name to the hat ...

Plate is RS Germany...all hand painted Oh I just loved the way they use to do things years ago...so much pride in workmanship then...

I am joining in with Marty at " A Stroll Thru life " for Table top Tuesday Please go by and see all the fun tables today...

Thanks for coming by,

Until next time from my mountain to yours,

~Shadows~

Hello Guys, Have you ever taken photos at the same time of the day and upload them and seen Shadows....I wanted to show you my mantle that I redid and 2 photos came out OK and the others are just with shadows...Oh well I never claimed to be Olan Mills...

I love my French mantle clock...This mantle is hard for me to decorate as it sits in a corner...When we first added this Living Room on to the one room cabin we had a wood burning pellet stove here...

I love old leather books and decorating with them don't you...

And my French mirror...I found this 2 years ago in an antique shop in Reno,Nv and knew it had to come home with me...

Candle stick is from Home Goods 2 years ago...

And nothing would be complete without my French Bust...Len got me this one for Christmas 2 years ago...From an antique shop in Amador City...Love her to pieces
I now have 12 Busts since I started this collection in fact I have them in all sizes now...

Now this is Landen James at 1 month old and my Granddaughter Candace, he's the one Shadow I hope will be following me all the time...I'm just crazy about this little guy he now weights 10 lbs gaining a pound a week he definitely likes being breast fed and don't miss too many meals ha ha!!

I never had any boys so I think I'm really going to enjoy having a little guy at my house...I could just eat this sweet thing alive...He's so good and never cries only when he naked...does not like being without clothes ha ha!! He's dressed in his puppy dog costume for Halloween as we did go to Olan Mills yesterday to get his one month old pictures taken...He now at the age where he is cooing and just making noises all the time and smiling without it being gas ha ha!!

Thanks for stopping by and if you have not taken the time to enter my second year of Blogging give away please click here...I'm running this until November 1th and will pick the 2 lucky winners at that time...Thank you also to my new followers, I love having company on my mountain top...

~ A BIG THANK YOU ~

Have I got your attention now ?? Guess what time it is here at "Happy To Be"

Why it's a very" Happy To Be "Second year of blogging for me...Who would of thunk when I hit publish 730 days ago I would meet so many caring and wonderful people here in blog land..

Reflections:
Of 2 years in the neighborhood :

I can now understand the computer more ha ha!! But just when I think I have blogger down pat they change it again and I have to relearn it all over...And dang it's hard to teach this old dog a new trick..

Blog land is a big neighborhood and there is something for everyone likes and dislikes...Kinda like having cable if you don't like that channel just go to another ...

Blog land has a calendar like a retail store every season is early here we are putting out fall decorations while it still 104 degree outside ha ha!!

If we do a linky meme party for Monday we better be there on Sunday or will be late to the party...

Also if you join in a linky party brew a pot of coffee , take a No-Doze pill and pencil in that day as gone as you will be in front of your computer for many hours while you visit all the other party goers ha ha!! I have also learned that my butt has spread from sitting way too long ..

I also have learned it's not about the number of quantity followers you have but the quality of the followers you have...You know the ones that will always come by just to say Hi!!

I have learned this is a very caring and sharing neighborhood..You my neighbors have lifted me up when I'm down have prayed with me and for me, have cried with me and even laughed with me...

I have learned NEVER leave home without my camera and when I get my 3 daughters together I can scare them to death just by getting out my camera...as soon as they see it they shape up because "Oh No she'll have us on her blog" ha ha!!

I have learned that you my neighbors don't care that I wear my old red robe and need to comb my hair and that I need to tweak my upper lip hairs ha ha!! You just let me come each day into your home and accept me as I am...

You my neighbors have shared my joy in the births of my Great Grand babies, Have prayed for my Len with his heart problems and have just taken the time out of your busy day to let me know your there and you care...What a GREAT Neighborhood I have lived in now for 2 years...

I have learned that women all over the world still have the basic need to make a warm and loving home for their family...

I have learned I hate word verification as I think sometimes I have left a comment and moved on and Poof I didn't do the word thingy...And with comment moderations you don't need the word thingy...

I have learned that this neighborhood knows NO age barrier...Your invited winkles and all ha ha!!

I have learned how easy it is to say a kind word to someone you never met or will never meet...Because sometimes maybe a kind word is just the life line that person may need for the day...I know many times your kindness has reached through my monitor and just touched my old heart...

I have learned I LOVE this neighborhood...And I would like to say THANK YOU for letting me be your neighbor...

Now being this is my second year here I would like to give away 2 prizes to my loyal followers..

I have a $50.00 gift card from Amazon.com that will be send to you...

This is my youngest Daughter Dawna she is my pride and joy and she will be having surgery this Wednesday and I will be going to Minden, NV to stay and take care of her...And I will not be blogging while I'm there...Family is always first with me and Blogging is my hobby...I have so little time with my family any more and when I'm on vacation or with them I like to spend all my time with just them, like I have always said "Life is like a roll of toilet paper and the closer it gets to the end the faster it goes"

Dawna was here Saturday night and I got to take a picture of her and her grandson Landen James...Too sweet for words...All 3 0f my daughters are now Grandma them selves...God has really blessed me to see this great new generation in my family...

30 years ago I got cervix and uthera cancer and all I asked God was to Please let me live to see my daughters raised and be with them...

15 years ago I got Ovarian Cancer and again I called on God and asked him to Please let me live to see my Grandchildren raised and God heard me once again...Now I'm getting to see all these great grand babies...How great can life be??
And How Blessed can one women get....

Now I have been working on a few things around my house that I will sharing with you when I get home...

Just one of my newest treasure's I found at the swap meet yesterday...Oh this looks so pretty in my kitchen...

And girls speaking of Kitchens, don't forget that Shelia at "Note Songs" will be having her kitchen party on the 13th of course all of you know in Blog land that really means the night of the twelve ha ha!! I hate missing out of this fun party...So girls get those counter's cleaned and shine the sink and join in..and have some fun...

~Sew Happy To Be~

Finally be done with these curtains for my Master bathrooms...I started these just before Landen James was born...But had to put them aside until I had more time to finish them...A baby changes every thing ha ha!
I got 40 yards of this fabric last year from Second Sunday Swap meet for $20.00...Yes I got it all for .50 a yard...Can't beat that with a stick ha ha!! I have enough to also make new curtains for my bedroom...This is the one in the Barber shop bathroom...
These are the Balloon shades I made for my tub area...I just love all the roses on this fabric...Too fun...I have a real hard time with any kind of curtains in my house as I don't have one curtain rod that is permanent in my house...I really Paid so much to have all the oak trim done around all my windows and don't want to ruin it with nails or screws...So every curtain or drapes I have is on tension rods....

This is an old antique dresser I had a sink put in...I just love it as it looks like a functional piece of furniture and fits my Victorian look...
My Mama made this soap and tissue dispenser for me many years ago...Wished I had my Mama instead sighs...
One of my Victorian mirrors and hair brushes...
My favorite place to spend time is in my spa tub...I have fallen asleep here many nights ha ha!!
The little lamp shade I made year's ago...It's called a small tulip shade...

Now this Singer Light weight sewing machine I learned to sew on when I was 7 years old... I use to make doll clothes on it..My Aunt Jessie got this in 1950 and when she died in 1986 I asked my Uncle if I could have it as I had so many fond memories of using it...I have 2 other sewing machines, but each time I get ready to sew I drag this beauty out...It does nothing fancy but I just to this day love using it...I wish you could hear it hum...Thanks for coming by today and seeing why I'm just Sew Happy To Be...I am joining my Dear friend Courntey at " French Country Cottage" for feather your nest Friday...Oh did I tell you guys I love that girl to death..Please go by and see her wonderful eye candy Blog...
Until Next time from my mountain to yours,
Hugs and Smiles Gl♥ria
