~ PINE CONES ORNAMENTS~

Happy Monday every body...Well you know that old saying about when God gives you lemons you made Lemon aid....Well living on my mountain top with 11 acres I have lots of Pine trees...so God give me lots of Pine Cones....

And of course nothing says Christmas more than Pine cones....

Not only do I stack them in baskets by the fireplace and put them on my mantle....I just love to spray paint them, leave some natural and make Christmas ornaments out of them.....I just shop my house to see what I can use on them....You will need your Glue gun and what ever you like to put on them...Now I'm going to do some Sliver ones with Black glitter for my Grand daughter Candace's tree this year...

One of my Victorian ones....I also like to sit the little birds on Cinnamon sticks, Gives off a wonderful smell...

I love Cardinals they just also say Christmas to me...I also love to sit the little birds on moss to look like little nests....

This is one I painted white with Cardinal bird....I love to buy flower picks from the Dollar Tree store and use just little pieces from them....All the ribbon also I get from the Dollar Tree....

This one I had some old garland and just cut off some pieces and struck them in ....

Another Victorian one with white dove...and pearls....I also will buy old jewelry from yard sales to use for these....I hope I have inspire you to rethink the Pine cone....These make very cute little Christmas gifts to friends or Co-workers...And with are times being so hard right now they cost very little to make....Now if your not lucky enough like me to have pine trees you can buy a bag of cones even At Wal-Mart...

Now Please go by and see our Hostess Susan at "Between Naps on the Porch" I'm sure there awaits you some great met Monday today unlike my nonsense ha ha!!!
May all of you have a great and Blessed day on your side of the Mountain...

Gloria, these are SO cute, and we share a love for cardinals. I love them, too. I have everyday Christmas china that has cardinals on it. Some of it has chickadees, too. But cardinals do say Christmas!

You did a great job on these! Love seing what you've been up to on your mountain.

Hi Sis...

Just read your sweet note and had to come right over...so happy that you like how the fireplace came out...I couldn't hardly wait to see what you thought!!! Hehe!

Now Girl, if these little pinecone ornaments just aren't the cutest the thing that I've ever seen!!! I have seen pinecones used for alot of things but I've never seen prettier ornaments than yours!!! I love how you used the birds and little nests atop the pinecones...and ohhh, all those pretty embellishments!!! They're just gorgeous!!! Okay...now I'm going to have to try and make some of these!!! I have all the pinecones that I want as well...the property next to ours is loaded with pine trees and cones! Ohhh my...I know it would be alot of work but wouldn't it be fabulous to do a whole Christmas tree with just these ornaments? Sis...you're just so creative and talented...sure am glad that you shared this grand idea with us!!!

So Sweetie...what have you been up to this weekend? Have you been making your ornaments? We had the kids here but they left around 3pm because we're under another winter storm warning. It's really been snowing!!! The kid's mother wanted to hurry and get home before the roads got too bad...don't blame her! Anyway...it's been busy here! I did have the kids carry all of my Christmas boxes down from upstairs for me...soooo you know what that means! Hehe! I keep trying to hold off on the Christmas decorating but I can't hardly stand to wait to decorate my new mantel...wink! Well Sis...sure hope that all is well with ya'll! You know I love ya, Darlin'!!!

Chari

Gloria- they are all so pretty!! Great job!

When we went to Mammoth Lakes to visit our son who works there as a ski patrol officer I picked up so many pine cones. We were flying back so couldn't get them on the plane but asked David to bring them with him when he was coming down the next time (I knew he would be coming soon). He arrived with maybe a dozen pinecones- "Where is all my pinecones?" " What are you going to do with all those pine cones- you just need a few so I tossed the rest out!" Makes you want to turn him over you knee!!!!!

Gloria, this is just super! I love your creativeness and boy do I love the cardinal ones! Your are so creative my dear, you could certainly sell these quite easily. Where do you get all that energy? Your like the energizer bunny! I love this and plan on making some myself! Cindy

Gloria answering your question concerning the cloche and using a plate with out a hole, I am sure you could just epoxy the pedestal and plate. I am thinking about spray painting it-white,black, pink,(see how indecisive I am!) actually maybe all at different times and thought being able to take the 2 pieces apart might make it easier.

Your pine cones are beautiful! I remember when I was in California about 28 years ago...I found the biggest pine cones ever. I had them for years by my fireplace. It must have been Nothern California, but I have never seen anything that large since!

These are awesome. I had my grandkids pick some off the ground where they live; they have all kinds of pinecones from their trees. This is a great idea of what can be done with them. So cute!

Hey sis....love those pinecones! I use to go out in the woods and gather all different sizes and use them everywhere! They are so pretty even just tucked in the Christmas trees...even use to gather those little prickly balls from the sweet gum trees and let the kids put toothpicks all over them and spray paint them (times were hard and with 5 kids you gotta use your imagination! lol)

Hope all is weel on your side of the mountain sweet friend..love ya~Picket~
