~HOSPICE FINDS FOR MAY~

Good Morning guys...Hope all of you have had a Great week so far...I though I would show you my Hospice finds for the month of May...Now you Know how I love this thrift Store...I always find some great things and Love the cause of this shop...as all there monies do go back to Hospice for home care patients...There are no paid employee at this shop...all employee are either from our local churches or people doing community service work to pay off traffic fines or DUI's....You don't want to break a law in this small county or you will be working at Hospice, the Department of forestry, the Library,The Food share program, Even as school traffic guard...if you take up courts time in this county you have to pay for it....Boy you have to love small towns...Or as I call it "Life in Mayberry" ha ha!! Up until 8 years ago we didn't have one traffic light in the whole county....The town I live in we still don't have a one or need them yet...My town has a population of 1650 we have a mini mart, Gas station and a Post office...that's the whole town folks...All our mail is delivered to locked mail boxes at the front of each road...No one get home delivery here...Our Mail Lady drives an old Truck her own...not even a mail truck...see what I mean we live in a small town...We do not have a police department only county sheriff office and all fire departments are volunteer fire men and women....I had a squirrel hit an electrical line here 3 years ago caught my back acres on fire...and the first response up here in the fire truck was my Auto mechanic...so not only does he fix my car but saved my property...we lost about 2 acres that day..... Now I go each week to Hospice which is in the Big city of Jackson...this town is 15 miles from me but where I do all my food, banking, etc.... Now this little lamp I got for $2.50 I am redoing my poor sick guest room and bath and think I'll use it in the bathroom....
Another Ironstone soup tureen $4.50
Found this hanging basket and flowers...but I think I am going to paint it white...just hung it up for you to see....$1.50 Loved this sweet tea pot, with the cream and sugar...Brand new $5.50
Nut baskets...25 cents each...thought these would make great salt cellars...what do you think ???
I got 8 of these "LILY" bowls you can see the sticker is still in the bottom of them...$1.00 each....
blue/white candle holders...half off day...so $2.50 for both
Loved these rose salt and peppers shakers also new...$2.50
LILY plates also got 8 of them...$1.00 each...Oh I see a TT coming don't you ha ha!!
Lace table cloth...new still in package...$7.50
Small covered Ironstone tureen....$3.50
2 more Ironstone sugar bowls...both for $5.50This pitcher I think is so cute...you could use it for Summer or Fall...I see flowers in it on my kitchen table don't you???
Now this glass piece I see alot of things I could do with it...Maybe even for Marty's Cloche Party next week....$3.50
Now these fruit plates just screamed my name...50 cents each I got four of them...
Are they not pretty...also see yet another TT maybe...So guys that was my Hospice finds the month of may...I have decided that every month I will do a post and show you the finds I get each month at this GREAT shop...

May all of you have a great day my friends....Thanks for coming by and seeing me...Now for all of you that I still need to get back to...I will I had to go to Reno,Nv this week for Len's Mama's 85 th Birthday... She's my Marie " EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND" MIL ha ha!!!

Now Kyra is having yet another surgery in Dallas Children Hospital as I type this...I think this makes number 13....They really want to get that feeding tube out of her tummy as she is also trying to crawl now...And also every chance she gets she is pulling at it now....You know babies.....

Gloria,

I am in awe of all the wonderful things you got at the hospice!!! Everything is pretty and you have great ideas for every bit of it. The tea set is so pretty, the tablecloth looks great where you have it, the little baskets~I think they were used as nut bowls back in the 50's and 60's at cocktail parties. Oh my. I'd love to take a trip down there and go with you some time. Would they allow a Yankee in?? I wanted to mention, you might want to show off your goodies on Thriftin' Thursday. You could make a lot of gals drool alot!! LOL!! ;-) Leigh from Bloggeritaville hosts this.

I loved hearing about your small town. That is a lot like our town in Michigan where our lake is. We have to go to the surrounding towns for EVERYTHING!! But the people in town are so nice. I wanted to mention also (and please don't think I am pushing anything on you) Melissa from Huckleberry Prarie is hosting a Best Town In America event July 1st. You can sign up and show off your town!! Pictures, stories, whatever. I think it is great to do this before the 4th of July and it will be so cool to see where all of you blogging ladies live!! Anyway~if you are interested, you can click on their blogs that are on my sidebar.

You have a wonderful weekend, my Gloria Lady!!

xoxo

Good grief, Gloria! For a small town thrift store you sure hit pay dirt with all of those goodies! I don't think I've come home with that much stuff on all of my thrifting trips combined.

Extra thoughts and prayers going out for Kyra and family.

What terrific treasures you found!!
I love all of it!! especially the darling lamp, the ironstone, that great glass vase thingamajig, I think that it would work great for the cloche party too! That cute little pitcher with the fruit on it was a great deal for only a dollar!! hey I'll give ya 3.00 for it lol! It's soo cute!

I loved the story about your small town! Sounds like a great place. I love that people have to do community service in lieu of fines, great idea!
I think I'm ready for some small town livin! Mine USED to be like that! But the population has exploded in the last few years! I'm sick and tired of the constant sound of sirens all the time, among other things!
I think it's wonderful that the thrift store donates it's proceeds to the hospice. I need to make a trip to Jackson and check out this great thrift store sometime!!

Great post Gloria! Thanks!
Sherri:)

Wow, I love our Hospice Thrift Store. They have the neatest things. Everything is just so pretty and the prices are fabulous. I realllllllly love those Lily plates and bowls. Now they are extra special. Your glass container has such a beautiful shape. I can't wait to see what you do with it. It would be perfect to decorate for the Cloche Party. You are so good at that sort of thing, I just know you will do something spectacular. Hope you have a super weekend. Kyra is always in my prayers. I so often think about her darling Giggle video. Much love friend. Hugs, Marty

Hi Gloria,
My girl, you hit the jackpot! Wait, you already have some of those slot machines, or is that hubby? Anyhoo, I am in awe of this post! Every single solitary thing you got is beautiful and a fabulous buy. Now, if you're house is every getting too crowded, I'm sure I could take a few things off your hands. LOL. (just kidding) kind of. We live in a small town too, although not that small but the whole area is pretty rural. Have a lovely week-end, hugs, Cindy

Gloria,
Who needs a big city when you have shopping this wonderful right in your back yard! I am definitely more of a country mouse then a city mouse. Small towns can be so endearing and filled with charm. Your sweet little Kyra has been through so much it just doesn’t seem fair. She is in my thoughts and prayers. Have a safe journey to the birthday party. ~Cathy~

Gloria, You are so much fun to know.

Everything you show us from the Hospice store is pure treasure! I also love hearing about your little town and how it feels to live there. I grew up in a very small town in IL close to St. Louis and I miss that small town feeling. I wouldn't mind driving 15 miles at all to bank, etc.....

Gloria, I would love to have a store like that nearby, but I'm afraid it would always be empty, because between you and I shopping, they would sell out quickly! Such fabulous treasures, and such fabulous prices! I see lots of wonderful tablescapes coming out of this one shopping trip. That fringe on that tablecloth is absolutely wonderful! All of your treasures are so wonderful! laurie

To answer your question, yes, that's my only daughter, my baby.
Oh, I wanted to tell you, my hubby found an old stamp machine, probably not that old, but he had to have it. It gave stamped envelopes with 22 cent stamps on them or two postcards with 14 cent stamps on them! I thought of your hubby and the slot machines! Men, we gotta love 'em!
I'm loving your big pictures - they look fantastic!
Be a sweetie,
