~ TRASH TUESDAY ~

I thought this sounded like a fun thing for Tuesday to do...as I have lots of Trash that I have turned into " my treasures" but I think we all have done that Right?? Please go pay our Hostess Diane at visit at http://diane1876.blogspot.com/ A picture is worth a 1,000 words to see more great Trash -n- treasures today..

Now these sweet little chairs I got 2 of last June...a friend of mine that has an antique shop had these in his back room..they are from England ca. 1840 and they are Nursing chairs for mama and her baby...that is why they are so low and arched the way they are...and the best part of these sweet chairs...is my friend said "Gloria you like those?? and of course I said Yes and he told me to just take him....YAHOO!! he was going to toss them out...well girls I could't load them up fast enough...Now they had some stains on them..so with a bottle of Rit dye and some old rags I took the outside and dyed them..

As you can see I dyed them a Tan color and the little foot stole I got out yard sailing and recovered it with just some old fabric I had and glued on some trim.. this one I put in my living room...

Now here the second chair in my bedroom...at the end of my bed...not back for a $2.97 bottle of Rit dye wouldn't you say...when and if my Granddaughter Candace ever has a baby I want to get one of them recovered for the nursery for her...Hoped you enjoyed my Trash chairs..
May all of you have a safe and blessed day.
UPDATE: On Baby Kyra...she was taken off of life support last night and even had a bottle and my Grandson got to hold her for the first time since she was 6 hours old..mama and Daddy are doing great and so is Kyra..my daughter Gina (grandma) went to Texas today to be with the happy family...God sure did hear all your prayers...thank you all from the bottom of my heart and Kyra's..
Hugs and smiles Gloria

So glad to hear Baby Kyra is doing well!

WHat a wonderful idea do just rag the dye on the fabric of this chair! I had never thought of doing that!! Beautiful chair and it just is perfect at the end of the bed in that gorgeous room of yours!!

Got to do a little after Christmas shopping as we went to the big city and was surprised Hobby Lobby still had a rather nice selection! I used my Christmas money to buy mercury bulbs and candlesticks and sweet little glasses! I think I could keep the bulbs out all year-

Gloria, I'm so glad to hear that Kyra is doing much better. I know your grandson's heart starting singing the minute he got to hold her.I know Gina can't wait to get there..yes Prayers are answered. You did not use rit dye on these chairs and they turned out like this. Girl these are just gorgeous.. Never would have thought rit dye could do such marvelous things..

I am so happy to hear about Kyra--she's taking a bottle!! That's such good news. I've been worried.

Those chairs are fabulous. After you described them as a mother/child chair, I saw how they were gently curved. I learn so many wonderful things from you!!!

Oh Gloria, I'm so glad she's doing better! I know it won't be long before you get to hold her either! You know you don't look old enough to be a great grandma! Loved your bargains! Even more cool is that I've never heard of a chair for that purpose, so I've learned something I hope to be able to remember when I go TIQUIN! LOL!

Hello Gloria,

I found your blog from your comment at Mo's Cottage. I love your decorating style. I am so happy to hear the wonderful news on your great granddaughter. She was in my prayers. Love the chairs and I enjoyed seeing the pictures of your home. Very pretty! I love antiques also.
Have a wonderful day!

Wow, those chairs are so neat looking! I can't imagine trying to get UP from one, but look so comfy to sit on with a baby!
Now girl, I have to comment on your bed. Holy headboard!!!!!!!!!!!! Where did you get that, and how old is it? It's incredible!!!!!!!!! And holy cow but you've got a lot of stuff. You're lucky your hubby can put up with all that girly stuff you have surrounding him. LOL

Can I be mean for a second? Ditch the fake fern on that beautiful planter stand. It's just way too pretty for fake stuff!

Tiney :o )

Love what you did with the chairs. You are too smart by half.

My greatest pleasure however, was in reading your UPDATE postscript. I am rejoicing that God's answer was YES to the many, many prayers on Kyra's and your family's behalf. I have two GC that spent about six weeks each in neonatal intensive care. It tears at your heart to see all the tubes running from such a tiny body.
Be comforted that sweet Kyra is being carried along on an ocean of prayers.

Gloria-the latest report on baby Kyra is such news, indeed! What a nice connection today with your "mother and child" chairs. I love your Trash to Treasure story. On RMS I once read about someone who tea-dyed her sofa, but I wondered about the eventual decay of the fabric from the vegetable matter. I'm sure rit dye is better. Question: Did you add vinegar or salt to your dye mix? And did you dilute the dye from the bottle? Blessings, Pam

That's the greatest news I've heard all day! Your grandson and his wife must be in heaven right now just being able to hold that little darlin'! I'll keep praying that she continues to improve. Now about those nursing chairs.....I've never heard of them but they look so comfortable and you just can't beat that price! Great job with the dye. I wouldn't have thought of that!

Yes, you did see the 66 red corvette; I couldn't find one of the photos to post during the restoration and soon I will post it. I don't usually show much about my husband or his hobbies, but I felt I would do it one time.
Look for the posting soon. My son-in-law will be comming to get it to paint it red once again after 43 years. Thank you, Mother's medicine has been changed and seems to be better for her. I am taking it a day at a time right now. Just got off the phone with my sister who has been with her for the last couple of weeks.
