♥♥ I WAS A LUCKY ONE !!! Were You ♥♥

THOSE BORN 1920-1979

READ TO THE BOTTOM FOR QUOTE OF THE MONTH BY JAY LENO. IF YOU DON'T READ ANYTHING ELSE---VERY WELL STATED

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat..

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because,

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were OK.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms.......

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had try outs and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good .

While you are at it, show it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:

'With hurricanes, tornado's, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

Hey!! guys hope all of you have a safe a blessed week end...as for me Its Len's Birthday so I need to take out the Swifter duster dust off some of these cobwebs from sitting here at this dang computer and show him I can still made a pretty darn good carrot cake...Take me a long bath, do my hair, put a bow on my head, put on my make up, put perfume in all the right places, wrap myself up with just saran wrap on...so Len can say "What left over again "

I will see all of you on Sunday as its Super Bowl day...And the only moving parts Len has on that day is his mouth and bowels... So I am free to Roam alone...YAHOO!!!

~WHATS ON MY WALL~

Hey girls !!! we have a brand new thing to do on Wednesday its "called whats on your walls" this is hostess by Barb at Grits and Glamour http://gritsglamour.blogspot.com/ Please go pay her a visit and see all the great ladies today with all the great wall eye candy for you... Now every one knows my love of Second Sunday Swap meet where they have over 300 vendor's and many have asked me what I got 2 weeks ago when I went...well here it is my new shelf..I love all things that are wood craved and when I walked by this just SCREAMED Gloria to me so It had to come home with me...Len just got it hung today for me in the Living room it lived in our garage for 2 weeks...now I did have to bribe him with a Scampi dinner to get him to hang it...oh girls the things I do for antiques....the little gold bust I also got that day and the white bust I won on EBay 3 weeks ago...I just love this shelf because it has a plate groove on it so I could add some of my R.S. Prussia plates... This I hung above my antique wood craved sofa... Please feel free to click on any picture to enlarge them...but remember the Dust rule...I don't want to hear about my dust...after all its antique dust... ( sounds good to me ).

Now here is my French Mirror I got last year in an antique shop in Reno, NV and the sweet little girl picture I got also last year when once of our local shops was going out of business and I love the way she is reflected in the mirror...this is a corner fireplace so very hard to decorator...and here is also my new Bust Len got me for Christmas...I have moved this bust all over this house trying to fine a spot for her..I call it have bust will travel...

Another French shelf also Second Sunday find...just loved the colors on this piece and love how my R.S. Prussia plate with my piano babies look with it...

I found this picture my first trip to Second Sunday...also very French and antique.. again it was the colors I loved on it...

Also got this mirror and wall table to put in my entry way...loved plate holder also from Second Sunday and again it SCREAMED my name as I had never seen one with candle holders on it...

Here is a close up look at it and of course hanging next to it is another one of my Yard longs...this one is called" Courting" and from ca. 1910....

Now you can really see just how pretty this plate holder is....and just another R.S. Prussia plate..those pictures you see there are tins ones..

These are old bridge supports...when I found them they were really rusty...I had them sand blasted and then powder coated and I have these hanging on each side of my door way going into my Living room... this is the right one..

And here is the left one...these are all iron and very heavy...I had these in the barn for Years and Len just got them hung for me last year after we painted the Living room... Please go by and see Susan to see more great spaces today..http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ Susan is the one who does all those BEAUTIFUL Tablescapes on Tuesday...

Now this is my Sun room...we just added this on to the house in 2005 and never did any thing with the cement flooring...we were at Lowe's one day trying to find tile for it...but told the sale man I didn't want anything thing that when wet we would slip on...as this room is attached to my kitchen door and we go out and in it every day..we have one of those homes that no one ever goes to our front door.. You know the old back door guest are the best ??? any way we got this paint that is for garage floors...First Len had to use an acid bath and scrub it...wait for 48 hours to make sure it was dry...and the paint went on then ...

Here is Len rolling on the paint and of course he is also fogging the air with his mouth...which he does every time he into a project...Oh!! my sweet little ears and what I have to listen to when he gets into a project...sounds just like the dad in the movie "the Christmas Story" fixing the furnace lol !! This floor is so great as I can just mop it and nothing stains it..and girls Len did a wonderful job on it...see where he taped off the glass even.. he did that because he didn't want to hear me fog the air ha ha!!

Now girl I love my Sun room...and the reason we painted the floor Ocean Blue is because I live in the mountains but do love the Ocean..so I tried to give this room a Nautical look and also I had so many Nautical stuff in my barn that I needed to find a home for... So Girls " WELCOME ABOARD " my mountain top...

This is whats called a Four Season Sun room all glass ceiling and walls...and its so great to sit out here and watch the deer come out and eat...we have at least 6 bird feeders here and 3 Peanut boxes to feed the squirrels... I love doing dinners out here during the summer months

Just look at that sky is it not pretty ?? and you can see all the cedar and pines trees we have here..and that is a blue light in the ceiling fan which also has clear blades on it...

See how pretty that blue floor looks ??? and by the chair there is my Lemon tree...which I love when it comes into bloom or the sweet smell is wonderful in this room then...

Now this is from a ship it a 1910 Anunciator from an engine room ...and those things at the bottom are ships Cleats... The Ball hanging above it is a "fish Ball" that my Aunt and Uncle gave me years ago...these were use to float fish nets with...they bought this back from Guam to me...

Now here is a Fish net and an old Oar that I found at my Second Sunday swap meet last year and the straw hat was my Dad's Fishing hat from their home in Cabo, Mexico and just some shells I have hanging...I made S hooks so I could hang things down in here as it has no walls.. and Girls I can't stand to have any thing naked...

Now here is an Old port hole that I also have shells in and that Picture above is the "Hole in the Rock" in Cabo...My mama had a gal painted that from a picture she took one day when we were out on a glass bottom boat...and the little Picture is of their home they had in Cabo...

Now!! this is my Newest Oldest thing in here...its a driving helmet from 1941 USS Navy its all brass and cooper...Len got this for me for Christmas... Is this not the coolest thing?? it sit on top of our soda frig... Told you girls I like weird things...Maybe that why I love Len....So there you have seen my Mountain, Ocean Sun room...Thanks for visiting Sure hope all the ocean spray didn't ruin your hair do and that the pine tree sap comes off your shoes...

Excerpts from a Cat's Daily Diary. ..

Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards. There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now................

Is this not the Truth !!!

Hope all of you have a great day...will see you all for PINK Saturday
