Hello my Dear friends...I'm so excited to be able to join in today with Marty's 100 Table top Party..Marty has to be one of the sweetest gals in all of blog land..I have known her since before she even started blogging at that time she would come by every day and leave me a comment just to say Hi!! she was Marty39 then..Then she started her blog " A stroll thru Life" Please take the time to go by and tell her congrats and thank her for all the hard work she puts in each week for us to show off our table tops..

This is one of my favorite antique I have in my entry way..It's a Baptismal font from Italy that I found about 3 years ago in an antique shop..It was love at first sight for me

I added a round glass top to it so I could use it as a table/ pedestal stand with it..I also think it says "Bless all who enter here" ha ha!! This is my largest bust in my collection and I added a feather halo to her head..get it!! Holy Moly and halo ha ha!!

The details on this fonts are just beautiful..It's so heavy because it's cement

This bust sits on a wooden pedestal next to my Living room fireplace and of course I had to add a garland to her head

This is another bust I have in my living room also on a pedestal and I added the birds nest and a crown on her head even put a skeleton key on her finger..if there a bust in this house I'm going to bling it out ha ha!!

Hello guys, Thought I would give you a peek at my Outhouse bathroom that we have been working on for ever...

Remember I told you this was just a small bath right off my olden kitchen...Sorry about the poor lighting but no windrow and bad camera make for bad photos ha ha!!

See me in the mirror with my pj's on ha ha!! seems to be my outfit of choice since I'm still in recovery since my heart surgery..

I'm loving the new vessel sink here..the sink use to be right next to the toilet but since we had to tear out all the wall and ceiling in here due to termites..we moved the plumbing to put the sink on the other wall

Shower is now done..But still have not used it..we did it in marble tiles and moved it also to another wall

Now the mirror is an old vanity mirror I had from my home 40 years ago..I just acid etched it to give it a differ look and hung it long ways

I don't know if Len will ever get this room done..I told him all I wanted for Christmas was this bathroom done but didn't mention to tell him what Christmas ha ha!! We still have crown molding, baseboards and the chandy's to go up...Len keeps telling me he's retire..and you know what I figured out retirement is only for men..As I still clean house, cook, clean and scrub toilets and I also am suppose to be retired...still trying to figure out what I retired from ha ha!!
Love all you guys..THANK YOU all so much for sticking with me this past few months..And for those that have left my follower list..Too bad for you as I talked to Angelina Jolie and she was going to let me do a Brad Pitt give away lol!!

I think each one of us have "Reflections" of what our year was all about and what we want to see in the New Year..

As I traveled about Blogland this past few days I have seen all of you showing all the beautiful and great projects you did in 2011..I ran to my picture file and guess what?? I didn't do one project and complete it in 2011..I lost a whole year of doing nothing but trying to breath and get healthy..During this time I have thought about putting this blog to rest also...But this silly little blog of mine is truly a piece of my heart.I love seeing all my friends and reading all your posts...I love all of you guys, Thanks for being you, Thanks for taking the time out of your busy year and just "popping" in to say Hi!! how you doing Gloria!! Thanks for all your prayers, Thank you God for letting me have another year for a do-overs..As I lift my coffee cup to you I wish you all the very best in 2012...and may you all be just "Happy To Be"

Just thought I would share a Re-post from last year with you..Thanks for coming by as I know how very busy all of you are this time of year..

Hey a'll , Bubba and me have had a Great 2010.....Bubba finally is getting a few thangs done around the house...Got me a brand smashing new door bell...And just in time for our family gathering

I got the tree up and all lit..Bubba got laid off from the Gin Mill again this year...said he was drinking up the profits...

I have been trying to make me some Purdy things for our house...make some Advent calendar's to give to family and friends...Bubba found me some wreaths forms...

and some coat hangers trees...

Bubba got me a new dishwasher as our last one died...It came just in time as I was getting so tired of hand washing my best china....

Bubba got a new buck this year biggest one so far...Ain't it a beauty...

We spent one whole hour getting the yard done for Christmas...Bubba said we need to cut back next year

Things are lookin purdy in the "Trailerhood " this year....

Bubba Jr. done got himself married and graduated from the fifth grade all this in one month...We is so proud of him and his first cousin Susie Lou for tie-in the knot...

Bubba the 3th was his best man....We was so glad he was born on time....To attend his Mama and Daddy's wedding day....I made them a special cake....

Grandpa has been doing great this year and was up to attending the wedding...He has lost some weight since losing his teeth...still says our dog ate them...

Bubba and I did get our Christmas cards done....I think Bubba get better looking each year....Well friends and family as you can tell we had another great year...

HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLDER, AND DON'T MOVE FAST ANYMORE

George Phillips, an elderly man, from Meridian, Mississippi, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?"

He said "No," but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me.

Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available" George said,

"Okay."

He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again.

"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both, the dogs are eating them right now." and he hung up.

Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Helicopter, two Fire Trucks, a Paramedic, and an Ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence, and caught the burglars red-handed.

One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!"

George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"

Hello Guy's did you think I got losted?? I just love seeing all the beautiful and fun things all of you have been up to in your homes for the Christmas season..As for me I'm not putting out my stuff this year due to my health issues..I do hope to at least get a small tree on my Victorian musical stand on top of my kitchen table for Landon to enjoy..

The Bathroom is still not done..Many problems..Len and the contractor ran into termites in the studs and ceiling studs so everyone had to come out and all new ones put in..which put us a week behind..I did want to show you the Chandy I got to go above vessel sink..it's sitting on my living room floor just waiting..

This is the french crown chandy I got this year from France and it will hang by the new shower...

And here is what the new shower looks as of today..Still need the faucets put in and the grab bar..I love the arch that Len made above it and the marble tile is so pretty..

we still have baseboards and crown molding to go in and the tin ceiling...

Tomorrow we hope to get the toilet in and I got a killer cherry vanity with a vessel sink and a faucet that looks like an old hand pump..as you can see this is a very small room..it's our bathroom off of our kitchen that company use...I'm so sick of all this sheet rock mess we have had here ha ha!! I have not seen my kitchen floor in a month as Len has it covered with brown paper...We hope to be done within the week on this project..Told Len last night the only thing I want to hear is "Gloria get your soap and towel" as I type this grout is still drying on the floor..

How ever I do have help with the clean up ha ha!!

And what's so great about the hired help is he'll work for food !!

even my stove edge becomes a food tray for him..

Cleaning out my dish towel drawer for his Gigi ha ha!!

Oh now before I forget again..The winner of the 135 piece PINK tool set is Debbie at " Love The Decor".

I want to thank all of you that came by to enter and make my third anniversary so special for me..I also know after thinking long and hard about this wonderful world of blogging..That I can no longer keep it up and am going to take the rest of the year off to try and mend my body..I also found out 3 weeks ago I have a tumor between my skull and brain which is causing pressure on my head and making me dizzy..in fact that's why I went to the Doctor back in August and he had me take a brain scan and MRI and then send me to the heart doctor and you all know how that came out...I told Len no Doctor is getting near me again with a sharp object..unless it's a diamond lapel pin ha ha!! and even then it better be a 10 carat one..

I will miss all of you..You all have become such a special part of my life..Thank you, May you have a Blessed CHRISTmas..

~What's Up ? ~

Hello!! all my Dear blog bud's...I first want to thank all of you wonderful peeps for all your prayers, cards and emails you have send me!! WOW I was overwhelmed that people I have never met could mean so much to me...I wished I could say this past month has been an easy one for me..but let's face it having a triple by-pass is like having an 18 wheeler truck parked on your chest ..But once again God was great to me !! And what a shocker that was to me..to just go to the hospital for an Angiogram test and be told it would take about an hour and I would have to spend the night and go home in the morning, well I had a cardiac arrest during the test, and they the doctor put me on a heart lung machine while they got together a team and by 9 pm until 2 am I under went open heart surgery..See what I mean God truly blessed me with being in the right place at the right time..Thank you God..

I really don't remember much for around 2 days from that point on...When I did awake I was in terrible pain and here comes the nurse with a needle and I thought WOW!! it much be the good stuff "it's in a needle" ha ha!!

Any hoo lots has been going on since that time..I did want to share my little pride and joy Landen James my great grandson's picture from Halloween with you..He was "Fonzie" from Happy days he even had a pack of blackjack chewing gum in his leather jacket ha ha!!

My other pride and joy is my Grand daughter Candace (Landen's mama) I really don't know what I would have done without all her wonderful help this past month..she is truly a sweetheart..she was at Disneyland when all this happen and of course wanted to come right home...My Daughter Gina and Dawna also came and helped me..Thank's girls your mama loves you to pieces..Who would of thought that I would change their diapers and one day they would be changing mine ha ha!! Hey Great pay back!!

And of course I have to Thank Lenny for running and getting pizza's because he doesn't know what a kitchen is ha ha!! I did teach him to finally use the washer and dryer..but his folding left alot to be desired...He even tried to make the bed..how ever it did look like a body was still in it when he got done ha ha!! But he really has been my rock through out this whole ordeal..

Do you guy's remember me telling you I have an "outhouse Bathroom" in my house?? well the darn shower pan cracked also last month so what does every woman do when it spring's a BIG leak..?? This is my in house outhouse door with all my olden door knockers on it..

Why they tear the whole bathroom out and start remodeling it ha ha!! I have wanted for over 10 years to redo this bathroom so now is the perfect time for it...Why you ask is this the perfect time?? I can't do a thing to help ( perfect ) ha ha!! I can't even sweep the floor until 4 months from surgery love it ha ha!! We ordered everything from Lowe's from new marble tile floor to sink, toilet and a travetine shower...Len and the contractor hope to have it all done by the first of December...I have 2 french chandy's I'm going to hang in here..one I got from my dearest friend Vanna aka *winks* at delusions of grandeur she by far has the best french things you have ever seen and was so kind to sell me one of her prized chandys like 6 months ago that has been sitting on my bedroom floor just waiting for the perfect place to hang it...Also this is my 400 post and October 18th was my third Blogovery...I know I'm late but I still want to offer all my loyal followers a chance to win a Apollo 135 piece Pink tool kit...If you would like a chance to win this please leave me a comment!!

Hello all,
I would just like to let you know my mother was released from the Hospital.She is at home resting and let me tell you she is one of the strongest women I know and I am so very proud to have her as my mother.I love my mom as she is my best friend and that was quite the scare, for those of you out there for one reason or another that have loved ones that you have not kept in touch with do so as forgiveness is a blessing in itself.She is very weak and in time will get her energy back shes a fiesty redhead what else can I say anyways,

I just got back from the hospital and let me tell you my mother is one of the strongest women I have come across.She is off the oxygen and more than likely will be coming home on Wednesday.I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts.I know her very close friends in blogland have her address and she would love to hear from you as far as sending a card or something.My mom is probably one of the most giving people and never asks for anything in return well now as her daughter I think its time she is shown how much people love and care about her,

Hi all,I just got back from the hospital and mom is doing so much better.She is out of ICU and in her own room yeah!!!!!! My mom is such a strong lady and she is my hero what a few days she has been through and she just hangs in their like such a trooper,I was able to talk to her and she even ate a little bit of pudding and a few bites of dinner.If anyone would like to send flowers she is in room 492 at Sutter General hospital in Sacramento.She will probably be home with hope by Monday she is well aware of everyone that has prayed and sends there well wishes as I let her know.I would give her about a month to respond to any e-mails or post that you might send.Until then keep her in your thoughts and prayers,All my regards Dawna

Update on mom,Hi I would all like you to know that my mom is in stable condition.They were able to take the breathing tube out and she is purely on just oxygen.She was able to sit in the chair for about an hour.I also was able to comb her hair and get her to feeling a little better about herself.With any luck she will be able to get out of ICU tomorrow and as soon as I have a room number for those that are interested in sending flowers I will let you know.I was able to talk to her and carry on a conversation with her shes a pretty tuff cookie we all know how those redheads are lol anyways please continue thoughts and prayers for my mother .

Hello guys, I thought I would show you my hat gift boxes...These are the cutest little hats..Everyone that see them thinks they are for dolls,

She paid for the gift certificate, and went home with a darling little hat in a darling little hatbox, and wrapped it up for Father's Day...or Christmas/Hanukah/Kwanza...or his Birthday. I'm still going through tests to find out what's wrong with me..I will find out this Wednesday from my heart Doctor the results of all the tests I had last week...They ( doctors) still think I'm having TIA's which are mini strokes and hope to find the cause of them before I have a big stroke...
Landen's fist birthday is this Saturday and I have been trying to help my Grand daughter get things ready for his Party at the park..It's a Mickey Mouse theme party..We have made each and every decoration for it...He loves to hang out in front of my mirrored closet doors and see himself dance ha ha!!
My grandson Jayson got married on the 10th and it was a beautiful garden wedding at a 1865 hotel just a fun night for all..

Hello!! Guys, Well here we are the last day of the month...Boy this month has gone by fast for me...I couldn't let this day past without remembering The People's Princess Diane...I still have a hard time believing Diane has been dead now 14 years today...

To say I admired this woman and what she tried to do is an understatement...I watched this sweet young thing at age 20 on July 29,1981 Marry her Prince Charming...I had to stay up all night to watch this ceremony...We had VCR's at that time but had just came out on the market and were like $1000.00 to have a home one...well just a wee bit out of my budget at that time..You see I just knew that young Princess was going to make a differ in the world...And she did not disappoint me...

I Love all things Diane....here is just a few things from my collection over the years that I wanted to share with you today...

You see I have a very strong admiration for any one that will take their money and fame to try and help those less fortunate...This sweet young Princess didn't care if you had aids or was disfigured she would reach out and touch not just you but your heart...She could have choose to walk around with just a Royal wave and an empty purse hanging from her arm...But she choose to walk around with a BIG Hug and a Huge Heart and touched all she met...Like Elton John said she Lived her life like a "Candle in the wind"....Gone but not forgotten...She will always be a Flame in my heart...Princess Diane 1961-1997.

~We don't need no stinkin toys~

Hello !!

Bet you thought I got lost..no such luck lol!! I have been spending alot of time with Landen..he loves to come to my house because I don't have toys ha ha!! Oh no Gigi's got great stuff to play with...I don't need NO stinking toys at her house... I can play for hours without them.

We have vintage picnic baskets to sit in...

We have yogurt and learn to even use a spoon.

And we can make the BIGGEST mess in the world and Gigi don't care...

She just puts me in her blue sink and it all comes out in the wash

Landen will be one year old on Sept 17th

mean while Gigi is trying to clean out her hallway hutch and put all her white things in it...

So many things have been going on around here...some of you already know that I had a few mini strokes and I have been going through a ton of test (MRI, brain cat scan etc.) now to see what is causing these...I still have to have a stress test and a wear a 30 day heart monitor which I will have put on this Wednesday..WOW!! had I known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself lol!!
All kidding aside I have been trying to spend as much time with my love ones..Be good to one another as life as you know it can change in a heart beat...
I love all of you and really have missed blogging the way I use to...But I'm so trying to make good memories for my grand babies..

~ The Candy Man Can~

Hello girls, Well I done did it...I got my new (old) cabinet....This cabinet is from 1895 and it's was a hardware cabinet at one time it would have had bolts and nuts in it...but not any more ha ha!! I bought it home on Friday and it became a Candy cabinet...Oh won't the little ones go nuts over this... (Pun intended)

Just look at how colorful it is with the candy in it...Can you love an old hardware cabinet Shelia...well you bet your bolts you can....( I bet you though I was going to say nuts) ha ha!!

I added one of my gum ball machine's to the top...

My Cracker Jack box....These boxes did hold loose "Cracker Jacks" many years ago these boxes would be in a rack and have an scoop...and you would just scoop out what you wanted from them...kinda like penny candy containers...

Look at the fancy handles on this cabinet...This cabinet came from Warren Hardware company..

The inside of the drawers...now you can see that the glass fronts are only so deep...You would fill the glass front and pull the drawer open to scoop out what you seen in the glass fronts...

Love the quarter saw oak of this piece...

I love the way it looks with my old Bin counter that I use as an Island in my kitchen...This bin counter is an 18 drawer one so it creates extra storage for me...plus gives me allot of working space in my kitchen...This counter is 8 foot long

One end with a few old crocks and feed sacks...Oh yes it's all about the old general store look in my kitchen...I have always loved this look...Maybe because it reminds me of a simpler time in our hectic world as we know it now and when I'm at home I want my home and life to reflect that time.... That and I'm spending my Kids inheritance ha ha!!

An old grain scoop turned magazine holder...

Some of my Planters peanuts containers....This cabinet I had added in 1996...As I had ran out of room in my kitchen so I had the carpenter add this right between the studs...Hey where their a will their a way ha ha!! I have to tell you a funny story about this...I have a neighbor that every time we were adding on to this 1 room cabin would come right up here to see what we were doing now...Well at the same time we were adding this cupboard between the studs we were also putting in a new toilet in the outhouse bathroom...so we sat the new toilet inside this cabinet and when Jim came up here to see what's new ....I told him we were putting a toilet closer in the kitchen for me ha ha!! He left just shaking his head ha ha!! I can still see the look on his face...it was PRICELESS...He always tells me " Your Mama done dropped you on your head girl" If you would like to see my 1 room cabin click here.... Hey guys, this past month I have had pneumonia and that is why you have not seen me around blog land I have been forced to stay in bed or on the couch resting...I got caught up in the Casey Anthony trail and have watched it each day...I also know I'm not alone in my believes that Casey Anthony is as GUILTY as sin...How after watching this trail for 6 weeks and all the evidence's presented from both the defense and prosecutors could not one juror find her GUILTY ???

This child was murdered she did not at the age of 2 years and 10 months place duck tape on her own face climb into a laundry bag and toss herself into the woods...Next thing I know they will be telling us that Caylee committed suicide.... I'm livid for this child that no justice was done for her...

I also hope that Casey Anthony has the most miserable rotten life than any one human can have on earth...You have killed the most precious gift that God ever could give to you, Casey you have taken your loving family and tossed them under a bus every chance you got ...

Our justice system gave Casey a slap on the hand and a Hershey bar and send her on her way to do more harm!!

My heart is just breaking for this sweet Caylee..I would love to hear your thoughts on the out come of this MURDER trail...Is it just me that feels that there was NO JUSTICE FOR CAYLEE???

I want to Thank all of you wonderful peeps for the emails,comments and most important your prayers for Len..Len is doing so much better now I have him on a better eating program trying to keep his blood sugar where it should be..I have missed the wonderful world of blogging..but have decided after being gone for over a month that I really did need the break and time to take care of my family and life...Blogging was the first thing I did in the morning with my coffee and the last thing I was doing before bed..way too much time spend in blogland ...This past month I have finally caught up on all my magazines I have had stacked up and not even opened since January...I got all four bathrooms cleaned to where I won't be ashamed to let peeps use them ha ha!! I love all my true followers and I see I have lost a few..But that's OK I never was a number person..Quality is always more important that Quantity to me So for those than hung in there with me a BIG Thanks..

Well we not have had 7 months of snow up here..This was taken on May 16th...Enough of the white stuff already lol!!

I also have so been enjoining my little great grandson Landen James 8 months now taking baths in my kitchen sinks...he just loves this and so reminds me of his Mama my grand daughter Candace when she was little and lived with me and also loved the sink ha ha!! He now sits, stands, and crawls backwards and has 2 teeth ha ha!!

He is just happy all the time...I call him my little chunky monkey ha ha!!

Remember Kyra..My great granddaughter that had 2 heart surgeries before she was 2 months old..She is now 2 1/2 years old and she now has a little sister...Little Sis was born May 19th and is in excellent health...Her name is Kylee Jo and Kyra loves her baby sister...This makes 9 great grand babies for me in less than 5 years WOW!! Just toss them my checkbook come Christmas ha ha!!

I also found me another bust at the Hospice thrift store..Paid $20.00 for it..it's a V. Glinsky ca. 1950-1969 that one is called "Face of Love" It's marble and I found it also on eBay starting bid of $50.00..sure don't know why peeps would give these away..But I love that they do..Vanna aka *winks* do you like her??

Of course we all know about the Royal wedding..But I think it's so funny how Cinderella and her Prince and her step-sisters and Prince Williams and Princess Kate and Prince Andrews daughters all look like the fairy tale..Just too funny to me lol!!

I am so happy that next week I'm going to get to go spend a week with my Dear sister friend Chari at "Happy to Design" for a week we will be going to the "Good Guys" car show in Loveland, Co. Len and I have not seen her and Russ since last year when we did the Vegas Rat Rod car show...

I have been spending lots of time in my spa tub just soaking my cares away..Nothing like a good soak..Doctor put me on Xanax for my panic attacks..Boy I could get use to these sweet pills big time ha ha!! I still have panic attacks just don't seem to care as much ha ha!!

My grandson Jacob just came home on a month leave from Afghanistan on the 20th and is back at Fort Hood in Texas with his family...My daughter Dawna and his sister Candace are going this Saturday to spend a week with them before he has to go back for 6 months...

I just can't thank God enough for keeping him safe...I loved seeing him with his 2 sons and wife...This was taken at the airport the day he came in..does he not look happy to see his little family...Jacob your Grandma loves you and am so proud of the way you have kept our Freedom alive..Thank you and all our service peeps.

I also hate to see Oprah leaving after a quarter of century...I have always loved this woman who has inspired so many...I have watched her show from day one...I always loved her Random acts of kindness..I will miss you my friend..
Well all my Dear friends, I hope to be able to spend more time with you after I get back from Chari's...God Bless you all...

~Just Breathe~

Good morning guys, did you ever wake up one day and all seemed well in your world!! On Monday morning my world was colorful and bright just another day in paradise for me..And then at 12:30 pm I gave Len his lunch in front of the TV so he could watch the news and went back into the kitchen to make some fresh coffee!! Well I went back into the LR to ask him if he wanted a cup..at that point my whole world became black-n-white...

Len was slumped over with the fork still in his hand..I felted for a pulse for a heartbeat nothing..I screamed at him..nothing!! You see Len is a diabetic and has been insulin dependant for over 30 years..I have gone through many of bouts with the sugar being too high or too low..as a rule when he gets too low I can bring him around with orange juice..I ended up calling 911 and told them my husband had just died...Things happen pretty fast after that..The first 2 respondents came and then I had a LR full of fireman, EM T's..and then my grandson was standing here just trying to care for me!! As I went into a full blown panic attack..I was having a hard time answering questions. how old Len was, what meds he was taking, about his heart problems, etc. why is it when your world is upside down you just pray so hard that God will turn it right side up for you??All I can remember saying while they were here working on him was "Oh God Please "!! and thoughts running through my head..did I tell him how much I loved him that morning, does he know he is my life? what will I do without my Len driving me crazy?? Len had slipped into a diabetic coma...After they worked on him for over half an hour I heard the most beautiful words I have ever heard..OK we have a pulse!! Thank you God once again!!

Next thing I know Len is just staring at me..He didn't know who I was or what was going on around him..they had a breathing tube down his throat and couldn't talk..They took him to hospital and there we spend the rest of the day...Needless to say it was a very scary day around my mountain top!!
My daughter Dawna is here with me now as I did fall apart big time..You see I have not shared the story about my late husband Wally and how he died right in front of me while I was giving him CPR that was almost 12 years ago...I started having panic attacks at that time..there are days went I can't even leave my home become of them..You see when Wally died I could not speak or even move for over 3 weeks, I stayed under my stairs and just slept..My Mom and Dad were both alive at that time and were here trying to help me!!
It took me over 2 years to be able to make a decision on my own as I was so use to being a team of 31 years with Wally...Then I met Len who slowly started to bring me back to life again...I didn't have to remind myself to breath each day it just became a natural thing once again to me!!

I'm overwhelmed right now with all that is going on in my life...I'm taking a blog break for awhile so I can once again learn to breathe...Please pray for my Len he is very confused right now become of being in a coma...
I love ya all..And remember to tell the ones you love each day that you love them..As the world you know can turn upside down in a heartbeat!!
Now I'm going to go take care of my real world...

Hello guys, As many as you know that come by my blog I collect many things..I love history and I think the sinking of the Titanic was a Big part of our history..April 15,1912

I know many of us here in the States still have that sinking feeling on April 15 th as that is our due date for taxes ha ha!!

I love old newspapers the illustrations I think are wonderful..

"The Unsinkable Molly Brown'

Margaret Tobin Brown was one of the first women in the United States to run for political office, and ran for the Senate eight years before women even had the right to vote. On July 25, 1914, with Alva Vanderbilt (Mrs O.H.P.) Belmont, she organized an international women's rights conference at Marble House in Newport, Rhode Island, which was attended by human rights activists from around the world. A lifelong advocate of human rights, Margaret was also a prominent figure following the Ludlow Massacre in Trinidad, Colorado, in April 1914, a significant landmark in the history of labor rights in the United States.

By the time Margaret Tobin Brown boarded Titanic at Cherbourg, France, she had already made a significant impact in the world. She and her daughter Helen, who was a student at the Sorbonne, had been traveling throughout Europe and were staying with the John Jacob Astor party in Cairo, Egypt, when Margaret received word that her first grandchild, Lawrence Palmer Brown, Jr., was ill. She decided to leave for New York immediately, and booked passage on the earliest ship: Titanic. At the last minute Helen decided to stay behind in London. Due to her quick decision, very few people, including family, knew that Margaret was on board the Titanic.

After the ship struck the iceberg, Margaret helped load others into lifeboats and eventually was forced to board lifeboat six. She and the other women in lifeboat six worked together to row, keep spirits up, and dispel the gloom that was broadcast by the emotional and unstable Robert Hichens. However, Margaret's most significant work occurred on Carpathia, where she assisted Titanic survivors, and afterwards in New York. By the time Carpathia reached New York harbor, Margaret had helped establish the Survivor's Committee, been elected as chair, and raised almost $10,000 for destitute survivors. Margaret's language skills in French, German, and Russian were an asset, and she remained on Carpathia until all Titanic survivors had met with friends, family, or medical/emergency assistance. In a letter to her daughter shortly after the Titanic sinking, she wrote:

"After being brine, salted, and pickled in mid ocean I am now high and dry... I have had flowers, letters, telegrams-people until I am befuddled. They are petitioning Congress to give me a medal... If I must call a specialist to examine my head it is due to the title of Heroine of the Titanic."
Her sense of humor prevailed; to her attorney in Denver she wired:

"Thanks for the kind thoughts. Water was fine and swimming good. Neptune was exceedingly kind to me and I am now high and dry."

Sorry I have been MIA but last Friday I tore the ligament in the right side of my neck in other words I suffered a "whiplash" for 5 days I could not move my head without pain...So I have nothing I have feathered, fluffed or finds to show you this week..I hope to be back next week...

~Nesting Finds~

Hello guys, Well this week's finds are pretty slim again...

But I did get a new pedestal this one came from a library in Utah and at one time held a big directory...Of course I had to put a bust on it ha ha!! this piece was made in England ca. 1900 This I found at a local antique store for $150.00 Don't know where I'm going to put it yet so for now it lives on my fireplace hearth...

You see that French fire screen another find 3 years ago $35.00 Antique store going out of business

Found me a terrarium for $10.00 and Len found a little hummingbird nest last year with the eggs in our plum tree so I added it inside to protect it the quail eggs are also from our property

I shopped my barn and found the olden mirror and sat everything on top of it..A corner fireplace is really hard to decorate and have balance with it...

Also got me another Plateau mirror $13.00..I love adding these to tables and also they bring in so much needed light up on my mountain..Did I ever tell you I live in a cave ha ha!!

Found this sweet little garden cherub at Marshall's wasn't going to buy a thing that day..But when it screams your name and even knows yours Social Security number you have to have it..The lamp behind it I also got from Penney's online shopping Oh Yes!! I shop online all the time..Do you guys do that?? I would love to know..

Got this Victorian mirror from EBay..Also don't know where I'll put it..Won at $15.00 Hey Shelia here's half a "Bathroom Diva" shot for you ha ha!!

Now This crown Chandy I also won on EBay $119.00 it's very heavy even if it is tiny ca. 1900 and from France Yes it even came from France it costed me almost as much for shipping as the piece did ..It's all leaded crystal..I still have crystals to hang on it but haven't had time to do it yet..Hey I'm Landen sitting remember..I had Len just hold it for me to get a pic of it

OK *winks* aka Vanna at Delusions of Grandeur these are the pics I promise you..If you guys have not been by Vanna blog do yourself a huge favor and go check out the BEST French Antiques you ever laid eyes are..I just drool big time at her beautiful home!! In fact when my house grows up it's going to look like hers ha ha!!

But this have to be the BEST find of the week FREE!! While Len was at the dump the other day a guy was throwing this out because it would not sit level..Well Len took his grinder to the bottom and I now have a new concrete pedestal...I can't believe what some peeps will toss out I think I'll put a plant on it and leave it in my sun room..Well guys that's my Nesting finds for this week..Thanks for coming by my mountain top and seeing me..

I love spring time on my mountain...After all the snow we had this year I really was thrilled to see my Daffodil's coming up...

My old wagon after 25 years is starting to fall apart just like me..but still has alot of beauty to me..

I so remember went this was the population in my one horse town..Now we have 1650 Lenny found this old sign for me and brought it home..how sweet was that!!

I have alot of old farm things I use in my yard as I have 11 acres to try and fill

An old wine barrel can you say huge lol!!

If you walk through that Heart arbor you will get to my front door...I loved this when I found it because "Home is where the heart is"

This is the road that goes to my apartment in the back....Every tenant has loved living in that apartment because it's so quiet and on a private road..This is also where my Big barn is at..

Len just made this flower bed for me last year..see that old iron headboard leaning there it will go into the flower bed so I will really have a flower bed lol!!

Len is also making me a rock pond with a water fall...

This is where Len buried his old dog Rex in 09 and he keeps solar power lights on it...

~ My Diner Things~

Did you ever have a collection of things and didn't know it...Well the other day while Landen was taking a nap I was dusting my kitchen and noticed I had alot of Vintage things from the olden Diners...Now I did not start out to collect things from Diners it just seemed to happen lol!! Doesn't that happen to all of us?? some of my cream pitchers and sugar shaker

My Hamilton Beach milk shake maker..I was just talking to my bestie friend Vanna aka *winks* at" delusions of grandeur" on the phone last week and each week we always seem to talk about our passion about Antiques and the hunt for antiques, buying antiques, decorating with antiques, Where in the H are we going to put another antique, well you get the message...We got to talking about the milk shaker maker * winks* also has one..but then what doesn't she have ha ha!! I still use mine it makes the best milk shake in the world..I tell you the spoon just stand up in it...

I think I love all these Diners things because they were around as I was growning up...Do any of you remember being able to play music at your table..5 songs for a quarter

This is my latest vintage diner item..an napkin menu holder and for only a penny it would give you a Yes or No answer to any question you asked it..Can you say fun!!

And what Diner would not have a 1015 Wurlitzer 1947 jukebox in it....This is by far my favorite thing in my whole house I have and many others that have come here had many "Happy To Be" hours dancing and singing to this machine..If you would like to hear it play click here...

I sit it up on my hardware cabinet turned Candy Cabinet..And yes after almost a year of owning this piece I still have it full of candy lol!!

This is Sun out my kitchen window..it's something my mountain has not seen in over 5 months...I think fingers crossed plus eyes that spring has finally come ha ha!! Snow even melted off this week and all my Daffs started to bloom..

That brat called me at 6am to see if I was baking her a cake!! Told her sure I was and the smell from the oven was overwhelming ha ha!!

~ I Love a Sailor Boy~

It seems like since this new Love has come into my life I really don't have time to blog like I use to..Do I care ...Not really..You see it's been many years for me to have a baby so close by..Oh I have a ton of Great Grand kids last count 8 with one more due in May..But they all live out of state from me..So having this little guy only 4 miles from me has been just heaven for me!!I just love his smell his cute little giggles, the way he blows me bubbles..My Granddaughter Candace is an accountant so this is her busy time of year,and she works long hours so I get to keep this guy little a few days a week..Can you say Love it!! This week her day care worker has the flu so I get to have him for the whole week YIPPEE!!

I wished I could show you a fancy table I put together or a new spring mantle but I can't..I really haven't done a thing around my house ha ha!! When I have Landen I sit on the floor and just love and play with him all day ha ha!!

I told Len today I just hope I live for another 10 years so maybe this little guy will remember me and all the love his Gigi had for him..

I know my age and health are both catching up with me...But each and every day I give thanks that God allowed me this time with this little Sailor boy..sighs..

I so appreciate all the comments you left on my last post and really I will get back to all of you..Until then I will be sitting on the kitchen floor blowing liquid bubbles and seeing how many Landen can catch!!

Hello Guys, Well this week finds have been really slim picking on my mountain...In order to go treasurer hunting you have to be able to get out of your driveway and we are again being hammered with snow..

I did get me a new old fan with frame...

I paid $28.00 for the whole thing Love it...

Got this sweet ca. 1880 shaving mug box..not that great condition but for only $30.00 I love it

Found a new photo album with the pictures this time..Score

~ Under my Stairs~

Well guys , here we finally are into spring..On Friday we got snow and within a day we had over a foot and half..Also lost our power..So I just played under my stairs ha ha!!

Len got me this Angle statue when I first met him..said it reminds him of me ha ha!! what was that man smokin??

This is a very small space under my stairs and many know that come by here I can't stand to see a Naked wall or floor space...

my antique Bridge supports that I found like 30 years ago and put on each side of my door frame..

I found these at a shop in Amador city, they were very rusty..I had them sandblasted and powder coated they have hung in the last 2 homes I owned..Wally Made the huge bolts for them to hang them with..That man could made everything..I still say not one thing hanging in my house will ever fall down..

Oh and I finally got my Lion's head lamp that I ordered from EBay..and it's complete..Remember me telling you about getting one with a broken head and another one with a broken tooth??

Now don't know if I like it or not..It might be going home with my daughter...

Had to show you my favorite easel..it's a Art Nouvean piece

Love the pretty lady on it..Also got this piece from the same guy in Amador City..like 25 years ago..He had some of the best stuff..I loved going to his home and shop..

But I had this piece just sitting until I just find just the right Antique Photo album to display on it..

I love the heavy clasp on this green velvet one..I told you I collect these albums but Will only buy them in good condition..

This is the First day of spring on my mountain top ha ha!!

Len and I planted over 1000 Daff's bulbs in Oct and we couldn't wait to see them come spring time..Well last week they were coming up and now they buried under snow..We'll be lucky to see a one this year ..Even our Famous Daffodil Hill was suppose to open this past weekend...

Hello Guys, Well I did it again...Remember last month when I told you about getting me a "Globes De Mariee" From Richard at " My Historic Home" Well I have been on the hunt ever since then to find me another one..As my poor Victorian side board was just too lonely with just the one ha ha!! I am joining Sherry at " No Minimalist here" for her brand new party...Thanks Sherry..

This is the one I got from Richard and she gets center stage after all she does have seniority...

And here is her sister I just got last week from France!!! Can you say Love it...

This one is 16 inches tall

It's 10.5 wide and 6 inches deep...It came without the dome

I love the sweet little wax flowers on it...They use to make these flowers with cotton and dip them in wax

This one has 4 mirrors on it...ca. 1890

This is what they call the wedding pillow...Like I said if you want to know the history of what the leaves, flowers and mirrors mean click here...I think I have started a new collection ha ha!! which I don't need ..Now I have to find me a dome to cover it with...Oh well I so love a good hunt!!

Landen at 5 Months..can you say Fat!!! My Granddaughter wears a back pack and uses a baby Carrier..So I told her she has a " Back Pack and a Fat Pack" ha ha!! You know what they say about breast fed baby will this one is indeed healthy ha ha!! I just love all his little fat rolls..He now has 1 tooth, can sit and roll all over my house only thing he doesn't do is play dead ha ha!! This Landen does not like to sleep he not fussing just like to play until he falls asleep of course as soon as you get him in a car he's a goner..Len and I both have really been enjoying having this little guy to hang out with...

My daughter Dawna is coming in tonight for the weekend can you say YIPPEE!! I just love it when I get to have one of my babies home...She called me this morning and asked me if I was going to bake her a cake...HELLO!!! this is your mama your talking too..This is the same daughter that while in grade school would tell me at 9pm on her way to bed..Oh Mom I told my teacher you would bake 40 cupcakes for the class party tomorrow!! Or would tell me Mom I signed you up to go to the zoo with 40 kids, Mom I signed you up to make 8 block letters for the cheerleaders we need them by Friday and it's Wednesday!! Or Mom your having a baby shower this Saturday for my teacher!! And now she wants a cake?? She'll get Twinkies and coffee ha ha!!
Wish me luck girls!! This is my daughter that came out swinging a purse and chewing gum and wanted to know who the boss was around here ha ha!! But at least I can get all this stuff out of my sun room that I"m been stacking up for her..Oh yes she shops my house when she comes, She goes from room to room and tells me what I don't need and what would look great at her house...Hope you all have a GREAT weekend...

Hello guys, did I ever tell you I l♥ve old photo albums...Well I do and when I find them in good condition I have to have them...It's just another thing that screams my name lol!!

I have been collecting them now for over 30 years...and I don't care if they have pictures in them or not..I just buy old photos for them

This is a leather album and I love the sweet pansy"s on the front of it...

This album is ca. 1880

I have it full of photos I have bought through the years...

This sits on my coffee table this week ha ha!!

An ostrich egg under a cloche sits next to it...This egg came from my own ostrich..as I had an ostrich and Emu farm at one time.

One of my antique french clock also added to the table...

This album I have in my dining room...and it's one of my favorites...I love the tin heart mirror on the front of it...

The inside of it...again I added all the photos to it...

But the best part of this album is that in the back it fold down and make a little writing desk with an ink well and a place to put photos until you date them etc.

This is the only album like this one I have found so far...It's faded green velvet and the inside is all leather..can you say Love...I also have a musical Antique photo album,Christmas and many more...last count was 15.

And I am sure these photos were taken with cameras like these...

Oh yes !! yet another collection for another day to share...

~Missing Husband~

Bob was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was really mad. She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE!!"

The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought the box back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.
Bob has been missing since Friday.

Hello Guys, I hope all of you have had a GREAT week so far...with all the snow I haven't been out much to shop...

But I did win this Italian Otco silk picture from EBay a few weeks back...It's very French as it's Marie Antoinette...I just love how she's lookin at her own picture..It's from 1890 and all hand painted on silk..

It so reminds me of my dear friend Vanna aka *winks* of Delusions of Grandeur if you have not been to her blog and Love all things French check it out!! Beautiful Frenchy eye candy awaits you..

We have a new thrift store that just opened in January right here in my small MayBerry

town..
I found this very heavy shelf it's made like with cement...Have not a clue where I will put it yet but for $5.00 it had to come home with me...

I just love all the details on it...

Then at the same store I found 4 of these plate frames for $1.00 for all

Still have not hung them as I don't know where to hang them ha ha!! do you ever just buy something because the price is too great to pass up and then have no clue where to use it or put it??

My newest Collar box another EBay find a few weeks ago...

I got it because I loved the Victorian woman on it...

Then I went shopping in my barn..Oh yes I have a 3000 ft barn that I go out and shop in...found this mirror and picture frame and put them together

I love the new look with my French shelf...

I sat the Otco up on my mantle for now..again until I can find a spot to hang it...

And put the collar box on my desk until I can also find it a home...I have been trying to purge my house this week and I now have my sun room full of stuff to give to my daughter next weekend..Thank God for daughters ha ha!!

Landen James is coming over tomorrow to watch me ha ha!! I just love having that little guy here, he brings so much laughter in my home..his little head reminds me of a bobble doll the way he eye balls everything in my house ha ha!! I can just see it in his eyes how nothing in this house Will be safe a year from now when he walking!!

For over 30 years I have been getting Country Living Magazine and I can truly say it was the biggest influence in my decorating style in my kitchen...I loved everything I use to see in it..All the olden antiques with the great patina of age and just the warm come in and have a cup of coffee with me feeling it use to have...

I also am a copy cat and would copy so many things from this magazine...

Like all these wonderful wooden kitchen gadgets...(picture country living 1988)

After 30+ years Country Living has changed their format!! There is not one page in this new format that makes me want to just sit have a cup of coffee and devoured each and everything in it...

The new format so reminds me of 1001 Decorating ideas for over $100.00...I know change is good for everyone..But if it's not broke why fix it ???

This is the new Country Living style....I think this will be the last year I renew my subscription the last 2 issues I have tossed in my thrash...Country Living I have had an affair with you for over 30 years..But it's time we end it...I guess your ready for a CHANGE and I'm not...

But I'm so glad I saved my 30+ years of back issues...OK Country Living I'll get off my antique milk stool now !!

Do you ever fall in love with a magazine only to see it change..Oh and not to pick only on Country Living..But Romantic Homes has also jumped on the No Romance bandwagon now sighs...Another one I tossed in the thrash. I think I'll save my money and stick with blogs...Maybe editors should look to bloggers to see what's Hot !!!

The Sheer Nightgown....

A husband walks into Victoria's Secret to purchase a sheer negligee for his wife. He is shown several possibilities that range from $250 to $500 in price -- the more sheer, the higher the price. Naturally, he opts for the most sheer item, pays the $500, and takes it home. He presents it to his wife and asks her to go upstairs, put it on, and model it for him.

Upstairs the wife thinks (she's no dummy), 'I have an idea. It's so sheer that it might as well be nothing. I won't put it on, but I'll do the modeling naked, return it tomorrow, and keep the $500 refund for myself.

She appears naked on the balcony and strikes a pose.

The husband says, 'Good Grief! You'd think for $500, they'd at least iron it!'
He never heard the shot.

Funeral on Thursday at Noon. Closed coffin.

Hey guys, Did you think I got lost ha ha!! Much heavy snow on my mountain, I have lost many beautiful trees from the weight sighs...Within 12 hours we got over 2 1/2 ft of that dang white stuff..We also lost our power.

I did play on EBay a few weeks ago and won a few things I would like to show you..I love bubble glass frames and I found this Mourning frame...

The Seller said it was a Mother and her 2 daughters..But what I really fell in love with was the Victorian foil art in this picture...

This is from 1900-1910

I have a real thing for old pictures and cameos

And nothing could be sweeter than a small cameo old books and a small bust..You guys know how it's not complete without a bust on it..I love my girls..

And this is why I had no power for over 2 days...Can you find my sidewalk ha ha!! Even the UPS man parked at the front of the road and walked up to my house..too much snow to drive on..

But this wonderful Grand daughter Candace and her son Landen James always puts the sun in my life each and every day..

Landen is now 5 months ago and every thing he gets go right into his mouth, my hair, my old RED robe ha ha!! He comes and visits with Papa and Gigi every Friday night and I get to keep him each Saturday while his Mama and Daddy work...

Len and I both have so enjoyed having this little miracle come into our life...And it's so funny as Len never had kids in fact he really never cared for kids..But this Landen has won his old heart big time..He just loves this guy to pieces..He almost me knocked over getting to him to pick him up !! Like they say a "Baby Changes everything"

~Globe De Mariee come to Mama~

Dear Diary:

Remember me telling you in December how blog land has put me in the poor house!! I went by my dear friend Vanna aka *winks* blog delusions of grandeur..And my olden heart stood still and I had to catch my breath...She did this post of these wonderful Wedding Domes and I had seen them but had not a clue what they were..(Len is wishing I still didn't ha ha!!) Told Len I have to have one..he looked at me and asked what I been smoking!! in fact he said all they are is a cloche with some old flowers..

But they are more than that..and I knew I had to get one...Well within 2 weeks I'm in blog land again ( Big mistake) and went to see my Dear friend Richard at " My old Historic House" and he has an esty shop so I'm looking at all his wonderful antiques and I hear something SCREAMING my name...Len tried to put in my ear plugs but it was no late...I had to have it...after all it did scream right off his esty page to my heart!!

Anyway I bought it right then and there!! Now it only took a month to get here...If you want to know why click here...

This huge box has more air mileage on it than I do...In fact it has frequent flyer miles now and it's own zip code...

Richard packed this like a Diamond ring...A box within a box..

Within another box...also tossed in all his Christmas paper, new papers, peanuts,old cardboard , I was hoping I would find my missing sock of 5 years by the time I got through all this packing stuff ha ha!!

Getting to the good stuff!! I was giddy like a school girl by this point!!

Globes De Mariee

These globes (1830-1914) helped to tell the story of the married couple. And were added to over the years. They would've been featured prominently in the couples home.

Usually the mother of the bride would go to the watchmakers or jewelers and pick out the different elements for the globe.Each and every small piece helps to tell the story of the couple.

Which would almost always include the bridal headpiece and might also include photos of the couple or family members such as:

- objects commemorating a death or birth such as a lock of hair

-The bridal bouquet often made of orange wax blossoms which in 1830 marks the advent of artificial flowers (How handy!)

- Emblems of awards ( honorary military medals or other symbolic objects)

Here are some more of the many elements and their meanings.

-The presence of a bird holding a laurel wreath is there to signify that "as the bird makes its nest, the woman builds her family" while a dove expresses the desire for peace in the home.

-Roses = Love

-Ivy or Bindweed reflects attachment of the couple, as the ivy leaf, "I stick or I die. "

- Chestnut Tree Leaves = Links to Others

- Lime leaves to symbolize fidelity.

- Oak leaves, symbolizing strength and love,

- Vine leaves and grapes, symbols of success, abundance.

- Ears of wheat = symbols of fertility.

(They were often presented in 7's representing the 7 days of the week

during which the husband had to work to feed his family.)

- Four-leaf clover, a symbol of good luck.

- Daisy flowers

(The flower that young lovers pluck repeating the well-known verse: He loves me? he loves me not?......)

(Very important to have odd numbered daisies!)

- A handshake is a symbol of union.

-The orange blossom is the symbol of virginity.

- Jasmine is a sign of love voluptuous. Which means I'm thinking of you.

There is symbiology in the mirrors as well:

-The large mirror from the center, often at the bottom symbolizes sincerity and faithfulness.

"The mirror does not lie, it only reflects what he sees."

(Often it was the only mirror that was found in the home.)

-The rectangular mirrors recalled the years that the couple had courted.

-The mirrors in the shape of diamonds or triangles represent the number of children the couple wished to have.

Finally, in the case of remarriage after a period of widowhood, it was customary to replace the crown of orange blossoms (symbol of virginity) with a set of pearls (a symbol of creative femininity )

This is just photos of my Tiffany Chandelier that I wanted to share with Richard...

I found this piece in a collector home in 1981 and took it right off his ceiling ha ha!!

Antique people are nuts they will do anything for a GREAT piece..Now the guy I bought this from did not know it was a Tiffany...Each shade has the tag on it that reads "LCT" Which stands for Louis Comfort Tiffany...He had it for at least 40 years when I got it...He had so much stuff in his house and shop I don't think he knew all he did have..Lucky for me!!

~Victorian Dresser turned Sink~

Hello Guys, I hope you all had a GREAT day..

I have been redoing the top my Victorian Dresser turned sink..I bought this olden dresser in 1998 just for the purpose of making it into a sink for the Hers bathroom...dresser ca. 1910 quarter sawn oak...

I love the way it turned out...Now the first 2 drawers are no longer in use, as the carpenter had to cut the back out in the dresser so the plumbing pipes has a place to go..So he glued the drawers front on...The bottom drawer is still a good size for all my towels ...

I love my sweet little cherub lamp...

The lamp shade is called a small tulip and I made it..the fabric is backcloth from the 40's it was a drapery panel..

The bead trim is pearls..Now I can't remember who asked me about the beads I use for my lamps..they all come pre-strung and are $1.10 per inch..The large tulip shades I made are 80 inches around so the beads alone cost me $88.00

My Victorian Hair brush and mirror sit on the left side of the sink dresser..

Victorian calling card holder I use to hold my hand towel..

My wall lamps were gas but have been converted just for this bathroom..the shades are from ca.1860 this is the one on the right side of dresser...

I have one on each side of the dresser..

This is a drapery holder ..I could not find a towel holder that I liked so I use this holder instead ha ha!!

The soap dispenser and tissue holder my mama made for me about 20 years ago..

And of course nothing in my home would be complete without a Bust on it ha ha!! I love me girls..

~My Victorian Boudoir~

Step into my Boudoir:

Please turn on my Tiffany wall lamp and lets take a little tour...

As many of you that come by here know..My home started with a one room cabin 350 sq foot and I did live in that square footage for 2 years while we were adding on (click here to see) ..In 1988 we added a Living room and bedroom, then took the cabin and made it all kitchen..Then in 1996 we added on a formal dining room..This master suite was added in 1999 and the one thing I had to have was a sitting room where I could watch my own TV shows and just have some quiet time to read..Now this suite is 1083 sq foot so it's rather large...Also has 2 full size baths...a his and hers..Now I also have about 3000 sq foot of stuff packed within these walls ha ha!!

This is my sitting area...

This tray sits on a JP.Coats and Clark spool cabinet ca. 1880

This settee sits at the foot of my bed...

Just love the sweet rose fabric on it...

One of my oldest pieces I own is this wine cabinet ca. 1780. On the bottom I have some of my collection of antique photo albums..

Chamber set is from England ca. 1880 and the lamp shade I made

I love my bed..the head board is 9 foot high and just look at the great craving in it...It's burl and walnut from the Rocco period ca. 1880

Bed spread is from the 20's and it came with the window valance that I used as sorta dressing on the wall with lace panels..

This is just a shot of the whole bed with settee...I have 2 Victorian lamp tables on each side of the bed with Bradley Hubbard lamps..Ca 1870..2 bubble frames from 1900 hang above each table...

This is a Victorian buffet but I use it for a dresser burl and walnut also from the Rocco period...This piece stand proudly at 6 foot tall..

My Victorian dresser...The antique National cash register I use as my jewelry box..I just hit the Five and Dime keys and it will open ha ha!! and that's about how much my jewelry that I keep in it is worth..2 of my "Gone with the wind" lamps sit on each side...These are called Ruby glass.

Hello Guys, I have told you before that I march to a guitar with a few strings missing...A few years ago I found an Antique Baptismal font....It's from Italy ca.1910 I added a glass table topper to it so I could use it..and it sits right beside my front door in my entry..So BLESS all those that enter my home...

A basin or vase, serving as a receptacle for baptismal water in which the candidate for baptism is immersed, or over which he is washed, in the ceremony of Christian initiation. In the Church's present practice it is ordinarily a decorative stone basin, though metal or wood are used; supported on a pedestal or columns at a convenient height for receiving the water which is poured over the head of the person baptized, a form which marks the term of a development graphically illustrating the history of the mode of conferring baptism.

And of course nothing is complete without a Bust on it..

This Baptismal font is made of stone..I love all the craving and gold leaf on it...After Len moved this heavy thing for me he said it Will stay there unless I find another fool ..Now come on Women can always find a fool!! But how many Baptismal fonts can I find ha ha!!Please feel free to Bless yourself as you leave my mountain top..

Husband Down

A husband and wife are shopping in their local Wal-Mart. The husband picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in their cart.

'What do you think you're doing?' asks the wife.

'They're on sale, only $10 for 24 cans he replies.
'Put them back, we can't afford them demands the wife, and so they carry on shopping.

A few aisles further on along the woman picks up a $20 jar of face cream and puts it in her basket.

'What do you think you're doing?' asks the husband.

'Its my face cream. It makes me look beautiful,' replies the wife.

Her husband retorts: 'So does 24 cans of Budweiser and it's half the price.'

Then down he went.

Hello Guys!! I just wanted to show you a few of my olden New Coffee grinders I got this past month...

This is a Enterprise Coffee grinder from 1873 # 2 it has been fully restored...I just love it...Found it in a local antique store in December, had it on lay away ha ha!! Oh Yes I'm the Queen of lay- away...If you find an antique you really love, talk to the shop owner they will always do a 30 day lay-away with you sometimes more if they know you...

I found this one on EBay and it started at $565.00 I got this one for only $400.00 YIPPEE!! I know this sounds like allot but it really is not for a piece that is in great shape and 138 years old...These old things are getting harder to find..I sure wished society valued older people like they do antique's..I would be worth a fortune now ha ha!!

Of course I still love my Charles Parker Coffee Grinder the best of all..Did you know that the man who made shotguns made this grinder...WOW!! Talk about a morning coffee blast ha ha!! This is a real rare coffee grinder..every antique dealer that comes into my home wants to buy this beauty from me...But I can't sell my children's inheritance ha ha!!

This is a Elma coffee grinder from Spain ca. 1930... I love the beautiful patina on the one wheel grinder...It came home with me the first of January...

This one I sat on my De Laval cream separator cabinet...Ca. 1900

I just love the tin panel on this cabinet...found this about 25 years ago..

I have this new beauty sitting atop my antique Bin counter...I love this piece as an island in my kitchen..It's seven feet long and has 18 ~~junk~~ storage drawers in it...

~Victorian Side Board with hand painted China~

Hello guys, Hope all of you have had a GREAT day...Just a few shots of my Victorian side board..

The big platter is Limoges France it's 20 inches long...Hand painted ca. 1900I have a few of my R.S. Prussia china bowls..these also are all hand painted.. The "RS" in RS Prussia is derived from its founder, Reinhold Schlegelmilch. While his factory enjoyed limited success, it was the work of his two sons, Arnold and Ehrhard that would make the mark bearing his initials famous. While Ehrhard continued to operate the factory in Suhl, Arnold went on to found a second factory in nearby Tillowitz. These two operations produced the majority of their products for export beginning in 1892 up until the beginning of World War I. During this period, most of the pieces exported to the United States bore the mark described above, with Prussia in red beneath. In 1910, the Tillowitz factory began using the all-green "RS Germany" mark, and miraculously continued producing fine China through the second world War. The original factory in Suhl closed down before the First World War ended.

Breif History:

On each side of the side board I have hanging R.S Prussia and R.S. Germany plates..

Just some close up and personal shots of my Victorian side board...I just love the griffins on this piece..: a mythical animal typically having the head, forepart, and wings of an eagle and the body, hind legs, and tail of a lion

I love the quarter sawn oak of this piece...side board is ca. 1880

~ My French Coffee table~

Hello Guys, Today I thought I would join our sweet Marty for TT...This is one of my coffee tables in my living room..Oh Yes I have 2 coffee tables because I have 2 sofa's in this room...Now anyone that comes by here knows I love stuff...And the More the better...

I found this table at a consignment shop 3 years ago...I gave $50.00 for it which was GREAT!! as it from Drexel Heritage furniture " Bella Maison "...Which is their French Line..

And what would a table be without candles...I also got these from the same shop...

The cloche sits in the center on a cake stand and have a French Harp clock under it...ca. 1870

And behind the French clock I have a pair of French Opera glasses from ca. 1900

This is a clock I made many years ago from an old china plate...One day if you like I will show you how to make these..just let me know..

Don't you love these boxes that look like books...I found this one at Ross while Christmas shopping...I have a French Magnifying glass with a tassel sitting on top of it...

Is this not a pretty box and so me ha ha!!

~ Give me Light~

Hello Guys, I don't know about you...But during the winter months I live in a dark cave...I sit here on my sofa and never have enough light to read by..

Think Gloria!! Thinks what can you do...well I have a barn full of stuff lamps included so I ventured out into it and got one of them..This is an Art Nouveau wall hanging lamp...Art Nouveau is French for "New Art" and was very popular from 1890-1905

Of course the shade is one I already had and was Nekked...I got these beads for .50 and just knew they would work great on this shade..

Just gives me a nice glow to read by now...

Now I think all of us at one time or another had these Can lights in our house...I have 2 of them in my kitchen..

I also have a Sky lite...But will tell you with all the trees up here on my mountain I don't have good light at all during the winter months...

One of my favorite signs in my sky lite doesn't everyone hang pictures in their skylights ha ha!!

Any hoo I found these at Lowe's and the price was only $20.00...Can you say love it..

Takes an ordinary Can lite and makes a hanging lamp out of them...all you do is screw it in..Can you say Love it...

Just gives me so much more light here at my island now..Can you say Love it..

I'm now no longer in the Dark ha ha!!

Turned on my desktop computer and it died some time during the night...No big deal have Len take it to computer doctor to fix after all I got an external hard drive in August so I have all my files and information saved right!! Wrong computer doctor calls external hard drive has never worked factory defeat, need to take it back to store...Can't leave house nose to bright, big and Red..Oh well I'll get by with my lap top...

Dear Diary,

Cold still here, sneezing all the time gone through two boxes of tissue now..finding tissue even in my underwear and clothes dryer..every pants pocket, every robe, every place to have tissue I have it stuffed, feel like I'm wearing a padded bra now...Can't leave house now, can't even go to Wal-mart for fear I'll end up on " People who shop at Wal-Mart"

Dear diary,

Computer needs a new hard drive..Had computer dr. order it less than buying a new one..Only $160.00 to fix..
Still can't leave house, sneezing big time and my bladder is not working right!! Now wetting my pants every time I sneeze...
I go on-line shopping instead..needed a new lamp for my dining room side board..Found one I really loved with a Lion holding up 2 lights with shades in his mouth...Can't wait for it to come, just know that will make me feel better...

Wedding dome not here yet..contacted seller to get tracking on it..He called me back said package has arrived at my post office on January 24 at 8:42 Am and was send back to sender at 11:36 Am...What the ??? Send Len to post office and YES it was send back to Mo because it needed 44 cents postage due WHAT THE ???... I mean how much can it cost the post office to send it back to Mo instead of contacting me?? HELLO!! Small town here everyone knows everyone....Still sneezing and Loving the pull ups..." Dear Diary,

Direct TV came out today to install new dish system...New Lion's head lamp arrive...afraid to open it..put on my Big Girl pull ups and go for it..scared to look...all seems well head is intact shades look great, turn it around and Lions tooth is broke off...
Turned on TV tonight...nothing on screen but a "No Signal" sign floating around...Call Direct TV..Listen to recorder for 35 minutes waiting to talk to a real life person...get that problem fixed...still sneezing on the 4th box of tissue and praise the inventor of depends pull ups...Tell myself it's going to be " The best Year ever"

Good Morning Guys,

Remember me telling you like 2 months ago I got a faux fireplace for my sitting area in my bedroom...I have a love, hate with big TVs...But I love to sit in my bedroom at night and watch TV...

I'm so loving the warmth the fireplace gives me...As it's also a heater...and a place to put the Big TV on ha ha!!

This is a small tulip shade I made many years ago...

I Love this...I mean LOVE IT...

Another shade burgundy velvet with black jet beads that I also made....

One of my wall scones above my Victorian chair...
These shades I got from "Victorian Trading Company" a few years ago...Love them!

My Carrot cake sofa...which is what I call this sofa..Long story if you want to read about "How not to make a carrot cake" go here

One of my sweet little boy bust...this all sits on my French coffee table..

And under the coffee table is a pair of high top ladies shoes...I still wonder how women wore these pointy things Ouch!!

Hello Guys, I know I have been MIA since last week...I didn't fall off the face of the earth just have a cold to beat all colds...Just before Christmas I redid my hutch in my hallway...added some new scrapbook paper to the back of it...and put in all my white Ironstone and white stuff ha ha!!

I think I like it for now...But that can change...

Don't you love how one little thing can make something you already have give a whole new look??

I ♥ all my Ironstone soup tureen's that I got Hospice and Swap meets for a song ha ha!!

Of course the best thing about seeing this hutch is seeing my Great Grandson Landen James picture on the glass.Thanks for coming by and seeing me...I hope to be up and about within the next few days...At my age I catch everything but men and money ha ha !!

~Fluffy Warmth~

Hello Guys, During the winter months I love to layer, be it on my walls tables or furniture...It just adds that warm fluffy feel to me...

This is a small French shelf I have above my sofa that I just added a picture in front of the mirror...It just fluffed it right up...

Of course adding a Fat Fluffy Cherub gives it that fluffy and warm feeling..ha ha!!

I also fluffed up my little table in my entry...

Made me a sweet little fluffy birds nest tassel

And added a warmer little shade for winter...

Oh!! but the best thing I have ever gotten to add warmth and fluff for those snow winter days here on my mountain is this Beautiful fluffy faux fur throw...

My sweet Sis...Chari from "Happy to Design" send me this fluffy love for Christmas...Oh does she know me or what...Thank you sweet Sis I love it and you,
and use it every night while watching TV...

And of course having the fire going also helps me feel fluffy and warm..

~Tea Cup Lite How To~

Good day girls, I have had a few emails asking me about how to make these sweet little tea cup night lites so I thought I would show you once again...

These really are so easy and make such GREAT gifts...Gather up your supplies, you can use a tea cup. gravy boat wherever you like for these...I even made a little vanity lamp for a gal from her wedding shoe and used dried flowers from wedding and lace from her dress for the shade...Just let your imagination work on these...

Now this is a piece of lace that I cut to fit the bottom of the little lamp shade...

just glue the lace all the way around the bottom of the shade..You don't really have to do this I just like to give each shade a special little look...one of a kind thing..

I just love these little shades... the satin ribbon and satin bow with the tassel ...just darling...I got these shades at Jo-Ann fabric store like 5 years ago...I think I bought 30 of them..differ colors I have a home based business making Victorian Lamp shades and lamps that's why so many shades...

Now take some foam..this you can get at the Dollar store....cut it with a knife to fit the tea cup... then take your Glue gun and glue the foam inside the cup...

Next take your light and press it into the foam...I twist this around so I can get the imprint I need in the foam...

Now here you can see the imprint I made in the foam...

Then I take my knife again and cut out the imprint and made the hole deep enough to hold my light...Now for those that can't find the light's like I have...You also can get the candle lights at Dollar store and use them...if you use the ones with the brass stand on them you don't need to do the foam part...just hot glue the brass stand in the bottom of the cup...then add your moss around it...if you use a deep cup I suggest adding a small piece of foam at the bottom of the cup to bring the light up abit with...I have used both lights but these are my favorite ones to work with...

Then glue the light into the hole...Glue the saucer to the cup...Now see what you have so far...its starting to look like a little lamp

Then to cover up all the green foam...I take moss and glue it on top of foam...then I give it a hair cut to get rid of the moss hanging over the edge...put your light bulb in..

Now the next time I do is add some sweet little birds, flowers, eggs etc what ever you want you can add or just leave it with just the moss around the cup....I love to add a little spoon this also is hot glued right onto the saucer...

Now this is the finished tea cup lamp...these are so sweet as night lights in a bedroom or bathroom...I have one in Blue Willow in my kitchen that I leave on at night...

Here's what it looks like all lit up...isn't it cute ....of course it is ha ha!!

~Blues that make me Happy on a Winter day & Ramblings~

I hope all of you had a GREAT New Year's...Mine was very quiet just the way I like it ha ha!! This was the first time in 5 years I even stayed awake to see it come in...We have once again had our fair share of snow up here on my mountain top...Lost of power nothing is under ground here but our septic tank ha ha!! So every time it snows trees break and it takes forever for the power company to find the problem...I'm so glad to see yet another year...I love be able to just get up at my age and see all this beauty that God has created...
Now I also love coming into my kitchen each morning and seeing my Blue sink..doesn't everyone has one ha ha!!
20 years ago I seen a blue sink in Country Living magazine and just knew it called my name LOUD and Clear...So in 1996 I got my dream sink...There is just something about Blue/White in a kitchen that I love...

This sweet little Toile lamp shade makes me happy to be each day...

and my blue gum ball machine....A crock pot cooking with a warm pot of stew...YUM!!!

Severed in Blue/White dishes...OMG I just realized I'm right up there with BJ, from " Sweet Nothing's " I'm now showing food ha ha!!

I think one of my best finds from 2010 was this beautiful Blue/white soup tureen with the ladle for $ 10.00 from Second Sunday swap meet...Did I do great on this or what??

Hospice find S/P shakers for only $2.50

And a cold glass of 2% fat free milk in an vintage Blue Willow glass.

Needless information about me:

I was born in Des Monies, Iowa but have lived in California since I was 5.

I don't drink milk and haven't since I was about 6.

I only eat one meal a day.

The most I have ever weighted is 118 lbs and that was when I was pregnant.

I stand tall at 5'1 and has maintained 103 lbs for over 40 years.

I wear a size 4 in a kid's shoe..But can wear a 5 in a ladies...depends on the style.

I wear a size 4 petite in pants and the only ones I can find that fit me the way I like them is Gloria Vanderbilt..

In my twenties I worked as a cocktail waitress.

I had my own business for over 32 years, making Micromaniputlor's

and Mechanical stages for microscopes...for yeast and DNA...

I got married the first time in 1959 when I was 15 and had my first child Barbra 11 months later, she was a breech birth born Butt first, at that time they didn't do allot of C-sections I had no drugs all natural can you say OUCH!! ( I still walk funny ha ha!!)

I had all 3 of my daughters by the time I was 20.

I was a grandma at 36 and a great grandma by 62. I now have 8 great grands and another one on the way...Kyra's is going to have a little sister come May...YIPPEE!!

All of my grand kids now also have kids...So all 3 of my daughters are now grandma's...tell me that's not funny when I see them and realize their all grandma's now...

I was married to Wally for 31 years until he died of a heart attack in 1999 right in front of me...I tried giving him CPR for over 40 minutes waiting for help to arrive sighs...He was my life's love.

I got my pilot's license when I was 30..But never drove a car until I was 25...Can you believe I was afraid to drive?? So from getting a driver license to a pilot's license was a really BIG step for me...

I was Lioness International District 4-C3 president by the age of 40.And really enjoyed working at the Blind center, I taught a sewing and make- up class.God has a way of making you humble working with the blind..These women had no sight but could look within your heart..

This marks my 23 years up on this mountain top...And loving every minute of it...If I hear a car I know I have company coming ha ha!!

This also marks my 16 th year of being Cancer free YIPPEE!!...Boy God has been so GREAT to me..I think he knows I'm not done here yet.

God has always watched me over my shoulder, I'm a firm believer to always be kind to people, as what goes around will always come around...It's so much easier to Love than to hate...In fact HATE is the dirtiest 4 letter word I know...

OK now you have read the "Ramblings" of an old but grateful Happy To Be mountain woman...
